So desapointing! We had a wonderful experience with this place at their other store (Blue Mall) hence we wanted to try this one @ Zona Colonial. But the "experience" was awful. First they didn't have air conditioner 😥🥴 Then we asked how we can order if they have a menu because it was our first time going there and the response was you have to go over there somewhere in the back like if we were bothering them (2 ppl doing nothing but being stick to their smartphones in a reception. The same ones in the picture I added to this review): WOW! Therefore we picked up our stuff and we left the place they didn't even bother to ask why we were leaving, one of the worst customer service experience ever!!!

One of the best and real experiences in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo. Actually it was so wonderful for the kids and they loved it. If you want to learn about chocolate, how to make it, and taste it this is place. There is a mini factory and a store to buy many different types, shapes, flavors of chocolate. Recommended.

Finishing the trip down Calle Las Damas is the flagship store of Kahkow, a Dominican chocolate company. If your scheduled tour of a cocoa farm was abruptly canceled like mine was, you can still learn and taste chocolate during a Disney-like experience. In a series of rooms, watch ghosts describe the history of chocolate, walk through a cacoa forest, and taste a wide range chocolates. Tickets cost $16 for adults and $9 per person, a steep price even with the high production value. Tours are available in English, Spanish, French, and German. The full experience is wheelchair accessible. The dark spaces and ghosts might frighten or disorient some visitors. If the doors are open, but no one is in the building, the staff is having a prolonged break outside, and you will need to ask them to come back in. Chocolate making and soap making experiences are also available on site.

We love it! It was a great experience that everyone on my family enjoyed! From the youngest to my grandma! A must do if visiting Santo Domingo! The staff was very helpful and professional from setting up the reservation and accommodating us to the full length of the tour! The facilities were very clean and followed all the CDC guidelines regarding COVID, we felt very safe and comfortable throughout the tour!

Yesterday we walked in about 2pm and picked the Chocolate Bar Tour for $8. The receptionist didn’t speak word English and when she asked if we speak Spanish and we said no only English she slowly rolled her eyes on us so we felt unwelcome right away. After that She showed us every second that it bothers her to deal with us…very unprofessional, disappointing and rude!! The tour itself was about 10mins long, we could taste raw cocoa beans, learned a little bit about the process and at the end made our own chocolate bar which was nice. The guy doing the tour speaks English and was nice. Over all it is nice to place to visit and if you speak English I hope you will have better experience than we had!

The KahKow chocolate experience was nice. I like the milk chocolate over the other selections. I came with my nieces, and they treated them with love during the process which I enjoy. I do believe the freezing period for the chocolate should be better. It was communicated we would wait 10-15 minutes and ended up waiting 30 minutes. If we are to wait this long, provide a cup of coffee or something in the mean time while the customer wait.

This was so interesting! The tour was really nice although our tour guide was not as "spirited" as us (could be that it was the end of the day lol). Either way, we had a great time observing and learning. We could take pictures but no videos. We got to create our own chocolate bar which was definitely worth it.

Best hot chocolate I've ever tasted. Great assortment of different chocolates you can buy, and you can have a tour of the premises and chocolate making facilities. Great day. We also came back a second time for another hot chocolate and carrot cake.

There is a reason you probably don't find dominican chocolate in your home country. I bought 3 bars here ranging from 200 to 300 pesos. I eat a lot of artesian chocolate and appreciate the various nuances that can be tasted. I've had better chocolate from 3 dollars bars at trader Joe's in the usa. A tourist trap.

Overall a good, but a slightly silly experience in some ways. The sampling of the beans and the various chocolates they produce was the highlight. I was surprised how much the videos seemed to revere Cristobal Colon. And the information on going from dried beans to actual chocolate bars was too short and perfunctory. Was it worth the price of admission? Yes...but keep expectations in check.

Awesome chocolate factory & shop. Came here in the afternoon for the factory tour ($7) where you get to know the process of making chocolate & then make your own chocolate bar with a choice of dark, milk or white. I can honestly say this was one of the highest quality chocolate bars that I have had the pleasure of eating.

Very nice place to get your chocolate fix and learn about chocolate. They also have canvas that you can buy as souvenirs and different sizes of chocolate bars that you can buy for yourself and your friends. They have the little dine-in area where you can savor your orders. The setting is top notch and the staff is so nice. We always have a good time there.

I didn't do the tour/experience but it was a really cool place to visit and learn about the process of crafting real chocolate.

It's on ok experience. I paid for the more expensive package because I thought I'd make chocolate. I ended up watching a movie and tasting samples of chocolate and cocoa at different stages. You can do this if you have some time to pass. It's just ok otherwise.

We were looking forward to this with my child and her little friend. Once we paid, I could hear the staff gossiping about how we got charged local rate instead of tourists rate; I grew up in the Dominican Republic, I'm considered Dominican. Then when we went it, the indifference of the staff and the rush service makes barely enjoyable. The only enjoyable part is seeing my little girl try something new. Would I do this again????!! NEVER

Extremely impressed with the tour and chocolate making process. Ordered frozen hot chocolate and a cold chocolate coffee from the shop which were both incredible. I highly recommend doing the chocolate workshop where you get to make your own chocolate and toppings. Staff was also extremely friendly.

Quick chocolate making educational experience. Lasted about 15 minutes. They also have a souvenir shop. Very helpful staff.

I stopped here, as a solo traveler, wanting to pay for and take part in all 3 experiences advertised. I was disappointed at the fact that the services are openly offered online, to individuals, yet I was turned away, because I was solo and there were tours incoming. I can understand that they were ahead of me- cool... But I was told to come back in an hr and half, and Ubered back to find the entire place closed for the day. Two stars, because it is a really cool concept, with a nice setup, but the customer service needs improvement.

I feel completely cheated after our “Kahkow Experience”, and am quite curious how it has many good reviews. 20-something dollars for an admittedly adequate video/soundtrack as you travel through four rooms, a raw cocoa bean to taste the pulp in one room, and some small samples in the last room. Then an invitation to buy more in the gift shop. That’s it. Many reviews/descriptions talk about making a small chocolate bar at the end. We were told “ that’s $8 more and you can’t do it today” A Google search of chocolate making, reading or watching the results with my family for ten minutes, and then spending the money to buy Dominican chocolate would have been far more fulfilling than this tour.

KahKow is must do tour in DR Este. My family and I had a great time making chocolate bars. It worth the price! Now we know why chocolate is expensive..🤣

Nice to go once. You pay around 15$ and you learn about the process of making chocolate. You get to make one candy bar and after a few minutes you get to enjoy it. Nice experience.

The best chocolate in the world. My second time visiting and this time I left with a case of assorted chocolates to last me until next time! Vegan chocolate too! Literally the best Vegan Milk Chocolate ever!

My husband and I wanted to take two different classes. He took the chocolate making tour and I the soap making class. We've taken a chocolate tour in Peru previously and he said this one was basic and simple in comparison, not very informational. When making the bar you also get whatever chocolate is ready, you do not get to choose. The soap making class was also short and ended with a half size bar of soap to take home. All in all, not a bad way to spend half an hour and $8 usd each in Santo Domingo.

Absolutely fantastic chocolate and other cacao based products. Truly world class! As for the museum/experience however it was not quite as stellar. The "make-your-own-chocolate-tour" was far to short and rushed. A more comprehensive tour of the manufacturing and more time to experiment would have been great, even if it came with additional costs.

Súper delicious chocolate. Very nice experience making chocolate and learning of the history in Santo Domingo. The offer tours and experience and also have a little cafe to try different chocolate items. Fun experience.

Amazing chocolate and great staff. The tour is a great addition to your experience.

*Do not* waste your time or money. The "tour" is a 5 min talk of display machinery, there is no factory. They then give you a 3oz cup of melted chocolate, allow you to pour it into a bar shaped mould, and sprinkle a small variety of add-ons.

One of the worst "Experiences" ever. To begin with, when we went there to book for the next day (we were already in Zona Colonial so we thought might as well pass by and book) the staff were very unwelcoming and passive. It seemed like they didn't even want to work. The employee who wrote our names down was laid back and didn't even sit up straight. The actual experience was horrendous. The staff literally talked for like 5 minutes then told us to choose the topping of our chocolate and this is what they call "Kahkow Experience". After that, they show you their shop for you to buy their overpriced chocolate. At the end, they give you the chocolate that you "made" wrapped in plastic with no box or any kind of packaging, only to melt later on. The whole experience took no more than 10 mins and it's definitely not worth the money or even the time.
