Summary of below: BEWARE menu prices do not match prices on the cheque and management won’t honor the menu prices. All conversations with restaurant staff were done in Dominican Spanish, not English. We came to this place for dinner because of the rooftop terrace at the edge of the Colonial Zone. Upon arrival we spoke to yeh hostess about the “Mexican Kitchen” options on the menu, and even asked why they were cheaper than so many other options in the menu (the hostess and a waiter’s response were that it’s because of the type food and left it at that). We went upstairs and ordered the quesadillas with a different waiter. I asked this new waiter if it was possible to get a shrimp quesadilla bc it wasn’t on the menu but I was feeling it. He grabbed a menu himself and looked at the options we were discussing with him. I ended up ordering a chicken quesadilla (on the menu) and my partner got a chicken and ham quesadilla (the exact menu item). The listed price was 620 Dominican pesos for each. When the cheque came out, the chicken quesadilla was listed as 800 and the chicken/ham as 870. We told the waiter about the discrepancy. He left and returned with the manager. The manager apologized for this incorrect price, had a full out conversation with us explaining that the prices had changed and they hadn’t updated the menu (and somehow neither the hostess nor the TWO waiters we discussed this food with knew of the price change). They left and returned with another cheque, leaving off one of the tax charges and not changing anything else. Now after all of that, the food wasn’t even worth the price on the menu. One small tortilla cut into 4 pieces with a tablespoon (not heaping) of guac and a heaping teaspoon of sour cream. The quesadilla was soggy on the bottom, and they only used one cheese inside of low-regular quality. The chicken was plain and without any flavor or spices. Even without the fraudulent activities, this place would only get 3 stars max. Literally the only good thing about this restaurant is the building itself (location, view, clean bathrooms). Will not be coming back and will advise anyone I know not to as well.

While the dishes looks nice, unfortunately the taste is not that good. The meat is not done professionally.. it come out too cooked and dry. As if unfrozen by a microwave. And the prices are are way too expensive for what you get. I recommend you visit Pat’e Palo next door..

Beautiful place, worst food sine long time. Bad presentation, burned potatoes, watery para to purée , tuna completely overcooked. Don’t spend your money on food. Get drinks

Pricey and the service is not in its game. Not the worst choice I've made but not the best start to my vacation either :/

The food is not fresh nor well cooked. We ordered both meet and fish, clearly frozen. The Drinks were extremely sweet, couldn’t finish any of our good. Price Vs quality not worth at all. The only good thing about this place is the location. Overall: Go for a beer and sit outside if all the other places in the plaza are busy.

So bad experience, food not fresh and not good quality, prices to high do not worth it, bad service from the server since he was doing so many mistakes, do not waste your time and money going there. Overrated.

Wish I could give half stars, if so I'd give 2.5 stars. Food was delivered to the table lukewarm at best. Waiter responded promptly and returned with a new plate with another steak and mashed potatoes that were just as cold. I'm not sure why it was so cold if it just came from the kitchen - did they put it in a blast freezer? Portion sizes are small for what you pay for and flavor is lacking - you're paying for the location. On the plus side, the Sangria was very good

Sea bass and shrimp were absolutely cooked to perfection. Delicate fish melted in your mouth, the shrimp was tender and delicious. I would highly recommend you will not be disappointed. Bon Appétit The service was impeccable. Jewis Pacheco and Carlos Runnes redefine customer service. Attention to detail. Please ask for these two gentlemen. Awesome

Anthiny was my waiter he spoke English very well and was very personable. Highly recommend his service. The place was accommodating to allow me to charge my phone. Food was good. Flies came but they brought lime out to deter them. Everything was great. Thank you

Delicious food, classy ambiance a hidden gem. Not as popular as Pate e' Palo but a great option to be quiet. The restaurant has 3 levels, hence, you can select the best area according to your entertainment needs. They serve international cuisine and a great variety of alcohol. Desserts are delicious. Little bit overpriced, but the great view to the alcazar and delicious food, makes it worthy.

I've read some of the negative reviews and I cannot share the same sentiments. My wife and I ate here at we had a great experience. The service was fast, friendly, and very welcoming and professional. The food tasted great! The atmosphere was fantastic with a view looking straught at the historic palace. The only thing I will say is that it is a bit pricey, but what can you expect from a restaurant that is located in the heart of the Colonial zone? For what it's worth, I give it a 5 star rating.

Solid little restaurant overlooking the square. We went for dinner and the square provided a vibrant spectacle of local culture while we were eating. the food was good if not special, the beer was tasty, and we learnt never have red wine in a Caribbean country (the wine was far too hot to drink). The waiter was also very friendly and we muddled through the language barrier in a fun way.

They put cinnamon in a lot of things... The portions are minuscule. My coffee had cinnamon on it and my caramel flan tasted cinnamon, not at all caramel. The pasta dish was very good, the chicken not so much. I do not recommend this restaurant. Too expensive for what it is.

I was pleasantly surprised. Food was very good, service was even better, the ambiance was nice. Big shutout to Jose and Gabriella who were exceptionally pleasant. I will definitely recommend this place and will definitely come back.

I recently visited an establishment where the service provided by the staff was truly remarkable. Their kindness and efficiency seriously made me consider giving it a perfect rating. However, I found myself needing to rethink this due to the prices. I understand that costs might be higher in a historical area, but the 5600 pesos I paid for two mojitos, two glasses of mediocre tequila, and a plate of octopus seemed a bit steep, especially when compared to prices I’ve seen in bistros in North America or England. The area, while historical, didn’t offer many sights or atmospheres that, in my opinion, justified the price. I recognize that managing a business in such a location might involve higher expenses, but I worry that these prices might limit some customers. Mrs. Rita, who runs the place, might have her reasons for setting these prices, but I believe a more moderate pricing strategy could benefit both customers and the longevity of the business, especially in an era where opinions are widely shared on social media. recently visited an establishment where the service provided by the staff was truly remarkable. 👍👍 The venue is very cute, the view on the ocean is spectacular. The staff was super friendly this day. The food was really good and arrived extremely fast. I had Mofongo (So delicious) and Sancocho (very good)! The only pros was the dessert.
