(Translated by Google) Simply spectacular, it portrays very well the events that occurred at that time. And that representation of the interior is something that definitely has to be experienced Excellent tour and knowledge by the guides (Original) Simplemente espectacular, retrata muy bien los eventos ocurridos en esa Ă©poca. A small museum but very well laid out and it has some amazing artifacts. Going slow, watching the 12 min movie (high production quality), and reading all the sinage will only take you 60 minutes. With that said, it is very informative and worth the time if you are in the Colonial Zone.

World class experience... this museum showcases artifacts recovered from shipwrecks around the country. Through their multimedia and well informed guides, they teach visitors about the experience on a variety of these boats. You can learn more by clicking on the interactive screens and there is support in multiple languages. I loved how I could smell, hear, and feel as if I was on one of those ships. There are different prices for if you are a foreigner, resident, or citizen. Worth it even at the highest price point of 400 pesos. My guide, Javier, was fantastic and could tell you the story behind individual artifacts too.

(Translated by Google) An indescribable experience. The attention and disposition of the staff, the impeccability of its museography, the variety, quantity and quality of its items on display, in short, I doubt that someone after visiting it will find any but. I have been to the naval museum in Madrid and I assure you that this one, despite being smaller, has absolutely nothing to envy to that one. (Original) Una experiencia indescriptible.

Housed in an historical building by one of the city’s gates, this history of shipwrecks starts with Columbus. Lovely building, full of interesting information. English speaking guides and exhibits all in very clear English. Stories of hardship and endurance. Excellent mock up of gun deck. Low entry fee.

The Museum of Atarazanas Reales reponed today. The colonial building was restored and the museum was 100% modernized. It is a must see, MITUR rose the bar to another level. There is a full scale replica of two batteries of an actual colonial ship with sounds of the sea and the smell of wood of that time. There is also a short film (less than 10 min) telling the true story if a shipwreck near Samaná film in the actual site with Dominican and Spaniard actors. The most valuable objects rescued undersea from this shipwreck are on displayed. Lots on interactive displays. Highly recommended!

It's nice but some of the experiences they offer don't work. Specifically, the spots where you can smell different aromas.

This museum was perfect. The guide was able to explain so many fascinating stories about the artifacts, and there was information on so much DR history. The film was amazing, the mock ship was beautiful, and there were even interactive sections where we got to smell the goods carried on ships. The museum flowed well, beginning with Taino pottery and ending with current scuba equipment that is used for these underwater excavations today. I would recommend visiting even just for a little bit, as my visit to Santo Domingo would not have been complete without this stop.

This museum is wonderful exhibit showing the dense history of shipwrecks within Hispaniola. The variety of language options placed within the halls welcome guest from a wide range of nationalities. In addition to the dense and interesting history and artifacts on display, the museum is extremely interactive, and It captivated me for the entirety of my visit.
