Very modest hostal with family ambient. Staff provides good service. Hotel is clean. Breakfast in am. Awesome terrace on the top for a good drink and cigar under the stars. Good stay for the price (it’s charged per person per night 😉)

We have been staying here for a while and what initially seemed like a good deal actually turned out to be a bit of a nightmare. The check in process was not great and we were left standing there when we arrived as the person at reception didn’t know what he was doing it seemed like. Eventually we got checked in. A few days past then one night when we were sleeping at around 3am someone tried to get into our room. They insisted several times pushing the door with force. They unlocked the first lock but couldn’t unlock the second as it was an internal latch but who knows what they would’ve done if they could’ve. My fiancé went to the door as it went on for a few minutes and to her surprise there was a group of men including one of the staff looking back at her. No apology or explanation and it was as if they found it funny to terrorise guests. Then again another night another attempt to enter our room happened this time we were met with loud knocking, but we ignored. The next morning we went to tell the owner as the guy who works at night is different and she had the audacity to say it was the cleaners. We said why are the cleaners trying to enter our room by force at 3am?? She obviously has no idea what is going on and this is even more concerning. If you want to be safe think twice about staying here.

Very nice facility, very clean and excellent customer service and the food is unbelievable healthy and delicious. The best of this small hotel is the view from the balcony on the top of the last floor. I highly recommend this small hotel.

The only place I really stay at in the capital. Rooms are always clean and neat, and rates are especially affordable for groups. The staff is always accommodating and they make a good breakfast that's included.

Everything you may need with a budget, within walking distance to the Malecon. Fresh hot breakfast every mooring. Wifi included.

Stayed in the hotel for a week. I highly recommend it. It is located in a quiet part of Gazcue, Santo Domingo, even though Avenue Independencia is a bigger street. The hotel stretches to the back of the property. It's got a great view on the 5th floor / inland and towards the ocean. The owners are very quiet and respectful people - really looking after me at the time. The "eating area" is a very pleasant one - it is on the ground floor - open - so wind and light can come in. Staff was very helpful / assisting when something was needed. Breakfast was simple but good. Can't say anything towards the price because I was invited.

It is a nice to place stay at, in the morning customers have a free breakfast. You can have a single room or a share room if you want. There is a limit with parking, there is only three parking spaces available. This place is good for tourist and people that want to stay near to the colonial zone and who are not driving.

The Bella is a staple for volunteer organizations in Santo Domingo. However, for a visitor like me, it's the perfect balance of affordability and comfort. The first night I was there by myself I had a clean room with a single bed and private bathroom for 1400 Pesos. Like most places, if the hostel staff like you, they'll treat you better, so BE NICE! If not, pay full price and get good service, but not necessarily great service. Either way the location is great and I always felt safe. Great views from the top floor patios and public areas. Definitely a must stay!

nice hostel-style and reasonable price. NOT accessible for wheelchairs and would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. There is a shared kitchenette available to use and a large sitting area however not air-conditioned.

Great price and location. Particularly well suited for groups. Ask for a room on one of the top floors for a fantastic ocean view. Staff is great and the free breakfast is a nice perk.

We love Bella Época! I always stay here with my partner when we are in Santo Domingo. We recently went with our 2.5 year old daughter. The owner is so helpful and friendly along with the staff. The included breakfast is always simple and delicious. The rooms are comfortable with great working AC and hot water and always very clean. The terrace, comfortable common areas, and balcony views are an added bonus!

Must say that I left my documents with some cash in the room. I called and wrote via booking and they were very reliable. I was so far away when I noticed my mistake. but they were absolutely careful with my stuff. Something that you do not see very often these days. I got back personally my stuff in perfect condition. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Thanks so much!!

I have been coming here since 2016. The rooms are clean, the staff is so nice, and the free morning breakfast is delicious. The location is great - easy access to the colonial zone and the beach. Would recommend to anyone looking for an affordable place to stay in the Santo Domingo!

Brilliant, the patio on the 5th floor has sun throughout the day as it faces the sea, wine on the terrace after a full day work is a pleasure, from this terrace you will hear Caribean music from across on the malecon through the weekend, stayed here 40 days and the lift worked for 2 days only but still worth it. Decent price too

Amazing customer service. Clean rooms. Very affordable with a provided breakfast. In the center of everything Santo Domingo. And a stunning view of the ocean and city on the terrace. Highly recommend.
