Maybe honesty and actually improving the hostel might help the business rather than deceiving customers with fake reviews. The guy told us to write 10/10 reviews in exchange for a free night stay. I can tell you it’s a place you will never want to return. They have ducks near a pool which looks dirty. The bathroom was so run down, it felt abandoned. The mould on the walls and dirty floor made it quite eerie. Save your souls and avoid it, definitely the worst hostel I’ve ever been to(been to more than 100)

Do NOT stay at this hostel!! My friend and I arrived, everything seemed to be fine and we checked into a private cabin each. But then, when we went out for breakfast one day, and came back 1,5 hours later, our rooms were broken into to. All our things were taken out of our bags, everything was placed differently, and we were missing stuff for around 400 USD. We immediately contacted the staff, but they just rejected everything. Then we spoke to the boss, who told us that it could only be the staff members, because they’re the only ones having access to all of the rooms. We felt so uncomfortable, imagine the staff members stealing from you in your private LOCKED room.. The boss then promised us, that he would give us something that could cover a bit of the stolen stuff, but then he stopped answering us and then he deleted our booking in Hostelworld so we couldn’t even leave a review - before that he also asked us several times not to leave a review because it would destroy his business.. But after all this, we had had enough! So I contacted Hostelworld, so we could write this review to avoid other people coming to their hostel.. We were unfortunately not given anything to cover the stolen amount, actually not even a refund for the stay there.. We’re really disappointed and shocked, and we will definitely NOT RECOMMEND STAYING THERE!!

A really weird stay at this hostel. Before even checking in, the manager said if we leave a 10 star review on Hostelworld that we would get a free stay. Odd given that we hadn’t even stepped inside the building yet. They also had a security guy outside, odd given that we only paid £7 per night. Check in was a mess, we were asked to leave our passports as a deposit for the room key which gave off instant red flags. There was a duck pen with 2 ducks right next to the pool, is that hygienic? Bathrooms were filthy, looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. The place was also completely empty (considering it was Friday) which gave it a really eery feeling. At night I was awoken by the sound of water tapping down on the ceiling. Sounded like the roof was about to cave in it was so loud (video attached). The ceiling was also covered in mould and I wasn’t given a blanket. I hate leaving bad reviews but this experience was terrible and I couldn’t have got out of that place further. Lots of improvements need to be made.

Hands down by far the best hostel I've stayed in Bali! I thought I walked into a boutique hotel instead of a hostel when I arrived. Great facilities, wonderful hospitality and an amazing team. I stayed at the girl's dorm and the bed was extremely comfortable. Good spread of breakfast with choices of local and western. Also a great place to mingle, for meeting other travelers alike at the common area. Location wise is also really good as it is central to many restaurants and shops for souvenirs. Relatively good walking distance to Seminyak beach, about 10 minutes. The owner is very friendly and has taken care of all the guests welfare at all times. This is a hostel I will definitely go back to over and over again when I am back in Bali because it really feels like home. Great job, M Box Seminyak Team!! <3

One of the best hostels / hotels I ever booked. It has a pool, a bar, clean bathroom, clean rooms available. You don't need to wander around the area to find a place to drink. Their bar has happy hour promo for the cocktails, and you can drink with other travellers, if you like. The staff are really friendly with me, knowing I travel alone. There is a free breakfast as well. 5 stars is not enough. Though the room can be hot, because it's a capsule style. Highly recommended!

Probably I won't book it again. Plz read my detailed review before u go to this accommodation . (I'm writing this review after I've been many hostel and guesthouse) Good > 24h free lounge/reception > Good environment for inviting friends > free pool tabel -Bad > LOUD MUSIC DURING WHOLE DAY. If u r a sensitive person, don't come to this hostel. U can hear music of the lounge just on ur bed. (Until dawn) > SO DIRTY. When I came this hostel, there is a dirty things on the sheets of bed. And then my own table too. Maybe they don't clean it. And then the garbages were still in the plastic bag for 5days. > NO FEMAIL ROOM EVEN IF YOU BOOKED A FEMALE ROOM! It's a very big problem. I booked female room but it was mixed room. Even if it's a toilet!!! Sometimes men came out from the female toilet. (I don't know if their staffs) They didn't tell anything so I was surprised!!!! But mixed room was okay for me. But it's definitely all this hostel's faults and big problems for some guests.(they didn't notice it) > NO WIFI IN THE ROOM > NO WELL PREPARING FOR GUESTS. Only one or A few toilet we can rocked the door. Others were broken. Many time there weren't toilet papers. They don't fix it. And then only a few shower booth has shampoo. > NOT ENOUGH EXPLANATION. NOT KIND OR FRIENDLY STAFF. Staffs don't know this hostel well. When I asked them do u have a free water, they just said that no free water so u have to buy water at here or supermarket. But there was a water purifier. And then they didn't tell me about the bathroom. So I couldn't know what's the shampoo or bodywash.... there is no letter. In My opinion, the staffs aren't friendly than other many hostels. > NOT ENOUGH TOWELS. And then Change what they saying. I could change my towel just two times for 4days. First in the morning they said I can change towel at afternoon, but at the afternoon they said that just tmrw morning. And then tmrw morning was my check out day, so they asked me is it ur check out day. Definitely they don't change the towel if I didn't book one more day. Finally, they said that u can change the towel only once every three days. (They have changed what their saying every time) Cuz they don't have extrq towel. But I could see a lot of extra towels in the bathroom. But they don't laundry these. They left the towel unattended for a few days. > NOT GOOD ATMOSPHERE FOR MAKING FRIENDS. It looks very socially. But in the real they hang out just their own friends. And when I say hi to them, they wasn't friendly. (But it's not about everybody, just a few people) > NOT GOOD BREAKFAST. The jam was like a plastic. It's a common opinion in guests. It was my worst breakfast in hostel in my life haha. > STUFFS ARE DIRTY. When I borrow spoon and fork at here, these are too much dirty. So I washed it myself. And I felt very cold in the room. And I told staff, but they said that everybody wants cold only. Eventhough many people in my room coughed during the night.

Had a good stay here! Very friendly staff! The bed was comfortable, clean facilities and they also gave a delicious free dinner every night! I would stay here again for sure! The only things I didn’t like was that the wifi in the room was very poor, barely useable and also the lockers didn’t work so I had to keep an eye on my belongings. But other than that, great stay!

Avoid at all costs. Definitely not a party hostel at all, the whole time we were there we saw maybe 5 people total, very strange atmosphere about the place. The music is terrible and same songs on repeat. The photos on Hostelworld do not represent the place at all, the decor is dark and dingy like a haunted house. We booked a female only corridor but we were put in with multiple men which was frustrating and scary. The free food advertised is just rice and vegetables. Cutlery was dirty. Capsules were dirty, my friends aircon didn’t work at all and neither did any of our safety deposit boxes. The location isn’t good at all to get to bars etc. The hallways have a weird smell of stale alcohol, and my other friend had blood on the wall of her capsule. The pool looked filthy so we didn’t even attempt it. While we were booked in for 3 nights, on the first night we were sat in the common area discussing booking another place to go, when a huge rat scuttled right past us and into the pool area, which just topped the whole thing off really. We were too on edge to go to sleep so ended up all sat in one capsule awake for the whole night while we sorted out other accommodation. Not a place to meet people at all and does not feel safe for young female backpackers.

Do not think this place is what it used to be.The atmosphere and cleanliness was very poor (toilets, beds, overall smell) I did not think this was a party hostel at all and was disappointed. I actually checked out early and went somewhere closer to bars and clubs as there is heavy traffic so to get to the main places with clubs & bars it takes about 30-40 minutes from Mbox. Lots of renovations needing to be done, a good clean, and some people to get the social crowd back would make this place great! Staff were kind but unfortunately was not enough.

I've stayed at many hostels, and so far I have to say this one has been the best so far I've stayed here before COVID and it's still the best hostel I've stayed at. Great atmosphere, good croud, the staff are very very friendly, and the hosts Marco and Taiga are great people to hang around, good parties and good DJ! I stayed in a cabin room and that room is beautiful, definitely recommend this place, and I will definitely be back.

This place was my home in Bali. This is perfect for solo travelers like me. So affordable, yet elegant. I love their capsule bunk dormitory, where you can still enjoy privacy. The bath and toilet are clean. I love their food and their free flowing tea and coffee. The location is within the commercial complex of Seminyak. Whatever you need can be purchased just a short hike away. Booking for a stay is so easy. And, reception staff are so friendly. Highly recommended!

The first experience stay in hostel. The location of hostel easy to getting there because on Seminyak street. If you want stay with party all a night, this hostel worth it. The staff welcome and friendly. I stay in the room with 6 bed No window. The bed is cozy eventhought stay with other traveller with feet smile on the room. Bathroom is privacy and have small swimming pool inside the hostel. Every night is party So little bit noisy. The facility for fun is okay, the hostel have a pool table and mini gym. And the breakfast always change everyday.

Hostel needs a little bit of TLC in the communal areas but otherwise a good place to stay. Despite it being quiet the staff made a good effort to get things going and the free events are fun. The cabin rooms are a nice change to dorms, just beware the fines -_-

Have stayed here for 2 nights in a little box room. The bed is very comfy had a good sleep since ages. The staff is amazingly friendly and will help you with anything you desire. Breakfast very good lot of choice, if it’s eggs, pancakes rice it’s there. Overall I had a really good stay! Thanks M Box people keep it up like this! 🙏🏽🌸

Raya Seminyak, easy to find anything there. However, they must more focus for the cleanliness and light in the room. It’s also difficult if you bring big luggage. The shower room is dirty, 2 from 3 shower room have no shower head and hanger. You cant stay here if you bring car since there’s no parking space for car. The staff was very welcoming and the space was very comfortable. I stayed here 2 nights and the semi-private rooms were better than the dorms in my opinion because it was almost the same price with more space. It’s location was very centred and everything you need is less than 1 min away, such as the supermarket. The place is very vibrant and they create a safe space for everyone to mingle. I liked that the managers were very open to feedback to improve M Box. Also, have free pizza nights every Fridays😉

If you want to live in a box then this is a place for you. I booked a private room & the room has no windows & so small that only 1 person can stand at a time. No privacy in the bathroom cos it's an open glass with no curtain. If 1 is showering or the other has to go out unless you wanna watch them take a shower. Also the water logs in the bathroom. No place for water to flow so it over flows into your room. Please don't go by the pictures you see. You are sure to get disappointed. The location is very good and the staff is very nice. That's the only positive for this place

Definitely a awesome hostel! People are super friendly and they love helping you. The breakfast is amazing very delicious! Bathrooms look so fancy and are very clean. Such a social hostel. As a solo traveller I had the absolute best time. I felt included in everything, the snorkelling trip snd sunset boat I couldn’t recommend more. I loved that the dorms were for only 3 people. If you like partying and making friends go to M box. Shout out to all the staff but especially brandon, idris, tiger and icky who made my time 10/10

Had an amazing stay at this one. Its super cheap for what you get: free breakfast, a pool, a little home gym, pool table, good food in the restaurant, Karaoke, Dancefloor (one of the employeea is a DJ), cheapest cocktails in town, but also quiet and tidy rooms, overall very clean (better than western standards). It has a very nice and generous owner and employees who will bring you into the nightlife. I did not expect this. Will be back soon!

Booked upon reading the positive reviews and I was sorely disappointed. Arrived at 1230am to find out that the single private room I booked was not available due to “system failure” and they were “servicing the room” - I booked this accommodation 1 month prior to my trip. I was offered to stay in a 6 people mixed dorm, where the receptionist said it is “almost same gender dorm” I asked what that meant, and turns out there is 1 guy in the dorm. They said they’ll refund me the price difference in the room I booked. However I was only keen on a private room and money wasn’t the issue. Given that it was NYE period, nothing else was available, I had no choice but to stay in a mixed dorm. Upon entering the dorm, it is small and cramped. Lockers were not working!! We had to place our luggages at the walkway and I slept with my valuables with me in bed. There was no pillow as well and I had to request for one. Next day upon pressuring the team to give me a single room, I finally got it after waiting for 1h as they said they were cleaning it. So it turns out that they were overbooked and not servicing the room as mentioned. Anyway the single room was in very bad condition, room smells like smoke and sweat and there are stains on the pillow and bedsheets. Toilet space is way too cramped with the toilet seat just 3cm away from the sink. Common area wise, thrash were left lying around from guests - pizza boxes, beer cans etc. Pool water also doesn’t look clean. Do not trust the good reviews you see given that it was 2 years back. This hostel is in bad condition and the staff are not able to handle any requests at all. There are definitely better places around the Seminyak area

Loved our time at M Box! Fab location very central, atms and supermarket right next door. The rooms were nice, the bathrooms were really spacious and clean! The decor of the place was really good and had a really cool vibe! Free family dinner every night too where you get to met loads of new people! The staff were all so friendly and very helpful, Big shoutout to Marco and Thea who were so nice and always got everyone involved in the dinner and games :) sad to say goodbye today!!

Honestly it is hard to describe how welcoming the people here are! The food, service and accommodation are all amazing. Always a vibe here with great live music and some wonderful owners who love to get involved (Taiga and Marco).

Cabins overall are fine, there is almost never anyone in reception, breakfast is burned coffe and bread Don’t expect very good attention No internet in the cabins while I was there They don’t care much about people they let someone very very sick in to the general cabins in these hard times, this person needed to be in private room Blame the hotel cause it was impossible to hide how this person was, everybody travelling, very irresponsible..

As a hostel I think this is great value for money it is in a great strategic location walking distance to everything that rooms are niceEarly is very good I just find it a bit confused it has an upper market restaurant at the front But it is more backpackers venue so that terms of many people from going to the restaurant Is so many tourists playing pool With very little cloud song and drunk at the very front of the venue is a little bit of a turn off for the market of backoacker is good I did not stsy there just visited freinds few times

M Box was our first hostel in Bali and we loved it. We stayed 2 nights but would definitely have stayed more if we had more time. The location was central, the rooms were nice, the happy hour cocktails were great, the bathrooms were big and nice and it was also nice having separate male and female bathrooms, and the setup and decor of the place was really cool! The only thing that was off was the nightlife vibe, it seemed like there was a lot of people staying there but everyone went out to other bars and got back either very late or early in the morning. It wasn't really a downside for me but seemed off because the place is so nice and set up well for a party scene. Side note: we arrived on a Friday and got free pizza which was pretty tasty and in the mornings you get free coffee and toast.

Needs improvement...more secure lockers, more comfy beds, more menu items in the cafe, in suit bathroom needs updating and daily cleaning..Power outlets by bed need to be installed...If you are looking for a budget place with great customer service this is a good choice..

This was my first hostel in Bali and I really loved it, stayed here for 2 days and it was really the best place to start my trip with. I opted for a female dorm with 6 beds. The hostel is very organized and the staff is super friendly. I did opt for a Mt.Batur night trek on my first day through a organizer, I was little reluctant whether to trust the travel company as their driver was picking me up at 2AM midnight, I was not sure of the safety. But the hostel watchman made sure he spoke to the driver and checked everything before I boarded the taxi, so that was really helpful of him as he knew I wasn’t very confident of going. It gave me that additional assurance I needed and staff also followed up on my return to the hostel after the trek. I really appreciate the extra step they took to make my stay comfortable. I met many amazing travelers in this hostel, who were able to help me with my whole itinerary. Seminyak as such is a happening place in Bali which is known for its nightlife, parties and drinking pubs. Tip: Tour agency right at the entrance of the hostel/ medical store (I recommend them too, they were wel organized, I went with with for the Mt.Batur Trek).

I stayed here on January 2019 for a week... Love this hostel so much... Very well maintained, modern and clean... The cafeteria also spacious, I met a lot of new friends here... Beautiful hostel, beautiful memories...

Worse hostel I have been two in the last years. The staff is incompetent and unfriendly. I booked a private room. For 290.000IDR there are much better rooms available. The bathrooms are not clean and old. A twin bedroom means that you have one normal bed and one small ground bed to push it out under the normal bed. Absolutely inaceptable. I will never come back and cannot recommend it for anyone.

Great and lovely staff!!! Always helpful. Clean rooms and bathrooms. 6 beds per room, so not too crowded and the beds are actually comfortable. Would be nice if curtains were added. Nice living area. Would totally recommend!

Okay so this place is a little expensive as compared to the other hostels in / around the areas! Sleeping pods are one of the best I have seen in a while Pro Good & cheap foood - around 50k each meal cost Beds and pillow are super comfy Billiards to play is free Cons - Toilets are small but clean Common showers are small

Breakfast is simple (toast and vegetable soups - but gets the job done). The bathrooms are cleaned regularly, but are a bit tattered and could do with renovating. The staff were amazing and very helpful, especially the younger ones. It was simple to do most things because of this. Towels and linen provided. Pool table and TV lounge with wide range of movies - all for free. Fast wifi. Central location and great tourism information! Scooters available for rent at reception.

The pods are very comfortable. However, I cannot fold in my table, so it is somewhat disturbing. It would be nice if the table is easier to fold. Other than that, this hostel has a great service. I paid less than Rp. 100.000 and I got a free breakfast, towel, and blanket. The bathroom, although shared, is very clean. There are a lot of bathrooms, so guests would not have to make a line to shower.
