From the moment you arrive you are greeted with the welcoming "pitter patter" (sound of happy feet) racing towards you. I found this new and unique experience fun because we didn't disappoint our hosts as we came prepared with snacks that the iguanas loved. The park is beautiful with serene landscapes and rich geological history. This is a "must see" if you happen to be in the area.

We made a little boat trip. You can chose between 3 packages. 2000, 3000 or 5000 pesos for a boat (not per person, so we asked another group to share a boat, which was possible). We did the one of 3000 pesos which is 1 hour in a boat and we saw some crocodiles and a lot of birds. The guide Nono gave a lot of information. It was fun. (You also have to pay 150 pesos per person to enter the parc). In the parc there are some iguanas.

This is a fantastic place to visit. Make sure to have water and put on your sunblock as it is scorching 🔥 also. Take the tour to enjoy its beauty.

Nice National park and wildlife This was part of a tour from Ecotours barahona, they drove me here as part of the tour, then handed me over to a local park guide who spoke english and he did the tour of the park while my eco tour guide waited on shore. -The entrance and path to the water has lots of iguanas and i saw another lizard too. -I saw a tail of scorpion running on top of a rock, but when i went over i couldnt find it. -The park guide explained the lake history and wildlife from the entrance lodge, and then took me to the boats for the lake tour. -Showed me salt deposits on the dead trees from when the lake flooded. -took me directly to crocodiles in 2 different areas, he knew exactly where they would be. Saw maybe 10 different crocodiles in total, all where in the water, one was only few feet from the boat. -Saw many birds, as well as 2 lonely flamingos which is rare as they dont live there anymore since the water level dropped in the lake (less shallow water) -guide was great, spoke enough english to explain and answer questions. I recommend this lake, and the guide offered me 3 times to go swiming with the crocodiles, and he turned out to be serious, as those crocodiles dont eat things bigger then 1 foot, and shy of humans. But i didnt do it.

A long drive but a great way to see so many communities, natural pools and history.

A tiny but very special national park. A salt lake with crocodiles is not what you expect to see in a Caribbean national park. If you come early in the morning you will see the crocodiles close to where the fresh water runs out in the lake. Also the iguanas that live around the lake is a nice experience.
