A nice place to laze around during the day. Many restaurants close by. Not very safe at night

Honestly, I love the place! It saddens me to see so many homeless and the extremely poor, that passes there on an hourly basis ... to see the tour buses carrying all visitors and seeing all the disparity between the who's and the who's not, extremely sad. The mayor of Curitiba can do so much more to help the needy and the gaint Catholic Cathedral Church - just wish more could be done by one and all! We are all God's children.

Despite of being a beautiful place the human activity makes the o place almost unsupportable. People smokes drugs freely, there is no repression from policy many others selling stuff like necklaces, watch smartphones and I almost 100℅ sure there's no legal transaction going on with those sellers.

The square is invade by homeless people because of the pandemic. The church by the square provides free meal for these people, especially dinner hour.

This is right at the heart of historic Curitiba. It should be a pretty square, but the centre of the square can feel intimidating and dangerous. The amount of busses, noise and pollution doesn't help, either.

Nice cathedral outside and inside but there is nothing around the square only lots of homeless people. Not safe to walk at night.

Visited the plaza, but nothing special. Lots of homeless people approached me and became hostile when I didn't understand them. Felt dangerous so be careful when visiting this area. Entered the cathedral, which was like a safe haven, very pretty interior with beautiful relics on display.
