MAI - Museu de Arte Indígena

Tourist attraction Museum

People often mention museum, museu, indigenous,

Parabéns a todos do MAI.

Indigenous Art Museum Incredible place that showcases the diversity of Brazilian indigenous art. I managed to learn a little about their productions and culture. I was walking around the neighborhood, researched interesting attractions nearby and look what I found... Looking at the beautiful pieces created with a refined artistic eye excited me. I was fascinated by the featherwork, ceramics and basketry collections. I believe that just one visit is not enough, as there is a lot of information to digest in a single day, and its rich collection of beautiful national indigenous art is surprising. We have a duty to better understand the original peoples of Brazil, because each exhibition is a charm that holds its riches. Entry paid.

Make sure to visit when in Curtiba. You will learn alot in these small & beautiful galleries. They also have an excellent but small selection of items to purchase afterward.

This is another museum of great importance, it has many relics used by our indigenous people, each of which has a particular history, these people contribute a lot with their knowledge, to become the country we are, today we are a mixture of various ethnicities , but the first inhabitants of this land were the Indians, who with a lot of struggle, managed to survive, while other tribes were decimated

Clean, organized place, rich in references, lots of information about the indigenous cultures of some regions of Brazil. There are two floors, and on the ground floor there is also a small shop to support indigenous art. I recommend the tour.

The museum has a rich collection, although I felt it lacked representation of ethnicities such as the Pataxó from Bahia, for example. The QR codes for information were not working, as the museum website was down.

I visited the museum a few months ago. The exhibits were great (although u couldn't interact with), and generally the experience was ok, until the personnel offered me some indigenous honey or something to try, and I asked them for a spoon (how reasonable)... they started making fan of me in portuguese (as they thought I couldn't understand), saying things like "oh this European pretends to be a king and blah blah blah". CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE!!! If I ask for a spoon, you must find a spoon. However, it worth a visit for sure (just bring your own spoon), and if you choose a guide, make sure to choose Leonardo. He has been the best tour guide (full knowledge, perfect English), in the whole country!!

Very interesting museum... I just found it curious that for an indigenous museum located in Paraná without any reference to gourd/mate.

Incredible place, the guides are the sweetest people in Brazil, answering all questions and making an effort to explain the items in the collection. My favorite museum in Curitiba, I come back whenever I can 💕

The pieces in this museum are impressive. Brazil's identity is made up of indigenous ethnic multiplicity, visiting the museum is essential to strengthen this bond. I highlight the kindness and excellent explanation of Eduarda, who works at the museum.

I would like to thank you for the existence of the museum, say that your collection is incredible and that you leave the visit extremely emotional and impacted. I would also like to say a special thank you to my guide who was impeccable, Eduarda wouldn't be so incredible without you ✨❤️ Thank you for the excellent work team! Set aside some time and take a guided tour, according to people it’s worth it! Note: I managed to park on the street, right in front, I didn't find it difficult to find nearby spaces, I went on a Wednesday
