Been here three times. And honestly I can't complain. Food is amazing, service as well. Food comes out hot and the portion is right. The appetizers are delicious, the short ribs tacos are so tender and good and the tuna tartar as well. Love it. Third time here and like I said love it. A little of a wait for the food. But worth it. Staff as well is nice and welcoming. I have eaten inside and outside both are nice and cozy. 🤗😌

As I made my way through the streets of Santo Domingo, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. I was on my way to Laurel, a restaurant that had been recommended to me as one of the best places in the city to experience modern, innovative cuisine. As I entered the restaurant, I was struck by the sleek, modern decor. The walls were adorned with contemporary art, and the lighting was dim and atmospheric. It was clear that Laurel was a place that took both food and ambiance seriously. I perused the menu, which offered a range of inventive dishes that blended traditional Dominican ingredients with international techniques. I decided to start with the ceviche, which was made with local sea bass and served with a yuzu and ginger dressing. The ceviche arrived at my table, and I was immediately struck by the bright, fresh flavors. The sea bass was tender and delicate, with just the right amount of acidity from the dressing. It was the perfect way to start the meal. For my main course, I opted for the pork belly, which had been slow-cooked to perfection and served with a mango and habanero glaze. The pork was melt-in-your-mouth tender, with a rich, smoky flavor that was perfectly balanced by the sweetness and heat of the glaze. But what really set Laurel apart was the attention to detail. Each dish was a work of art, carefully plated and presented with precision. The flavors were bold and innovative, but never at the expense of the quality of the ingredients. As I ate, I couldn't help but marvel at the skill of the chefs at Laurel. They had taken the flavors and ingredients of the Dominican Republic and elevated them to a whole new level, creating a dining experience that was both familiar and exciting. But what really made Laurel special was the sense of community. The staff were warm and welcoming, eager to share their passion for food with me. They were happy to explain each dish in detail, sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm with a genuine love for their craft. As I left Laurel, I felt grateful for the opportunity to experience such incredible food in such a beautiful and welcoming environment. Laurel is truly a gem in the heart of Santo Domingo, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable dining experience.

Set in the capital city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Laurel is considered one of the high-end restaurants for fine dining. The exterior facade is modern with a spacious open concept dining area cultivating an interior rustic feel. Laurel is considered to be an above average dining experience compared to the world fine dining in United States. I dont suspect it would be on the Michelin Guide radar per se however among the locals, Laurel came highly recommended as one of the best restaurants to visit. Our meal began with a fresh beef carpaccio fused with olive oil and deep fried shrimp tempura. All ingredients were fresh and savory without any complaints. Our main included a filet mignon steak with mashed potato cooked topped with an in-house sauce which was very good. Our second main was a buttery penne pasta with shrimp garnished with tomato and greens. We concluded our meal with an in-house churros dessert with rich creamy chocolate on the side for dipping. Concluding with a honey-infused cappuccino to wash it everyone down. Overall the experience was very pleasant. The food was great! If anyone is seeking a fancy dining experience Laurel is highly recommended! Ten Tier Diamond Award

As fair food critic, this is the best tasting restaurant in Dominican republic. I stay in Dominican republic 4 months out of the year so I have ate everywhere in this country and nothing compared to this . Average entree is $20 USD. That is a great price for a five-star restaurant. I highly recommend the miso glaze salmon and dumplings. Don't go anywhere else but here . This restaurant can compete in NYC or Vegas restaurant.

Probably the restaurant with the best tasting food in Distrito Nacional. I the service and atmosphere were amazing as well. I ordered the Ginger Soy Salmon, which also came with fried rice. OMG! It was like I bit into heaven. Very very well made dish. Good job, Laurel!

This is a fusion restaurant with a great variety of appetizers. I recommend ordering a lot of appetizers to share instead of ordering entree. Every time I go back home I try this place, it’s good, but the food is getting a bit old they need to create better dishes I am no longer impressed by their food.

Not Covid19 awareness, waiters do not attend to the table properly when restaurant is crowded. Food is great, service nothing like that. Too bad but I can't recommend it at all.

Amazing food. True Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 experience. The host was amazing. The food was extraordinary and the wine exquisite. Hope the have the Blush Rum for desert. The woman that makes it, knows rum! Atmosphere is earthly, tranquil and inviting. Definitely stop in for an amazing experience for your taste buds!!!

Easy to get to. Clean and nicely decorated and spacious. Out door dining as well. A well stocked bar, but limited seating at bar. Friendly bartender as well as staff. Nice menu and fair prices. Very comfortable. Would go again.

The atmosphere of the restaurant its great. The service is great. I love that all the waiters help you, not only the one assigned to your table. Food is very good. I ordered a California salad and it was very fresh. The only complained I heard on my table is that the amount of wine they served in a glass is very little. That is better to charge more and serve more.

The food was delicious, but the service is deficient. Me and my friends felt bad because we could see how the waiters were diligent with other people and we were frequently ignore 👎🏼

This place lived up to the hype. The food, the atmosphere, the drinks, and the service. I had the Korean Churrasco and it was perfectly cooked as well as well seasoned. My wife and I ordered the Mío Mío which is a passion fruit-vodka blend and we continuously ordered more rounds. If you traveling here and you want a place that has a mix of traditional Dominican food with a upscale twist, this is the place for you.

Waiters attention wasn’t good, yes they’re polite and smiling but asked twice to fix a crooked table - nothing, a bit of salsa for dry focaccia - nothing. Food wasn’t restaurant level: we’ve got baby back ribs - it came bathed in regular store bbq sauce,- and a risotto - felt like a normal rice. Sitting: looks like in Europe: you’re not sure if you’re sitting with your party or a neighbors table, toooo close, no breathing inside or outside. Outside smoking cigars everywhere 🤦🏻‍♀️ with kids in next table - manager can’t care less. Getting our car from valet took like 20min. Saturday. Afternoon. Bottom line: pricy regular supermarket food with no good site. I’d not spend a penny there.

A bit overpriced for my preference. Parking is difficult, we had to return the octupus we ordered because it was overcooked (burned) aonit was very bitter. The check took more than 20 minutes to arrive after we asked for it. It is not a bad place, but I was definitely expecting top service and food as I had in previous experience. Waiter was very nice and the pink wine we ordered was chilly and at a good temperature.

What an interesting place this one was - some mix of an upscale wine cellar and new modern vibe. The food menu has a similar identity crisis, with offerings ranging from sushi to burgers to pastas and pizzas. They all have the done up look that should justify a bigger price tag, but the flavors just barely fail to live up to that hype. From what I had, the truffle dumplings were definitely at the top - great acid to fat ratio. The gnocchi was pillow soft with no bite and little flavor. Their namesake burger also slightly missed the mark, sporting nothing more than a scoop of meh slaw and a slice of cheese while the burger was cooked perfectly. Overall I enjoyed my meal here and it's certainly worth a visit if nearby in Santo Domingo.

Delicious meal, big portions, and fantastic service especially from the manager on duty who rushed over and grabbed the water bottle from my hand to pour it himself! Great space and ambiance, definitely seemed like a local spot for those well off, lots of people having celebrations or meals with friends. Worth the uber over if you’re staying in the zona colonial! Note that you won’t really be able to stay in the area and walk around to see more as it’s more of a driving part of the city.
