This hotel do not let cubans to be rented. Because the cubans don't have mlc or american dollars to pay. The cuban government pays to the cuban workers with cuban pesos, nobody wants cuban pesos, because do not have value.

I truly enjoyed my stay in this hotel. During its hay day (late 90's & 2000's) this place would be a show stopper. All the class, beauty, uniqueness of a more modern hotel. Is it dated now? Yes. Have attempts been made to modernize and keep it functioning? Absolutely! Its a solid four star when all factors considered but what makes this property a gem is the truly amazing employees who work here. Wow! From checkin to checkout. Excellent service. Rooms are dated and AC struggles to keep up. Staff are happy to service the AC or move you to another room. Beds super comphy! Rooms very clean! Shower, hot water, bathtub all great! Onsite pool with drink service is great! Smiling staff everywhere. Pool area kept clean. Onsite restaurants including buffet and italian never disappointed. Even in these tough times in Cuba, the Melia did not disappoint. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Singles, couples, families, business travellers. Truly a gem in beautiful Santiago!

Older hotel with average food. Music during breakfast and dinner is perfect. During our stay, only one elevator was working, co we had to wait more than 20 minutes to take elevator since one is not enough for so many guests. This was really annoying. The rooms are spacious and clean.

No doubt a great surprise in the city of Santiago de Cuba. Mention that it is a retro vibe hotel that I like. a good breakfast and very good attention. Very fast check-in service, they gave us a refreshing towel and a natural juice. the room very comfortable and clean like the whole place. It has the best value for money and I would return without hesitation.

Our family stay at the Santiago Melia was a 5 star experience. From the pool bar, lobby bar/ restaurant and cleaning ladies all the staff was very welcoming and helpful. You are welcomed by a door man to help carry luggage too the room. Complementary tea, water and coffee in the room. The room was cleaned daily , the shower pressure was strong and hot! ( major bonus in Cuba) The breakfast and Dinner buffet was another 5 star experience, with a variety of dishes from beef, fish, chicken and pork. $15 for dinner / $10 breakfast if not booked together with your room reservation. A Special thanks to Luis Mario, he truly went above and beyond with helping our family of four feel welcome and comfortable during our four night visit. There is a clothing shop, money conversion bank, and several restaurants connected to the hotel, by the pool area. The pool area/ bar offers a daily entry pass ($25) for non hotel guest , which includes access to the pool, lunch and a drink. ( Bonus for entertaining local friends and family ) The employees defiantly take pride in keeping this location the best in Santiago de Cuba

Enjoyed our three-night stay. Excellent breakfast buffet. Room very comfortable. Only downside was the elevator. Our room was on the 7th floor and it seemed the elevator was always full when it stopped on our floor. Small inconvenience when looking at the big picture though.

Hotel Melia seems to be a very nice place to stay for Santiago, but compared to hotels around the world, it's a bit mediocre. We got a junior suite, which had nice views of the city and a large big bathroom. The hotel though clean, seems a bit aged. Smoking is very popular in Cuba so there was the scent of smoke in the hallways most of the time. The public spaces, e.g. lounge, pool, bar etc where top notch which is why I raised my review from 3 stars to 4 stars. I would recommend to stay here if you need a place to stay in Santiago, but temper your expectations since this is still Cuba. The hotel restaurant gets 2 stars out of 5. The food was somewhat bland and there is not that much variety. I would recommend eating as many meals off the compound.

Stayed here after flight was cancelled. Absolute pandemonium. Everyone flying solo was forced to share a room with a complete stranger and they refused to allow us to pay our own rooms.

Homely friendly hotel....I have been staying here for a long time. Excellent accommodation in the town of Santaigo. The reception staff are extremely efficient, friendly and helpful, including in all restaurants. Accommodation is clean and has fantastic attention to the customers Overall I had a great experience with the staff, it is incredibly helpful and the amenities were great. The rooms on floor 9 are beautiful, clean and perfectly cleaned every day. Grateful houskeeping team.

Probably the nicest hotel in Santiago de Cuba. Very good rooms, excellent staff, fine and hugely varied breakfast buffet. Food and drink are about double local prices here, but highly professional staff make communication easy and fun in many languages, and quality is good. My only reservation is that this seems like exactly the place for aggressive cons would be hanging out nearby and it is sometimes hard unless you get straight into a taxi to get out of the hotel zone without getting hassled, sometimes a bit too much. The hotel staff are great though and keep it all professional within the hotel grounds themselves.

Stayed here on November 5th, 2022 for two nights. This is after 4 days since they reopened. The hotel facilities are outstanding, and the staff even more. The welcome is great and overall feeling is that of a nice classy hotel. There were no limitations for food or drinks available. Breakfast was nice and freshly made. Pool bar and amenities also good. Small items in the room that needed attention which were promptly remedied. overall a good experience.

Beautiful hotel with modern amenities but be prepared to take taxis everytime you want to go into the city or do a fairly long walk in warm, muggy weather. Their hotel wifi is 4xs the price of buying a 1 CUP card and using it in every other hotel lobby, restaurant and park.

Very clean, good staff yet I thought the place could do a little better without much effort. I would recommend this hotel even though it is a little more expensive than other places I stayed in Cuba.

👍 After three weeks in Cuba, this was one of the best places where we ate. Not the ambiance that you expect, but still very nice. The food was really good, including the vegetarian option (see picture).

👍👍 What a great place! The food is exquisite, the ropavieja is delicious, the shrimp spectacular, Odalys and her husband served us wonderfully, an example of effort and perseverance. It is a must if you go to Santiago de Cuba.
