Very nice experience! First time staying at the Renaissance in Santo Domingo and i must say, its been pleasant. The hotal is centrally located, with much to see and do. We love the pool area and the rooms are large and clean. I highly recommend this establishment for your stay here in beautiful Santo Domingo!

This is not the best Renaissance Hotel I have been too. I arrived at about 1:30 a.m. and the reception was not good at all. The agent gave me very little information about the situation at the hotel, but since I am a frequent traveler, I asked him several questions about how the hotel was operating. First thing I found out was that the executive lounge was not opened, but that I would get bonus points for the inconvenience (doesn’t make up for the loss of services). When I arrive to my room, there was no water, no coffee maker, nothing you expect to have at such a hotel. I called the front desk to get some water, and he actually told me that there was a empty sanitized carafe in the room, and that I should walk down the hallway to a water station… (really), after some choice words, they brought me some water to my room. The next morning I went down to use the gym, and found out that I could not use it without an appointment (something they again failed to tell me when I checked in), again, after some choice words they allowed me to use the gym that morning. I went to the gym, and I could not access it because my key didn’t open the door. So I returned to the front desk to find out that I needed to go to the Spa for them to allow me inside the gym. Again, something they failed to tell me. I ate breakfast at their restaurant every morning, and the food quality is good enough. However, the service is not. Generally speaking, most of the workers didn’t seem happy to be there, were generally indifferent to the customers. Had room service a couple of nights, and they food was good, warm and it was relatively quick. The room itself was big, comfortable bed, and nice amenities in the bathroom. However the hotel is old and requires a complete makeover. My bathroom door was rotted out from humidity and the door block was falling off. Because of the conditions of the hotel, limited services, and service in general, I think the hotel is overpriced, and would not recommend it.

EDIT*** customer service reached out to me and explained their situation with the pool and resolved the issue with me. I’ve adjusted my review. The fact they sought me out changes my review 5/5… 2.5/5 average stay. Pool was literally green with algae. Pretty old hotel for the price. There’s a highway between the pool and ocean. Deceptive photos. Not walking to any of the tourist spots. I’m a gold elite member with marriott, should’ve just booked an Airbnb

Make sure to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking any hotel. This web site will compare thousands of hotel sites and typically will have rooms much cheaper compared to others! Thank me later on! This resort is one of my favorites in the area. I've been staying here for a long time. If you decide to stay here you definitely won't be disappointed. Good rooms, breakfast is fine. The whole ground floor level inside and outside is very green and vibrant. There is a nice vibe here. Definitely nicer than the Sheraton next door which is quite a plain business hotel

I had a terrible stay. Food was cold, rude and slow waiters. The toilet was not clean during my 5 day visit. The male receptionist was extremely rude against me. I had so many problems during my stay in this hotel. Loud music from the disco at 1 am. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I order a shuttle due to late arrival but know shuttle arrived no apologies from the hotel. Stay away from this hotel.

My stay at the Renaissance was amazing! The people here are so nice. I had the most amazing experience. The property is clean and beautifully maintained. The pool area is a gorgeous site to see and the services/amenities offered is sufficient. I would certainly recommend this hotel for your traveling needs. I will certainly revisit in the near future.

Was much better than I expected - great value! The Service here is amazing. Love the executive lounge and the different ethnic food served each night. The food at the pool was also a great value with a variety of options. The Location is perfect for exploring Santo Domingo and less than 30 minutes from nice beaches.

We had a wonderful stay here with our two small kids. The hotel was in a beautiful location along the sea (our room had a partial sea view), the service was stellar, and the pool, restaurant, and fitness center are excellent. We especially appreciated Alexander’s help and service at the front desk. He was fantastic and even helped me call my rental car company to ask them a question I had in Spanish.

Very good hotel with good service. Food was pretty standard but very delicious. The bathrooms in the rooms were gorgeous, and the bed was comfy, although the rooms were a bit dated in comparison to the rooms at similar priced Marriott hotels. The pictures of the outdoor space don’t do it justice, it’s absolutely stunning. There was always enough seats by the pool and the service was great during the day. You have to cross a busy street with no designated crosswalks to get to the ocean and the shore is quite rocky and full of garbage (sad), so if that’s important to you, you might want to reconsider. That being said, we stayed here as opposed to an all inclusive and feel like we had a pretty great experience in comparison to all inclusive we’ve been to before. I would definitely recommend to anyone to stay here when in Santo Domingo!

Don't forget to use HoteITully.ᴄᴏm when booking a room. This web site will compare thousands of booking websites and normally will have rooms a lot cheaper than others! You're welcome :)! This place is the best rated in the area. I have been coming here for a very long time. If you decide to stay here you will love it I'm sure! I stayed here for a conference. The service was top notch! The breakfast buffet was incredible! Nice pool area with readily available food and cocktails. The rooms were well appointed and comfy.

Day pass by the pool $50 for "4 hours" includes 1 meal and 3 drinks. Food was great. Drinks were tasty. If you are there for the alcohol, i recommend paying the price diff for the name brands. Great service, nice view of the Malecon.

Update: downgraded to a one-star review because they charged my credit card the scam rate even though they gave me a new receipt. Old run-down hotel with outdated rooms and truly horrible customer service. Our rooms were booked with Marriott points and it took us over 45 min to check in while the receptionist argued about our points and tried to get us to pay. The next morning they tried to get us to pay AGAIN. Eventually they fixed the bill and corrected their error. But when our friends tried to check out they had two bills ready: one with the error (charging them $100USD) and one without. So they knew they were scamming us. Two stars instead of one because the pool is nice, breakfast was good, and we appreciated the filtered water dispenser by the elevator. But do not stay here: this hotel is craptastic and a blight on the Marriott name.

Visited here for a conference and everything was good. Rooms were clean and the food was good. The pool area is very nice as well. It is close to the ocean, however to get access to a closer view makes you cross 4 lanes of road. This can be very dangerous because cars will be moving at a fast pace.

The main restaurant has the best soup and is just good. Bar service and front desk workers are amazing. The hotel is clean, ample security and comfortable.

Upon checking in, I was disappointed to learn the pool would be down during our stay as we were attracted to the pool from the photos online which encouraged me to book. Nevertheless that was the only, issue & for a short moment. We had access to the Sheraton pool which was just as nice, & accommodating. Additionally, the service at Renaissance was phenomenal from the hotel staff, guest services, house keeping, room service.. the restaurant food was amazing, the cleanliness of the hotel & rooms were top tier, the aroma throughout the hotel, I can rant & rave all day. The Merengue club offered at the hotel which I had no idea of, was a blast including the 24/7 casino. I am soooo pleased with my stay there's no doubt that I will return. Thanks Marriott for everything! Thanks for providing exceptional service, I can't wait to return!

I've stayed here everytime I have come to Santo Domingo it's a great place to stay, make sure you get a taxi driver to get you around, since it's located south central of the city, and ask for a card (Better rates).

This hotel is by the Caribbean Sea on the malecón of Santo Domingo city. It’s very nice , clean and has an amazing view. It’s walking distance to many places. They have a big parking lot in case you drive and also offer valet parking. Their food is very tasty. The restaurants are very nice and has a good choice of dishes. The staff is very friendly. It’s a nice place to come with the family, couple or just business. It has a big casino , which on the weekends has live music . It’s a great place to celebrarte weddings or any kind of reception. They have 2 tennis court. They have gym. Well recommended.

The Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino is a luxurious oceanfront hotel located in the heart of Santo Domingo. The hotel offers a variety of amenities and services, including: spacious rooms and suites with stunning views of the ocean or the city. And surprisingly only one restaurant and bar serving international and local cuisine. An outdoor pool with a poolside bar, a casino, and a variety of meeting and event space. The Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino is the perfect place to stay for a relaxing or exciting vacation in Santo Domingo. The hotel's location is ideal, with easy access to the city's top attractions. However, the airport ride can take between 45 minutes to an hour. The staff was always friendly and helpful, going out of their way to make sure that I had a pleasant stay. The spa was amazing, with a variety of treatments to choose from. The fitness center was well-equipped and had a great view of the city. The pool was beautiful and refreshing, with plenty of lounge chairs to relax on. The executive lounge located on the top floor of the hotel, with a balcony and a stunning views of the city. The amenities includes: complimentary food drinks snacks and foods in the evening. Overall, I had an excellent stay at the Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino. The hotel is luxurious, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the amenities are top-notch. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great vacation in the Dominican Republic.

Great location, right on the malecon. Lots to do in and around the hotel. Pool area is nice. Casino is popping late night. Make sure you visit Merengue Bar for music and drinks. Staff is friendly and attentive. Comfy beds in spacious rooms. Modern and clean. Love it every time I’m there.

I can’t complaint about facilities. It has a nice pool, average rooms, good gym, cozy coffee bar and a confortable restaurant. But the service is far away from high standards.

Excellent hotel, very comfortable and modern. It’s in a Great location and has free parking. The casino is great mostly (with the exception of some ghetto ish locals), and the bar at the casino is a lot of fun on weekends.

Pros: Amazingly kind and friendly Staff Location is perfect Room size is perfect Cleanliness of hotel/Masks required Environment of the hotel is for couples, singles and families Security is accommodating and kind Pool area/outdoor sitting area are perfect for day and night use Trash pick-up is frequent Cons: No microwave (I asked for one for 3 days and got it 48 before leaving; I traveled with a baby) Restaurant (The dinner menu selection is good, but breakfast is definitely a bust. Purchasing meals at the hotel gets very expensive and the portions aren’t large.) Room service (My food always arrived luke warm) Housekeeping (I requested housekeeping for 3 days and never got it) **If traveling during COVID-19 curfew, very very very few taxis are available. The ones that are are expensive. No ubers available.**

Beautiful and comfortable place to stay in Santo Domingo. In front of the sea and close to the city main touristic attractions. Breakfast is very good and they have a coffee shop close to a garden with small waterfalls.

Enjoyed the hotel, staff, housekeeping (I have a non potty trained toddler so they were very helpful), the fashionable baristas at the coffee shop and ate from the restaurant everyday. Enjoyed the outdoor landscape especially by the pool. Recommend!

Wonderful hotel. Loved our stay. Big room. Friendly staff. Beautifully located along the Caribbean Sea. It's away from the tourist area so it's not as crowded. It's surrounded by huge hotels. And plenty of delicious restaurants in walking distance!

My stay at this fine establishment was one of THE BEST experiences that I have ever had. The facility is a little dated but the grounds were pretty and maticulously kept. Everything needed is right there, you don't have to leave if you don't want to. There's a bank machine, gym, hair salon, boutique, restaurant, cafe and I'm sure I'm forgetting more. The staff was so warm and welcoming. Rafael at Luna(the hotel restaurant) was the best server I have ever had. Pedro who greeted us and took us to our room was a breath of fresh air. Everyone was so willing to help and very was very appreciative and humble. The gym is stocked with modern equipment and very clean The restaurant onsite was very convenient and the food was delicious. Our room was clean, bed was comfortable. I will definitely.be a repeat customer.

It's a chain hotel, usual amenities but good. Miha in reception was very helpful, service staff pretty good especially by the pool. Pool had issues while I was there, didn't open til noon. I would go back.

  • 5/5 Emanuel C. 1 year ago on Google
Everything about the hotel was awesome! Great people, service, food, convenient, the only thing I would advise against is leaving the hotel grounds as people are always actively looking to rip off foreign travelers/vacationers. They'll ask for the time and signal their friends once you respond with anything but dominican spanish. So be on the lookout...

Overall, we loved our stay at the Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua. The food was great as was the service we received from everyone we came into contact with. The only setback we experienced was that the managers and receptionists did not initially want to honor the complimentary 3 garment press we should have received for staying in an executive suite and from Marriot Bonvoy. When we called the front desk to verify, we were told multiple times that this hotel specifically does not honor that offer. At checkout, we were told it would be adjusted and to be honest, I have not verified it. It was $8 for only 1 garment that I needed pressed and due to other matters, I just never checked (I had other garments I needed to get dry cleaned, which I understood was not part of the offer. The press and dry cleaning service was excellent by the way).

Great hotel. Their pool is open until 10pm! That is the best reason to come here. Very comfortable. Great beds. Clean rooms. Friendly Staff. Breakfast Buffet. (Try the mangú!!) A casino in the lobby (We didn't go though) 24 hour room service. You can order Uber eats with no problems. Filtered water dispenser next to your elevator. Lounge on the 10th floor. 🎾 Tennis courts. Great place to stay and feel safe.

The best hotel in s-d. We stayed at room 917 and oh man what an experience. Food is excellente, service is #1, you got a casino, huge pool, room service all day, gym, spa, massage and everything you need to have fun. A lot of beautiful places to sit and relaxe. The security is also #1, all doors are heavily watched (even casino) and you need card access to go pretty much anywhere. But dont get me wrong, locals are very friendly and the neighborhood is safe. Make sure to be generous with staff and with the locals because most these people cant afford what we do so guys dont forget to give back to these beautiful country. We will be coming back next year

Recommened also for a day pass. We went to use the pool area for one day and we loved it.. the staff was so friendly..from the parking guy to the servers at the pool area.. all so nice.. the price is fine, since it also includes few drinks and a main course.. pool was relaxing, clean.. nice green area for the kids to play.. we really enjoyed it. Would def be back.

A very nice hotel centrally located. The beaches are across the street, a casino is located inside the hotel. The restaurant is quite good and all the staff I encountered were amazing. Traffic can be very bad in Santo Domingo so plan ahead. The rooms are clean, large and nice.

  • 3/5 Reco J. 1 year ago on Google
I have never stayed at the hotel. But i like the casino. The service at the casino is sub par. Often it is impossible to find a waitress. Also the dealers rudely insist on tips if you are American. However, this casino is larger than the others and attracts a nice crowd especially when there is live music.

  • 5/5 Anthony G. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing place. We played tables, had free drinks and they really took care of us. The place is big and will get crowded on the weekends.

The Renaissance Santo Domingo is the first hotel I stayed at on my first trip to the Dominican Republic. The service and location of this hotel is excellent. The building is a little bit older but very well maintained and even has a local classic Dominican charm to it. The Marriott bonvoy elite status lounge is excellent with a great view of the city from the balcony. Having a bonvoy elite status pays for itself at this hotel with all the extra amenities you receive. It took me the better part of a day just to cover the large area of this hotel including the many amenities. Lots of gardens, swimming, pool, outdoor bar, and recreation. There are a bunch of tennis courts and a great fitness center. There are many sitting areas with comfortable chairs if you're looking to find a quiet spot. The staff made a consistent effort to make sure my stay was perfect.

While I've stayed at many 4-5 star hotels in Santo Domingo/the Santo Domingo area over the past six months, Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino is simply the best. In addition to its superb location, facilities, and services, Rafael, our front desk clerk/receptionist was great. From arrival to departure ,Rafael continually goes above and beyond, exceeding my expectations. I highly recommend Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino and Rafael.
