If you love animals, please don't support this zoo, they let customers pick up the turtles which puts them under a lot stress. When there are clear signs asking you not to, they do not enforce this policy as they leave the turtle pool ungoverned. This is not okay! The other animals seem to be terrified of the handlers. Their cages are small, there is no places for them to hide or sleep. Some cages lack water facilities for the animals. This place needs a total overhaul and their staff need to be better trained with animal handling.

I was lead to believe this was a proper Turtle Conservation. IT IS A Zoo! Animals in barren concrete cages. Adult Turtles in crowded pools and some with light pink tumours growing on thheir faces and fins which I was told the vet is coming tomorrow to remove , which I stupidly believed at the time. I was the only visitor at the time and my guide told me to carefully wade into the pool and feed them handfuls of seaweed which I stupidly did thinking this was ok. Do not visit and encourage these places.

Personally, I don't like caged wild animals. They suppose to be free in the wild. For education reason, I hope they already have appropriate licenses to expose those endangered and protected animal species. Wealthier animals should be a lot improved.

We visited Turtle Island in August 2023. We had taken a boat from Nusa Dua but it can be approached by road also. They have different varieties of turtles of varied ages and also breed them to be released into the sea later. In addition they also house a few birds , iguanas. Tourists visiting the place can take pictures with the turtles and the other animals and also touch the animals. Souviniers and printed photos are also available for purchase.

Unfortunately we had very bad experience. We bought a 'tour' to this place with 'glass bottom' boad and we wish we would not waste money on both. It was quite expensive, you cannot see anything through the glass, when we got to the Tambak Sari, the guide hardly said few things about the turtles, my kids were asking him questions so they could get at least some kind of info from him. He was just telling us how expensive everything is, how they volunteer and don't get money from government and they live off of tips...basicaly constantly asking us for money. When we told him that we paid for this tour the company and we don't have cash for tips he lost interest, said it is ok and we should tell the company hello for him. Except turtles, there were few other animals, kept in big cages, one highlight for kids was when they were able to hold a snake. But honestly, it was not worth the time and money. I would not recommend anyone to go there.

Cages for the animals are far too small. The turtles and other animals are forced to be handled to have their photos taken. They get pulled around and then put back in their cages. It was £45 for me and my friend to get a "glass bottom boat" (I use that term loosely!!) To turtle island and entrance. Absolutely not worth the money, please spend your money at better centres like TCEC.

Tourists trap! The animals are chained and locked in cages. If you love animals don't go to the Tambak Sari Turtle island.

Please do not visit here. Nothing but inhumane living conditions with no respect given towards the animals. Staff pretend they're volunteers and ask for donations.

DO NOT GO. I wish I read the reviews for this place before booking it as part of a snorkeling tour. Saddest place for these poor animals. There was a cockatoo chained up and a distressed parrot, as well as many other sad animals. Was pressured to buy overpriced souvenirs the whole tour. I was eventually coerced to purchase a AU$15 photo holding up a fake turtle with the promise that all proceeds would be going towards animal conservation. I am now not sure all those beautiful turtles in the tank will ever see freedom again. Boycott this place!

DO NOT GO. If I could give ZERO stars I would. This place is an absolute tourist trap!! We were recommended by our tour guide to come here but it is the worst place I've ever been (all comments below confirmed it). Like everyone has said, it is expensive and NOT WORTH IT - DO NOT BE TRICKED. It was very unpleasant, the man giving us the tour was extremely friendly and kept asking us to spend money on this island. We did have some drinks & food on coercion. And then he had the cheek to ask for tips too. What a regretful and unfortunately unforgettable experience :(

Seriously just avoid the place like the plague! It's just an expensive tourist trap and more of a cheap zoo than anything to do with the conservation of turtles. I was so disappointed and upset with what I experienced that I have no photographs to post, I'd rather not remember the place.

It is a tourist scam. First of all it is not an island. Boats collect people and goes around this peninsula. Secondly, animals are chained and locked in cages. Turtles swim in the pool full of their own excrements. This place will only make you sad. If you really love animals, please avoid this place.

DO NOT GO!!! Terrible place where turtles are crammed in a tiny dirty pool. They chain up parrots and a monkey, and lock other animals in cages with no green, branches or anything. It's the most depressing place I've been to. :( I wish I researched it beforehand- and did not support this place.

DO NOT VISIT - This so called government run facility is nothing more than a tourist scam. The turtles are kept in terrible conditions in pools that are far to small. It is over priced and not worth the visit.

PLEASE DO NOT VISIT. The real turtle conservation and education center is on Serangan Island. It is free entry because it is a genuine charity run by volunteers. Go by taxi over toll road to get there. These other places are not run properly for best interest of the turtles.

Not recommended. Animals live in the jail. Tourist guide will push you to see all the things. I think it's one of the attractions in the boat tour. I saw many tourists taking boat to this place .

Terrible conditions. I should've listened to my instincts. 10 large turtles living in a tiny pool, some with abrasions. Animals chained up in cages. None look healthy. Should be closed down. I'm sure they won't be because it's hard to regulate. Basically a sea turtle hatching farm with no actual efforts for conversation. Terrible.

At our hotel we were proposed to swim with turtles and somehow ended up here. A sad place with beautiful emprissonned animals. This should not exist. I'm surprised by the number of people having a good time.

A tiny sad zoo where turtles are kept in small concrete pools, bats, birds and monkeys in cages. If you want to see wild animals, go on a safari or snorkeling to see them in their natural habitat. Zoo’s are so last century.

  • 1/5 Raneem A. 1 year ago on Google
Horrible absolutely not worth the money It was about 200$ for two people they sell the pics too before you see them. It is not an island. The turtle are in a little container and that is it. You can’t even carry any of them. Save your money and don’t do it. It is literally like seeing the turtle in a zoo nothing special

It was sad to see all the beautiful animals captivated in tiny concrete ponds. If you want to see happy turtles, go snorkelling or diving and watch them in their natural habitat.

(Translated by Google) If they take a photo with them, they are told to pay Rp. 150,000 which has been printed. Even though I didn't ask for a photo. The reason is for donating pet food there. When you enter, you have to pay Rp. 10,000. Can't eat animals. If you don't want to pay, you will be sent directly to the jutekin, you will be gently kicked out saying the ship is waiting. (Original) Kalo di foto sama pihak mereka di suruh bayar Rp 150.000 yg udah di cetak. Padahal gak minta di foto. Alasan ny untuk sumbangan makanan binatang di sana. Masuk ny uda bayar Rp 10.000 . I’m even angry at the Westin for recommending this and saying it’s a conservation center for turtles. This is nothing but a small, dirty and cruel zoo where animals are treated the worst way possible. Do not visit this place and do not support them with money!

Sea turtles of all sizes and ages, can feed and touch in small sad pools, release baby ones into ocean for a fee. Other zoo animal attractions (parrots, iguana, feeding fruit bats, holding a python, peacock etc)

I think this places is recommended for short vacation or study tour. because it is very kids friendly. they can do the observation and learn about the animal especially for reptiles and birds. but still they need to be supervised by adult. we can walk around to see the animals. some of them can be touched and fed. there are also many food merchants. since this is mostly outdoor area i'd recommend you to bring umbrella.

AVOID! If you love animals you will leave this place feeling totally depressed. Animals like Owls, mongoose and bats are in small concrete cages with NOTHING in them. The turtles are in small swimming pools again with NOTHING in them. Avoid! this is not a good place to support. I’m really unhappy our hotel recommends this as a thing to do

DO NOT GO. We were encouraged to go to this place by the travel company we booked with. It’s an absolute disgrace and I felt horrific leaving the place. The animals are chained up and the the guy claimed that the turtles were rescued from fishermen and that the government wouldn’t provide any money for microchips before they were sent back to the wild. After now reading reviews this lie has seemed to be circulating for months. About 15-20 turtles in a tiny little pool and more sick dying turtles in small baths. No where from them to rest on land. The place made me sick to my stomach.
