Honestly, I needed a clean toilet stop, so I decided to spend the €2 to get basic admission. It's not very clear which parts are included and which parts are not but if you enter a room, the staff will let you know. For spending €2 basic, I've got the use a clean toilet, take a loot at the auditorium and somehow and mysteriously found my way to the roof. Surely someone will point it out, otherwise: walk on the right side past the cafe in the big room, follow the hallway that points emergency exits. After 2 corners you find a lonely elevator where only 1 person is allowed to use. Take it to the 5th floor and walk outside. Voilà. Its a great view from up here and I was only joined by 4 other people while being up here. Again, I'm more than happy to spend 2 Euro on a clean toilet and a beautiful view. The rest wasn't really that interesting for me to spend €12 admission.

Yet another must see attraction in Barcelona. The museum is massive and full of beautiful art- my friend and I spent almost 5 hours exploring. They offer a 30% discount for students (even non-Spanish students) so remember to bring a student ID with you! Every piece or art is labelled and there are detailed descriptions and historical facts throughout the exhibitions. The exhibitions span various decadws from Medieval and Gothic to Civil War Spain and modern art. The museum also has a cafe just outside which offers amazing sandwiches and refreshments.

Really loved it! Very good prices and tickets last for a month! Amazing galaries and exhibitions! Recommended for the family though young children might become a bit impatient. Took us a few hours to see everything but it was well worth it. Great view from the entrance and a great place to take photos to remember!

Went on a Saturday after 3 pm when it was free. Waited about 1 hour to get in, which I did expect a bit of a wait. There was a very long line to get into the romantic art section of the museum so I never got to see it. This museum was huge!! You could spend quite a bit of time in there. Worth checking out.

Great collection of work. Only viewed the modern art because we were pressed for time. But would recommend at least 2.5 hours to view everything. It’s a bit of a hike up to the museum but it has great views and is in a beautiful building

From outside spectacular! The view around was like from a movie. Girls & boys take a nice clothes, you might take few romantic pictures there! 😉 Inside the museum - I enjoyed it, however I missed the descriptions next to the art works. The application wasn’t working so I couldn’t get to know more about art and artists. It was okay! Could be better. But it was nice to see what Catalan Art has to offer

It was more fun to take photos in front of the water fountain and the waterfall. Breathtaking views of Barcelona. It's a national museum so most all artwork are from painters across Barcelona and Spain. Only one maybe two Dali paintings with many cool works from a few others known artists including Gaudi. Overall took about 2 hours to get through it a a swift pace in the end.

This was the first stop in my planned excursion of Barcelona, Spain. The view overlooking the city from the entrance level of the museum is breathtaking. The museum is housed in a very large facility of very impressive architecture. The front facade cascades down a very wide and long set of stairs to the ground/street level below. More time was needed to fully appreciate this museum, which is also situated adjacent to the campus where the 1992 Olympic Summer Games was held in Barcelona. There are beautiful walkways and green space common areas surrounding the museum.

Absolutely stunning museum!! Waking up to it there was a saxophone player creating an amazing vibe. The views are SPECTACULAR!!! We had so much fun before even getting into the building. Their exhibits were phenomenal, truly appreciated the efforts they put into sharing these amazing art pieces. The inside was a work of art in itself. Don't forget to look up, the ceilings were gorgeous. You'll need 2 days to see the whole thing, or get there early. The tickets also were a 2 day ticket, I wish we knew that before. DEFINITELY will be visiting again!! Get the GA ticket!

Lovely museum, beautiful paintings, sculpture, furniture and photography. Well laid out, clear path to follow. Roof access, restaurant and outdoor cafe. Nice gift shop with an array of options. Was included with city card. In the same area as other museums and sites so well worth the trip from the gothic/Rambles area. Easy subway, outdoor escalators help the hike for sure.

One of Barcelona's best free of charge view points. Come when the sun is going down, go to the upper level and enjoy the view. Every Saturday from 15:00 to 19:30 and every first Sunday of a month the entrance is free. Use this opportunity to save! Displays are interesting! I especially liked the dome on the upper floor. It takes around 2 hours to check the exhibition

One of the best museums I visited in Barcelona. The permanent collection is split in 2 : medieval art and modern art. While I'm not fond of the medieval part, I adored the modern art part of the museum. The works are, for the most, true visual gems. They are also very well lit. The museum itself has a very unique architecture. It has a terrace with a nice view on Barcelona. If you're an art enthusiast, or simply sensitive to culture or history, this is unmissable.

This is a very beautiful building. Barcelona is indeed a beautiful city with so much to explore. Regardless of your interest and location, one can always find something of interest. There's a good transport link with tickets for bus, Metro, tram and trains. Always look at for the metro passes expecially for family, if you intend travelling by public transport.

Fantastic, especially for Romanesque church art and frescoes in particular, but also covers pretty much all western art styles with a good exhibition on art and the civil war as well. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Very nice museum, on two levels - on the ground floor, there’s older art from three different periods and on the first floor, there’s modern art. Our visit was very nice, up until the point when we were literally kicked out by a employee because there were 15 minutes left until closing time. We were waiting for a friend downstairs and she kept raising her tone to get us to move from the hallway. Very rude and definitely casted a shadow on an otherwise pleasant visit.

A must-see beauty in Barcelona! The pieces in the museum are unique and interesting to see. It could be better getting tickets before the arrival. The view from the top is awe-inspiring. Venetian Towers and the columns also offer a fascinating view! ⭐️

A very nice museum to enjoy Catalan art. The location is also breathtaking. They have free visiting hours on Sunday. I really enjoyed my visit on the night of the museum day. It was a very festive atmosphere. One would require at least 2 hours to visit the museum.

This place was much better than what we thought it was going to be. Our plan was to just do early door rush at 10 am and leave by noon, but we ended up staying for several hours. Starting with the amazing outlook of Barcelona outside, this museum packed 5 sections of amazing artwork. If you really want to view everything carefully you probably need 6 hours or so. When we showed up at 10 am there were no people here for a while. Come early!

Loved it. It has different expositions. Some if them are temporary. I had the chance to go to the Roman and to part of the Modern. I recommend to rent the audio-guide so you can learn interesting facts, if you are not an art expert. You'll find murals, paintings, sculptures and other stuff of many eras.

The most interesting museum in the otherwise boring, touristy and godless Barcelona. Along with the Gothic Quarter, this is where you can most touch the Middle Ages and feel comfortable if you feel nostalgic for that time. The museum houses priceless collections of murals, paintings and other works of art preserved over the centuries. Personally, I was most touched by the Romanesque Art and Gothic Art Collections.

Lots to see, definitely worth a visit. Be aware that they do not let bags inside the sections of the museum with exhibits, but there's both a free cubicle and paid locker for storage. The gothic art in the museum is a must-see, for sure. The outside of the building itself is also an artwork. For those less athletically inclined or just plain tired, there are escalators that take you up the stairs.

Many different types of art ranging from Middle Ages to modern day. Museum should consider adding more English descriptions, as currently there are mostly Catalan and Spanish. Besides that, it's worth visiting as you can ask for audioguide.

This is such a wonderful place! There is SO much to see and for all tastes and ages (we stayed almost 4hours!). The reconstructed Roman churches with real painting from over 1000 years ago is just out of this world. So happy this place exists for preservation purpose as well. I work in a contemporary art center and I absolutely loved to see how the curatorial staff included contemporary art in the rooms with the older pieces, very inspiring and smart! The modern art section was neat too I loved how it was organized. However, I found a few people lost about those pieces not understanding why or how they were there, maybe some public outreach to do regarding that, better signaling? But that’s just a detail. Prices are good especially for young people and students. Staff was nice. I’m French and I speak English but there’s wasn’t a lot of French signs which is a shame because there was al lot of French people. Most paintings only had inscriptions in Catalan or Spanish which I know were in Spain but makes it difficult for international visitors.

It was free when I went on Sunday. Unfortunately, it closes at three o'clock in the afternoon. There are four main exhibition halls inside. It introduces the culture of different periods, including paintings, sculptures and other cultural relics. The best way to understand a city is to visit its museums. This museum has a nice view on the mountain. If you want visitors to have a better understanding, they also hope to introduce more languages or use English to introduce cultural relics in more detail.

The museum is divided in baroque, modernism and romanticism art, they also have pop up expositions. There is free entry after 5 every Saturday if you book in advance and the the first Sunday of every month also booking in advance. There is a very nice restaurant on the second floor, with a very nice view of Barcelona, where you can get a full course meal for about 28€. 🎨🖼🎭

Currently free after 3pm on Saturdays, expect there to be a line if you opt to go at that time. However, the line moves fast and entrance is unproblematic. The museum has three sections - Roman, Gothic and "modern" (i.e. after the previous two periods). Within the sections, the displays are organised by themes and periods of history and you can expect to see everything from paintings, sculptures, arches, photos and furniture. The building itself (both inside and out) as well as the front that overlooks the grand entrance including columns, fountains, walkways and roads is another spectacle to see. Inside the museum is also a gift shop, a cafe and a restaurant.

The MNAC has a magnificent collection of Romanesque art. it focuses on the works that originally adorned the churches in the Pyrenees and others places in Old Catalonia. You can also visit the rooms with authentic jewels of European paintings belonging to the Gothic Renaissance and Baroque. The visit is extensive , I spent 4 hours with two intervals in the cafeteria. It's worth it! If you enjoy art, you must go to this museum!

Visited on a Saturday in April 2023 and it was a free entrance day, SCORE!! It was a really great collection of art, I definitely got exposed to a number of Spanish artists I was unfamiliar with. The building itself is quite architecturally impressive, and you get some amazing views of the city on the outside. Strongly suggest going to the nearby Miro museum and doing this one in the same day.

Amazing construction in a wonderful and green landscape from the top of the hill, view is also amazing. Of course, it is not a very old construction since it was built in 1929 for the international exhibition. To get to the top you need a lot of steps, but here I was impressed, as it has on the right side as you can see, escalators that save you a lot of climbing. We visited it on a Saturday evening and it was indeed very crowded, as there was also a celebration where many young people were dancing to Latin rhythms. Besides all that the museum had a very nice christian religion exhibition, I think was the biggest one I have ever seen.

The section on Romanesque art is one of the best I have seen. Medieval and Renaissance are also good. The modern art section left me a bit cold. The art nouveau collection had certainly some very interesting pieces. This is a big museum, be prepared to spend at least a couple or more hours. Beautiful views of the city.

We went in on a Thursday. The walk around the area was already breathtaking. We then decided to check out the interior of the museum and got the €2 entrance which let us into the building and some of its minor exhibits. The best part is we got to go all the way to the mirador which offers a really great view of the city.

Absolutely stunning art and collection. So many eras to see and marvel upon, tourists are respectful and quiet and it's not super crowded so you can explore at your own pace and in peace. There are spots in which you can listen to things through headsets or download the guide prior to sightseeing as well as - braille descriptions - which was the biggest surprise of all. I really liked it here, tickets are also valid for the entire month AND you can enter twice if you want to split the visit into two.

Definitely worth it. The frescoes are unique, and the whole method they took them are just unbelievable, and it gives really unique experience, when you can see interiors of many churches in one museum. Beautiful museum with ancient renaissance paintings (for those who like it), on the upper floor there the modern art part, however it is not what I expected, it’s mostly just with gaudi’s furniture. Go on sundays as it is free! I recommend it to go as it free, but on other days not worth it if you have to pay. What I really appreciated was the architecture of it, very sublime

(Translated by Google) Very well organized museum, with very interesting pieces, but the collection is very large, it is recommended to do it at different times so as not to get tired and enjoy more. The section on Romanesque murals and the room with Picasso's works are well worth a visit. European painting from the 16th to the 18th centuries also has interesting works and, of course, the great Catalan artists of the 19th and 20th centuries. The Puig i Cadafalch building is imposing, but too historicist. It is perfectly noticeable that it was conceived to be a museum and not a palace, since the side walls have no windows.

A bit annoying that the descriptions of most of the art works were only in Spanish and in a language that might have been Catalan or Italian. It wouldn’t have hurt them to translate everything into at the very least English like they do in all first rate museums in Europe. Not impressed also with the Renaissance collection. A provincial museum at best.

The look of the Palau Nacional is already impressive when you see the fountains and the palace at the end of Avenida de la Reina Maria Cristina. Although it was built in the 1920s, the Palau Nacional was inspired by the Spanish Renaissance of the 16th century, with halls full of columns and domes decorated with frescoes, its mission is to preserve and exhibit its collection of Catalan art and stands out for its collection of Romanesque art, considered one of the most complete in the world, but it is also highlighted by the collection of works of modern, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque art, the museum has a collection of more than 250 000 works, in different exhibitions, in addition to presenting exhibitions temporary and itinerant, the museum also carries out other activities related to art, such as research, study, conservation and restoration of works of art. As it is at the top of the Montjuïc hill, the Palau Nacional offers a very beautiful panoramic view and is an excellent place to take great tourist photos. Not a bad museum — just below world-class — but very sizeable and can entertain you for a couple of hours at the very least. I think the Romanesque and Medieval art is the highlight of the museum but there’s a respectable collection of Catalan painting, sculpture, and furniture in this museum too, encompassing some very nice Modernist pieces. Surprisingly, there was a beautiful concert hall inside and a lovely library which was nice to visit as well. There’s a respectable café and toilets. The lift to the balcony to see the view over Barcelona wasn’t working, so there was a bit of stair-climbing involved — the view is similar to the one you can find in front of the museum, so don’t feel you’re missing out too much if you can’t make it up. The curation of the collection could be a little better but recommended if you’re in Barcelona.

One of the best locations in Barcelona. From rooftop views to coffee on the terrace in front every side offers amazing panoramic of Barcelona. The entrance is free on Saturdays after 15:00. Their collection is nice, it could have been curated better in terms of space organization but a very nice experience non the less. Pro tip: if you are not a fan of medieval/ gothic christian art skip to the upper floor and their modern section.

Absolutely huge museum. The modern art is the best section in my opinion. It's free on Saturdays after 3, we booked tickets on the website but when we arrived no one was checking them, so I think they don't bother on the free days. So if you're thinking of going last minute, try turning up at the door. Lots to do around that area if you don't get in

I highly recommend coming and visiting the museum. I'm not even into art but I really enjoyed myself. The whole building and fountains are amazing, also the view from the museum is top. When you visit on Saturday after 3pm you get a free entrance. The art in the museum itself wasn't boring and a few pieces actually interested me.

Very nice museum. I visited on Museum Night (once a year you can enter several Museums for free, at night) and it was a different experience. This place is huge, so you should expect to walk and be on your feet for a while. Of course there's a café inside and you can get some lunch, coffee, water, etc. You can get here by bus or metro rather easily, and you can buy tickets online or directly here. There's also the chance to enter for free on Saturdays from 15:00 on, and the first Sunday each month from 10:00 to 15:00. They have free lockers if you want to leave your coat/backpack while you're inside. The toilets were clean and well stocked.

Beautiful museum with well-preserved romanesque church paintings and Catalan art. You might run into students sketching or classes visiting the galleries. This is a great destination, with accessible entry (outdoor escalators) and air conditioning.

Came for the last hour it was open on Sunday, and I was able to do two of the exhibits (granted, a little rushed). Maybe half of the signage is only in Catalin, so if you are I to art, I would recommend the audio guide. The central area is cool, and a great place to sit down and take a break.

Structure is Such great Museum from inside such a nice But i don’t understand the reason of some arts from Modern concept doesn’t related to the History ( might be from my point of View )

The building it’s self is really nice to look at and would recommend going to see it and the view from it. However I don’t recommend going inside unless you really like art- I’m not a massive art fan so I didn’t enjoy this at all it was too much to take in.

If you're in Barcelona, it's worth visiting the Museu even if you don't enter; the view out over the city and the surrounding architecture are pretty special. Your enjoyment of the exhibits will likely depend on your interest in the particular era/school (Modernist, gothic, etc.)

Meseu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya: A beautiful architectural building. Barcelona is surrounded by stunning buildings and this is just one of them! We never entered the museum as weren’t not a couple that enjoys Museums, but it was hard to deny this craftsmanship. Beautiful grounds, well maintained and a gorgeous settings too. Well worth a visit if you’re in Barcelona. Sadly, all the fountains throughout Barcelona were switched off therefore we couldn’t enjoy their beauty. All in all, a great visit. 💫

We took an unguided tour. There was a place to plug in your headphones to hear an English description of most of the art. The way the frescos were displayed was truly incredible. We only got through about half of the displays. The gift shop inside was wonderful. It's definitely worth putting on your itinerary. Great views from the entrance.

Beautiful building with an impressive collection. My favourite were the roman art and modernism collections. The building itself is a work of art and I really loved the rooftop mirador which was a complete surprise. Beautiful view with very few people around.

This museum is fantastic, and it's not just the exhibits but the building architecture. It is beautiful inside and out and a great place to take pictures. I walked to the museum, which was mostly uphill. There are escalators, so it's not a difficult walk. There is a huge parking lot if you drive. There is a small entrance fee. I had no problem getting in. On my visit, there was a special exhibition, modern art, medival art, romanesque, Gothic, and baroque art. I enjoyed it all. There were works by Tintorreta, Picasso, Dali, Miro, and more. There was an amazing section on Gaudi. A lot of fantastic work, including films, sculpture, paintings, etc. There is a wonderful cafe in the museum, I had lunch there. I spent 5 hours in the museum because it was very interesting to me.

Recommend buying your tickets in advance directly from the museum's website. The museum itself is beautiful. Sort of reminds me of buildings in Washington DC. Plenty of parking as well as easy access for public transportation. You will also find escalators around the area.

If you are looking for something monumental, worth your time and you have at least half a day - visit it. It takes a lot more time because you really have a lot to enjoy... at least run through it, it's fascinating.

Beautiful building but a little disappointing as a museum. Besides the El Grecos and medieval frescos not much of interest. It’s not well organized with multiple entry points. Plus paintings were mounted on low walls. Going to the top of the building was kind of interesting but a little disappointing.
