When
it
comes
to
coffee,
the
Dominican
Republic
is
known
for
producing
some
of
the
best
in
the
world.
So
when
I
heard
about
Flor
de
Cafe,
a
coffee
shop
and
roastery
in
Santo
Domingo,
I
knew
I
had
to
check
it
out.
And
let
me
tell
you,
I
was
not
disappointed.
From
the
moment
I
walked
in,
I
could
tell
that
this
was
a
place
that
took
coffee
seriously.
The
smell
of
freshly
roasted
beans
filled
the
air,
and
the
sound
of
baristas
grinding
and
brewing
coffee
was
music
to
my
ears.
The
decor
is
simple
and
unassuming,
with
wooden
tables
and
chairs
that
invite
you
to
sit
and
stay
a
while.
But
of
course,
the
real
star
of
the
show
here
is
the
coffee
itself.
Flor
de
Cafe
sources
their
beans
from
local
farmers,
and
roasts
them
on-site
to
ensure
maximum
freshness
and
flavor.
I
tried
their
espresso,
and
it
was
a
revelation.
The
crema
was
thick
and
creamy,
and
the
flavor
was
bold
and
complex
with
notes
of
chocolate
and
caramel.
It
was
the
perfect
pick-me-up
on
a
lazy
afternoon.
But
what
really
impressed
me
about
Flor
de
Cafe
was
the
education
they
provided
about
the
coffee.
The
baristas
were
happy
to
talk
to
me
about
the
different
varieties
of
beans,
and
explain
the
different
brewing
methods
and
what
flavors
they
bring
out.
I
learned
so
much
about
coffee
in
just
one
visit,
and
it
made
me
appreciate
the
artistry
and
science
that
goes
into
a
good
cup
of
coffee.
In
addition
to
their
coffee,
Flor
de
Cafe
also
offers
a
small
selection
of
pastries
and
baked
goods.
I
tried
their
croissant,
and
it
was
flaky
and
buttery
with
just
the
right
amount
of
sweetness.
It
was
the
perfect
complement
to
the
rich,
complex
flavors
of
the
espresso.
Overall,
I
can't
recommend
Flor
de
Cafe
enough.
If
you're
a
coffee
lover,
or
just
looking
for
a
cozy
spot
to
relax
and
enjoy
a
delicious
cup
of
joe,
this
is
the
place
to
be.
With
their
commitment
to
quality
and
education,
Flor
de
Cafe
is
helping
to
elevate
the
coffee
culture
in
the
Dominican
Republic
one
cup
at
a
time.
