Our modern and very thoughtful designed junior suite had a nice ocean view, the pool is great and the whole area around it , is beautiful with a bar and a restaurant. The location is very central, nice and safe. The hotel has a ample parking area. The service is generally great. This hotel is very recommendable, it will be our first choice, when we stay in Santo Domingo.

Overall, the hotel is excellent. We enjoy the Lobby Bar each evening but it’s a hot mess. There are 2 ladies who wait on customers AND make their own drinks all while this guy sits by the coffee machine and acts like a cashier doing nothing. The result is a huge wait time to get any service…let alone a drink.

Have stayed at this hotel a couple times, everything was fine. Last time I booked a room, the website refreshed and I got charged for 2 rooms instead of one. I went to the reception and asked for help, they gave me an email and said that everything will get resolved. However, no one responds to the emails, and no refunds have ever been issued. Update, Feb 10th: It's been 20 days since my first email (I sent 3), and no one has yet responded. Update, Feb 25th: Still not a single response

We decided not to do an all-inclusive DR resort style vaycay. We wanted to experience the culture and local atmosphere and environment. El Embajador has not let us down. We arrived about 530 pm on Friday. We were greeted with smiles at check-in. No need to worry about bags! They will meet you at your room. We got the royal package. So you have a separate Royal check-in. On the 8th floor. When entering the royal check-in suite, you are again greeted with smiles. We were checked in with Ester. Super sweet, attentive, thorough, very pleasant, and welcoming young lady. They do a great job at making your feel valued. As a royal guest, you have access to free drinks (wines, spirits sodas, juices) and the small plate variety dishes. Mostly finger foods and finger dishes. But the cherry on top in the royal guest suite was the server. Juan Carlos!. Very soft spoken, but so very calming in his presence and service. You can tell he's a kind, peaceful, gentle soul, and it is his pleasure to serve perfect service with smiles and a great attitude. If your lucky enough to cross paths with this guy, your in for a treat..(he deserves everything great. Tip quality service! The rooms are spectacularly spacious. As well as the gardens( property grounds). Beautiful bathroom and amenities. Perfect king sized bed. The lighting is a Lil tricky, but you'll get it. The grounds are of beautiful open gardens. Nice pool. It's deep!! And i don't swim😀😀but it is peaceful to lay out in one of the lounges. They also have a small casino on the property.. I thought that was cool and different. I would suggest the royal package. Free food and drinks.. I'm all in..(be sure to Qr scan the menu. You'll love it here. It gives the feel of a resort, sat smack dab in the middle of the heart of the city of Santo Domingo. So close to city life, still secluded enough to where your not bothered by it. Today, we plan to walk a few blocks in this immediate area.. just to get comfortable with our surroundings

I received the worse service by the manager Victor Vicioso he purposefully charged our room twice; the manager has yet to reimburse us or answer our emails and it was he himself who charged us double; even though we had been speaking to him directly via email and in person, when the room was cleaned service did not add soaps or conditioner and shampoo and I was told by them they ran out. The plumbing had a problem which was reported and never fixed. The food in the mini bar was spoiled, this was reported to Victor de manager at the moment of check out and he still made us pay a ridiculous price for food that was spoiled, stale and made me sick. Overall HORRIBLE SERVICE, HORRIBLE MANAGER, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. *This treatment is unacceptable; specially because I had reserved 8 rooms due to my foreign wedding guest, and even with all this the manager gave us the worse experience I have ever had in my life.

If you are planning on doing a destination wedding here — DONT! DO NOT! After being told in writing that our guests who booked through the link they provided and used the wedding code would be allowed to cancel without penalty, they lied! I even showed the email where I was told that all guests are under free cancellation. After waiting for three months post wedding I was told that the guests who had to cancel (mainly due to death and illness) would not be reimbursed. We spent thousands of dollars on our wedding here and brought over 150+ guests to the hotel for a long weekend and this is the thanks we get. Don’t do wedding business with them because they will not appreciate your business.

Very nice hotel but it need some improvement to be 5 stars even 4 stars Our room was full of ants it keeps coming even that we reported it many times The food at the pool restaurant was good but the room service was not good at all The pool has limited seating while the towels seems to be drying for ever The reception at night never answered the calls until we have to go down and talk to them The waiters at the VIP lounge are rude and never smile during our long stay The casino was good

This hotel is as close to perfect as you can come. The Staff is friendly and helpful in every way. Yara, the guest experience manager made my experience the best. If you come to Santo Domingo this is the place to stay. Thank me later. I am the pickiest guy there is so I had to be impressed to say all this. Sincerely Jeff Peck

I booked a couples massage for my birthday and I got there right on the hour of my appointment. They said they had to take 15 minutes off of the massage because I was late. I understand that if I was late but there was no one else at the spa they could have made an exception so I still got my full hour massage. For a $200 massage after I finished one of the attendants was rushing me to pay while I was waiting for my partner. The spa was empty besides us.

The hotel is a gem. The service is impeccable. RAMON doorman super sweet professional, always kind. The ladies in the Ambassador lounge are very professional, Santos very attentive. The rooms are like a small spa. Those beds are amazing. The buffet breakfast has a great variety. We sat in the garden to enjoy the weather and food. One night, we had drinks in the lobby and they had live music. It is very lovely and relaxing.

The embajador is gorgeous. The rooms are great. The Hotel's services could use some upgrades. Pool towels are not stocked at the outdoor pool. You must walk to spa to ask for them. Sauna is by appointment. Indoor pool is exclusive to guests who use other spa services. Food at restaurant is subpar for a five ⭐ (breakfast and dinner) I would stay again, but come better prepared as I feel hotel amenities should be more accessible to guests. Fire alarms went off all night during my first night

I stayed at the hotel. Fantastic modern rooms. Service is excellent. Pool is clean. I also visited 4 other hotels in Santo Domingo. This hotel is the best hotel in town.

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely amazing! The best part is the service. The staff are attentive and go above and beyond to meet your needs. Definitely a 5 star experience! It was my husband's first time in the Dominican Republic and he fell in love! He was blown away by this beautiful country and culture and our stay at El Embajador. We especially want to thank Mariel who made sure we received impeccable service every morning during breakfast. Thank you!

I loved everything about our stay. Beautiful and exceptionally kept grounds, wonderful spa experience, and good food. My only complaint was front desk staff. They are slow, only had one person working, and gave me a hard time to pay and check out early since we had to leave by 5:30 am. I waited close to 20 minutes to pay our tab. Also, we stayed for 6 days, and after 4 days, I misplaced my room key card, and was asked for ID (after giving ALL my details) in order to get another. BTW, I'm a 6'0 tall Black woman and I know that no other guests looked like me. I've never been asked for ID and I travel a LOT! That said, I'd still go back and give them a 9 out of 10!

LOVED LOVED LOVED! I stayed here to celebrate my partner’s birthday weekend and it was amazing. I added the romantic package to our booking and called the hotel to get some customizations and they were able to give me everything I wanted and more. The only downside was that unfortunately the main pool was being renovated during our stay, so we didn’t have access to the pool, but we were offered access to the spa’s pool and the pool at a neighbor hotel. I want to give a special shout out to one of the managers, Yara, who was able to exceed my expectations since even before I got to the hotel all the way to the moment of checkout. The ambiance of the hotel and the nature surrounding the hotel was breath taking. Breakfast was also amazing! I’m looking forward to revisit this hotel in the future!

Went for a Mother’s Day Brunch and it was great! Service was on point and food was very good with many options (pasta, salads, cut to serve Rib Eye, Shrimp, etc) including a separate kids menu. The restaurant has a view to one of the best gardens in Santo Domingo City. For sure, will return next year.

Great hotel and is definitely 5 stars across the board. It is also very conveniently located to major touristic areas like Three Eyes and Zona Colonial. I also saw Tekashi 6ix9ine on my stay. Best thing was service, the housekeeping always cleaned the room thoroughly and changed the sheets regularly and the room service was always prompt with food and they'd even call you again to make sure everything was ok. If there was one thing I didn't like, I would say the folks at the front desk including the doorman were a bit cold sometimes, didn't smile very much and sometimes would act like you weren't standing in front of them. Some other comments seem to flag the same thing, so glad to see it's not just me. But if you are from New York, you are already used to this type of thing, so it was not a big deal.

My first time in Santo Domingo and it was amazing!!! It began with a quick simple check in with your front desk agent Liliana she was an absolute gem, she greeted us with a smile and a welcome. Lilana was knowledgeable, sweet and very informative when it came to the hotel amenities. Our first day there we enjoyed the pool which was immaculate and some pool side drinks which were delicious!!! I also had the pleasure of meeting Jose & Nicole in the VIP lounge they were attentive, and extremely gracious. I also want to mention James at the front desk who helped me extend my day an extra day he was amazing. I'm a firm believer in giving kudos to great customer service and they definitely out did themselves can't wait to come back again thank you!! Aracelis Baez NYC

Currently awake at 1:30AM. I beg you…Don’t stay here on weekends or holidays. This place is very popular for weddings. I’m Dominican and know this hotel very well. It’s a beautiful venue - truly. The rooms are insanely great. The pool area is immaculate. BUT… The noise and bass from wedding parties will have you up all night. I asked if there was wedding this weekend to which I was told no- that was sadly not accurate. The noise is unbearable and your hope for a restful sleep will be dashed. It can and will ruin your stay/vacation. They also said there were no other rooms to put me into which is also likely not true. Undoubtedly someone will reply below and say something canned about being sorry or about reinforced windows. But please don’t be swayed. It’s worse than you can imagine. I gave two stars because the rooms are really that great. If you do stay over a weekend please do yourself a favor and stay well above the first four floors. But pls learn from me and my ruined night before a long flight - just go elsewhere. It’s almost 2AM and my night is so awful I’m up writing a google review. THATS HOW BAD THIS IS. Please upvote so everyone sees this and we can save them PS their replies are all canned responses. They don’t actually write anything specific and are “dismayed” by a bad review. Just stay away. DO. NOT STAY HERE.

THANK GOD this is my last day in this hotel. We stayed for 11 nights, July 2-12, 2023 in room 419. For a luxury hotel, the service is very poor! I really expected MORE. 1. Breakfast selection is poor. 2. When they clean the room, they don't refill coffee, tea or put new stirs and since they have no spoons in the room (a luxury hotel), I had to stir my coffee with my tooth brush at one time. Terrible. When I went down to the lobby for my complaints, the did the refills the next day. 3. Worst of all, I HAD TO ASK for toilet paper refill, because they even did NOT notice that we were running out of toilet paper. JEEEZZZZ...... 4. We are a family of 3, but they put just 1 mug. I don't get it. After complaining, the put 2....still don't get it. I dropped the case after this, because they won't get it after all. 5. The fridge was leaking water inside and when I called the operator for this matter, she said that she will send someone, but till this day (my last day in here) nobody ever came. 6. We had two sinks in the bathroom and one was clogged since day one. I gave the cleaning service a chance to take note of this, but nopes, nobody sees that. I had to go to the lobby for this complaint. 7. On this very last day we ordered room service again, and the lady dropped the porcelain pepper jar on the floor. The floor was dirty with pepper and pieces of porcelain. She said she will send someone right away to clean it up. After 30 minutes, still nobody came, so I called the operator and the came to clean up the floor after 15 min. Btw, the lasagne was waaaay overcooked and the angus beef was not medium well like we ordered. It was well well done. 8. The shower cabin and the toilet space are next to each other, but separated with glass. Every time we took a shower, the toilet space filled up with water, because of a leakage in the glass. Nobody notices this of course. Furthermore, the hotel is very boring. In my opinion, it serves business purposes best. There's not much to do, especially not for family. For me the pool area does not match a luxury hotel.

I learned from some local people that this is an old hotel, but the property is beautiful! The rooms are extremely comfortable and spacious. I didn't really have occasion to use any services or facilities as I was there for business. I had room service once and unfortunately, didn't like anything that I ordered! Calamari was rubbery, croquettes were dry, cake was dry...it was surprising because it actually looked great! The room service staff was very apologetic when she came to pick up the tray, but of course, they still charged me for the meal that I couldn't even eat 10% of! That was my only complaint.

Beautiful Hotel in the city of Santo Domingo. The room was amazingly clean, beautiful and very comfortable. The decorations were very nice and modern. The breakfast delicious. The gardens are breathtaking and well maintained. The staff are very nice, kind and welcoming. This hotel is a gem. Definitely my favorite hotel ever in Santo Domingo.

Very good hotel worth the 5 stars.Nice room.Only thing is some staff members need more training.Like the young girl that waiters at the pool, the ladies working at the spa and the security/doorman at the casino.I don’t wanna get greeted with things like “jefe”.Just sir or gentlemen like any other guests. The ladies at the front desk of the spa don’t even great when you enter and look at you with a “what are you doing here?” face. The young waitress at the pool had an attitude and just wanted to argue instead of assist when i wanted to order a strawberry caipirinha. This happens a lot in the DR.Some staff treat Dominicans different specially when you look young and dress casual/sporty.I’m a guest not your friend.Other than that it was almost perfect for the price

The people at the front desk are lazy and inept. First no one answers the phone. Then they leave you waiting and then hang up on you. I was very worried about my husband as he wasn’t picking up his phone or answering in his room which isn’t like him. He is older and I wanted someone to do a welfare check. When I finally did get someone on the phone, theyd put me on hold for 20 minutes. Then they told me he never checked in- which I knew wasn’t true and then hung up on me. After two hours, and at least ten phone calls where I spoke to numerous people who just put me on hold. I was almost in tears when finally a compassionate woman answered and said, “Don’t worry señora, I’m going to go check on your husband myself.” She did and it turns out he was ok. Her name was “Lizbeth Ventura”. She should be the manager at this place. The only person with some BRAINS in this hotel. God bless her!!

We made a reservation at this hotel 4 months in advance and paid for it. One week before our trip, they emailed us to say the price would be 4 times higher. Do not stay here. They will change the price and not respond on email or phone. It’s unbelievable.

The location itself is dated, but nice. The staff is crazy slow and not helpful at all. Don't appreciate their guests, only about making money as much as possible and as soon as possible.

Este hotel es demasiado Caro para el poco servicios que dan. This hotel tried to rip me off 15k for a mini bar that was never filled in the 10 days I stayed there. The rooms were rarely cleaned, the food was atrocious. They expected a tip for everything and anything.

I am scheduled to attend a wedding at this hotel on August. Called the reservation team and asked for the discounted rate for those attending. She said she could only provide me a link, to view this information on line, if I send a hard letter to her department requesting it. Let’s remember that there is no postal service in DR so I guess I have to spend $75 on FedEx to get back an URL on which I will find a $30 offer. It does not get any more stupid than this. Our new go-to hotel in Santo Domingo. Very nice! The breakfast is a buffet you would find in a resort, nothing Continental about it. Omlette station, cold cuts, cheeses, oatmeal, and all sorts of goodies. A stark contrast to the dinner menu, which is expensive, small, and from what we tried, not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. The rooms are very upscale with good quality items. Roomy, comfortable, and the AC is freezing cold, should you want it. We'll be back every trip to The Capital.

Nice hotel. Beautiful Garden. Nice staff. Good rooms, not perfectly clean and with leaking shower door problems. Great pool. But after 7 pm it is not allowed to be in the garden and pool area anymore. Very strict rules. Sad if you just want to read a book. Still lots of very loud party in the garden, which seem to be private. Not very comfy alternatives. And the doors in the piscina floor (2nd floor) already were closed directly at 7 pm, so your are not even allowed to go back in the hotel after 7 pm. Very strange.

Truly an amazing place and the rooms were super clean and enjoyed the embasador junior suit with the jacuzzi tub , this is luxury done right. The staff was amazing the snack bar area was great. Just wish that their gym had a lot more free weights or the cable flys. Also the snacks in the room should be swapped out my snickers tasted old.

I will put a perfect rating here.... Not because it's perfect, but because it's deserved. Rooms are great, nice breakfast, we love to stay here every time we are in Santo Domingo.... You will not find better for such a fair price.

Customer service was terrible, I called the front desk to put me through to the room service and the lady hung up on me on three different times. Also, I think there is some sort of scam going on with the in room mini bar, they'll try to charge you more money at checkout, because they know you're rushing to check out and get to the airport. They tried to charge me for things that I didn't even touch at all. I don't drink alcohol of any sort, but at checkout they tried to charge me for two bottles. I had to dispute it and we kept going back and forth before they finally cut the price in half. Don't use their mini bar except if you want to pay three times what it's worth at checkout. Also, at checkout give yourself enough time because they customer service agent was so slow and it was only one person, the manager was on her cellphone texting the whole time and she wasn't willing to help, even though she saw the line was long. She said, I only have one staff to check you guys out, I said what about you and she said, just wait for the agent and walked away. The rooms are clean and the hotel is clean overall.

The only problem that I experienced was we kept having problems with our key cards getting in and out our rooms and the house keeping kept forgetting to leave washcloths in our bathroom. But overall, this is one of the best hotels I been in. Thank you for your Service.

Great place for an awesome getaway, meals, and relaxation. I’ll give four stars cause the main bar is lacking premium bottles such as Macallan versions and bourbons. I suggest to add bourbons such as Basil Hayden’s, Angels Envy, Makers Mark, Bulleit, and Eagle Rare. Kudos to Arelis. If she can make a mean Manhattan with Jim Beam, I can only imagine what can she make with great bourbons like the ones mentioned before.

Plain and simple - one of the best hotels we have been to in The Dominican Republic. It is not perfect though, there were a few issues with the A.C. and the shower, and yet, they were solved quickly and professionally.

  • 4/5 Katie N. 1 year ago on Google
The snacks on the 5th floor need to be revised. The best night was when there was a veggie wrap, something that looked like a hummus dip, and picks with mozzarella balls and cherry tomatoes. But other nights the snacks were boring. Back in the day there was more spanish ham and bruschetta. Honoring the history that the furniture in the lobby has is wonderful, but some wooden pieces need paint touch up, just for aesthetic purposes. Overall though, it's a wonderful hotel. Every single staff member is on point with service from the moment you step outside the car.

Unfortunately not a five star experience. They called security for eating by the pool although the food menu is at every pool lounger. They never notified me at the time of my order that food was not allowed at the pool. The security took my to-go box in front of all the guests. Had I been aware of the no food policy beforehand, I would not have ordered food. Needless to say I won’t be returning. I recommend the Sheraton or Renaissance for better service. Update: Johanny Sosa (guest experience manager) gave excellent service expected form a 5 star resort. She was professional, compassionate and helpful. I will consider returning in the future.

*** Update - it's much worse *** At the first night several desk people told it was only one time thing. They lied. This evening there is another wedding going on. We checked some other rooms. They all had serve problems, once it was the general AC system that make noise at the room (even when the AC closed) and the other was next to really loud noisy parrots ( what they call the eco migration park ) DON'T COME HERE IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO RELAX *** Original *** This place might host a noisy event till the small hours of the night. They don't see it as a problem and won't notify you about it. As a paying guest, I expected a certain level of comfort and peace during my stay, which unfortunately was not met. It was evident that the management of the hotel failed to take into account the needs and comfort of their guests when scheduling such a noisy and disruptive event.
