My
wife
and
I
signed
up
for
Turtle
island,
the
glass
bottomed
boat,
and
parasailing.
We
left
our
resort
around
9:15AM
and
were
there
in
about
15min.
The
whole
excursion
was
over
before
noon
and
cost
almost
3
million
RP.
Turtle
island
had
been
advertised
to
us
as
a
natural
sanctuary
for
sea
turtles,
the
truth
was
quite
the
opposite.
Sea
turtles,
monkeys,
birds,
snakes,
iguanas
and
bats
all
stripped
from
their
natural
habitats
and
caged,
chained
and
made
to
suffer
in
terrible
conditions.
My
wife
cried
at
the
sight
of
it.
Fortunately
after
leaving
we
stopped
at
the
local
turtle
conservation
and
education
centre
for
a
glimpse
of
hope.
The
workers
there
were
wonderful
and
truly
cared
for
the
animals
and
the
work
they
were
doing.
As
for
the
glass
bottomed
boat,
we
had
a
port
about
1’
wide
by
3’
long
in
the
center
of
the
boat
back
from
turtle
island
to
view
the
murky,
lifeless
water
below
while
the
boat
raced
the
waves
at
full
speed.
Figuring
the
parasailing
“adventure”
would
be
the
one
highlight
to
our
day,
we
stuck
around
after
the
disappointment
of
the
first
hour,
only
to
be
taken
back
out
in
another
boat
through
choppy
water
to
get
to
the
boat
providing
the
parasailing.
On
the
way
out,
the
boat
driver
was
going
way
too
fast
over
a
wake
and
nearly
sent
my
wife
and
I
flying
overboard.
On
the
way
back
down
my
elbow
struck
the
side
of
the
boat
resulting
in
an
injury.
Parasailing
itself
was
an
underwhelming
2-3minute
circle
around
a
crowded
bay,
harnessed
in
very
old
and
poor
equipment.
Don’t
let
the
other
reviews
mislead
you,
this
place
is
awful.
