DON'T SLEEP on this restaurant. If u want to eat in relative piece, have great food (we had cazuela de maricos) and service from the kindest owner, then dine in here. If u need fanfare and you cannot be patient, then this is not the place for you.

Excellent Spanish restaurant with an owner who’s incredibly proud and passionate of his craft. Shrimp, octopus, bean stew and fish empanadas were all delicious

I've probably walked past this place a few dozen times, without realizing it was there. Based on positive reviews, I had dinner at el Chigre and found the food to be fresh, well prepared, and of superb quality. Try the octopus: tender, flavorful, without question the best I've had in the DR. My girlfriend had the Dorado which was also excellent. The owner takes great pride in the food he serves. He is right to do so. Highly recommended.

I had fantastic steak with some mushrooms, and French fries were home made . I definitely recommend the restaurant
