If you're in the colonial zone in Dominican republic, please pass by the phanteon, it's free and a quick in and out where you can learn about the heroes that forged the country. Very well kept and it feels historic when you're inside.

What a beautiful place. Mesmerizing architecture and most importantly full of history. Salome Ureña and her husband, pedro Santana, and many other important figures of the Dominican Republic history rest in this museum. The flame is eternally on and it uses coconut oil. The architecture incorporates french, Arabic, Spanish and local touches. The ceiling painting is beautiful with the day of the judgement on the right side and eternal life on the left side. Flags of the armed forces are also displayed including Dominican Army, DR Navy, national police, and other institutions of order. There still some available spaces for tge future heroes of Dominican Republic The entrance is free of cost. There are some local guides who can provide detailed information about museum and visitors can provide a tip of 5 dollars or less if the prefer. I recommend this place.

Stunning building, looks like an ancient church turned into national monument, not very easy to interpret if you're not Dominican, needs a bit more effort to make it more tourist friendly, maybe with interactive QR codes here and there so it can be easier to navigate, though the feeling of national shrine is there, very solemn space.

Don’t miss the painting at the far end on the ceiling! The Pantheon is a beautiful spot along your tour of La Zona Colonial and definitely worth entering even if you don’t know anything about Dominican war heroes lol

Originally built as a church in the 18th Century, now it's the Pantheon for the heroes of the DR. It was here that I learned this fun fact: The flag of the DR is only national flag on Earth that includes an image of the Holy Bible. Beautiful building; easy stop; allow a half hour or so.

It's a quick walk down history. The shoulders on post will conduct a ceremonial walk and rifle display followed by the national anthem.

This huge gray limestone building is the mausoleum that houses the physical remains of the greatest Dominican heroes. The Pantheon of the Fatherland has an impressive interior in baroque style, a flame that burns 24 hours a day, and a huge chandelier that was a gift from the Spanish dictator Francisco Franco. It is watched over by an honor guard belonging to the battalion of the presidential guard.

Can't understand that good rating. Building is fine and kinda beautiful, but be aware of the scammy, sketchy guides that will try to take as much money as they can from you.

It is a very interesting place but the guide said the tour was free but at the end try to charge a lot of money, pretending it is a collaboration

The former church became a place for paying homage to national heros. The wall decoration panels were gifted from Hitler.
