The white marble mausoleum where the remains of the three founding fathers of the Dominican Republic rest: Juan Pablo Duarte, Francisco del Rosario Sánchez and Ramón Matías Mella. It is located in the Parque Independencia in front of the Puerta del Conde where the Dominican independence was proclaimed on February 27, 1844.

(Translated by Google) I am Spanish and I travel once a year to Santo Domingo and the DR, whenever I go the first thing I do the day I arrive, and the last thing I do the day I leave, is to visit the Altar of the Fatherland, as a way of To pay my respects to this country, to its people and to those who fought and gave their life and blood to achieve a free and independent country. It is a pity that the current leaders and politicians of the country do not live up to these fathers and fathers of the country, nor share the ideals for which they fought, ideals that they forgot and changed for their own enrichment and not for making prosperous and great to your country.
