Easy to walk past. It's a shop with a very concise and interesting display on the first floor in Spanish and English. Larimar is only found in the Dominican Republic so well worth visiting. It's free.

Friendly staff but they didn't know the basic characteristics of high grade larimar. Given this was a musuem I expected high end quality peices. Instead most stones had imperfections. Larimar seems over priced all over the colonial zone but this place was among the highest. All other places were open to negotiation. I forgot the name but there is a place in the colonial zone that cuts shapes and polishes thier own stones. I'd go there if your serious about spending money.

Free and air-conditioned, dodge the heat outside and be at ease to enjoy the native blue stones and their geological history and chemical makeup in this well put-together display. History of use, mining, and many beautiful specimens to be seen, along with descriptions and examples of how it is made in to jewelery.

This is a quaint privately owned museum and store dedicated to a gemstone unique to DR. Larimar's discovery is relatively recent but is a big deal to Dominicans along with amber. It is beautiful and not crazy expensive. Under USD$100 will get you a small piece...a few hundred will get you a serious piece of jewelry and over $500 for extraordinary pieces. It's special without being formal wear jewelry. The first floor is a store and Mrs. Puello who attended us was very knowledgeable and kind. Not aggressive at all like other stores we have visited for Larimar. She spent a full hour and we were very happy with our purchase, which comes with a certificate of authenticity. I had done reading about the stone prior to going and tested her and she really knew her stuff. The museum upstairs is bilingual. Nice way to spend 10-20 minutes in la Zona. It's educational so it's fun if you are into geology, gemstones and science. If you get tired of seeing the churches in la Zona and you have eaten, these little museums are a nice way to spend time. This one has bathrooms for the public also. It's very close to the cacao museum as well.

This museum allows you to understand everything about the LARIMAR stone. You can find panels in spanish/english and french. I've learn so much about LARIMAR and could not resist to buy earrings. This is the most beautiful blue I have ever seen. This stone is so beautiful. For thos interested in the healing properties of the stones, The Larimar is the most peaceful stone. It will bring you clarity and peace by stimulating and facilitating inner wisdom.
