After almost 2 years closed Chef Mudana and his team of Dede and Made are giving the most fantastic cooking lessons in Balinese, Indonesian and Sumatran cuisine! After we were picked up from our villa by the lovely Wayan, we were greeted by the smiles and hospitality of the team in a way only the Balinese know how - all in perfect English too. We spent 2 hours cooking a huge array of Balinese dishes but also learnt about the balance of flavours and key ingredients, many picked from Chef's own garden. The team watched over us carefully as we laughed and joked about our skills, and our garbled Bahasa. The lesson was so fun but the food - oh wow! Every dish was tingling with flavour and through our great tuition - perfectly balanced with lime juice, salt and chilli. For my girlfriend who is not as keen on anything too spicy every dish was adapted for both our pallets. We had so much leftover we will have a feast for dinner too. On our first day in Sanur we ate at Warung Makan SMS. Really loved the food and eventually signed up for the cooking class. We made a 7-course Balinese style ‘rijsttafel’ and really had a blast with: Mudana, Made en Dede who guided us through the menu. Definitely recommended if you want to learn how to cook Balinese.

Had a fantastic time at the cooking class with Chef Mudana, Made & Dede. Everything was well planned & guided (even for cooking greenhorns like my friend & I). Had a lovely meal when we were done - thanks for the experience (& the heaping amounts of chilli we added! For non-spicy food eaters, there's also a less spicy version available.) The chefs were also very friendly, thanks for having us!

Chef Maduna and his team makes the cooking class really great. Humor and very nice cooking and eating. I do recommend to do the package with the fish market. Really interesting to see where the food comes from.

Probably the best meal we had during our two week holiday in Bali and Lombok. Tucked away in Sanur, this warung serves Indonesian food from the different islands. We ordered mainly Balinese dishes and all were superb. The nuances of flavours, smoky, spices, chilli, fresh and umami. Every meal was quality. You can see the staff care about food and service. It was restaurant quality food at Warung prices. Excellent!!!

Excellent food and service. The mie goreng and pork satay were so tasty. The staff were really friendly sitting with us for a chat then the chef came to tease my husband about English football. Highly recommend a visit.

Meduna’s cooking classes are great fun and even though we’ve done lots of cooking classes in other countries it was fabulous to learn about Balinese cooking. He and his team are very professional and the colourful dishes were all incredibly tasty. He gives suggestions of what to use if you can’t find Balinese ingredients. A very worthwhile way to spend a morning and you get to eat your scrumptious freshly made lunch at the end!

Only in Bali for 10 days we were looking for some good Indonesian food. Really felt like we found it at this warung. Service was also 10 out of 10. Definitely worth the 15 minute walk from the beach.

Chef Mudana and his staff are the most friendly and best chefs we experienced in Bali. We had such a good experience during the cooking class and while dining at his restaurant. An absolute must, when staying in Denpasar!

Extremely friendly staff (even above the already high indonesian average). You can see and taste that the kitchen of this warung loves its job. And all that for a very fair price. Definitely recommend this place.

If you are in Sanur - that's the place to go! Dishes are delicious! Staff is very friendly and the prices are more than reasonable. You should try the Dadar Gulung! We have some days left in Sanur and will definitely come back!

This was easily one of the best meals we had in Bali. The Indonesian food was incredible, and the prices very reasonable. Shout out to Made - you were a fantastic waiter! The other staff were also very friendly. This is my top recommendation for a delicious meal in Sanur. We will be back!

This Indonesian food restaurant is not bad about its taste. No MSG is good point. However they give the rice in small portion. They should add a bit more portion of rice. This restaurant doesn not have a big parking area. We better go there by motorbike.

Back for a second visit. Had the best Barbaque pork I've ever had in my long life. The caramelized banana desert was interesting. Sweet and sour Mahi-Mahi was excellent and came with broccoli, tasting fresh from the garden. Our meal included two beers, a juice and a fried tofu starter. Best $20 I've ever spent in Bali.

Wonderful meal at Warung Makan SMS. When he heard we wished we had time to take a class, the chef insisted on sharing his recipes. The food was excellent, the service was warm, speedy and accurate. This may have been the best meal we had in Bali!

We stumbled across this cute Warung one evening on our way home. Mudana and his team were super nice. He's very passionate about food and the restaurant offers a great selection of delicious Indonesian and Balinese dishes and fresh juices. Highly recommended!
