highly recommended! my dad and i stayed for five nights - absolutely lovely staff who were able to provide recommendations and help with getting around the city. it is very close to popular tourist destinations, supermarkets, restaurants, public transportation and taxis. rooms were as presented, small but comfortable.

Our stay at residence mahala was amazing Harun and his family are the most hospitable and friendly people I have ever met, they have huge hearts. Unfortunately we could only stay for one night as we already had a booking in a different hotel prior to reaching sarajevo, otherwise we would have stayed all 4 nights at residence mahala The rooms are nicely made, and very clean. The breakfast was very tasty The view from the living room window is absolutely breathtaking, and is even better at night. The house is about a 3-5 minute walk to the city centre. The WiFi is very fast, but the best part about staying at this place is the family that hosts you. I cannot express it in words how amazing and kind they are. If you go to Sarajevo definitely stay at residence mahala.

Cosy little property with amazing views (but not for people who don't like climbing hills) Liked · The views from the common hall were great. The host's mother is an extremely kind and welcoming lady. The place looks exactly like in the photos. The location, facilities, price, and hosts were all good. Disliked · This is not a fault of the property but our lack of stamina. The walk to the apartment is through a steep, mountain road. It was such a dampener that we skipped dinner on some days just to avoid taking that road. Honestly, I like hiking, so initially, I underestimated the steepness of the road. But deliberate hiking for a few hours is different from walking uphill for daily activities, especially in the July heat and after spending all day exploring the town (therefore, tired). I will not stay here again because I cannot imagine taking the road multiple times each day. However, other aspects of the property are fine.

Perfect location- not even 10 minutes away from Baščaršija. Host were excellent- very friendly and helpful.

We booked room by Booking for 1 night. We texted in advance arriving time. When we came, nobody was there. We couldn’t even get inside. Awful service.

Nice, clean room with a good view over the eastern hills of the city. We especially liked the magical feeling when all the muezzin started chanting before sunrise and after sunset. We also got a free parking space in the narrow garage. Walk down the hill to the city center in a couple of minutes. Friendly staff at the reception, though not accustomed with the technical stuff (we had to pay cash because the woman couldn't handle the machine nor was able to print a bill at the end) In her defence she was apparently just taking care of things while her son, who usually handled business, was not around. Communication with her was difficult due to our lack of Bosnian and her lack of English. What we absolutely didn't like was the smell of cigarettes in the apartment even though clearly advertised as non smoker. We were there with a sick baby and chose the apt because of that. The woman at the reception smoked in her rooms and at the reception and all that smell lingered in the stairway and the common rooms like the tea kitchenette right next to the reception. It was also noticeable in our room though a lot less than in the other areas. The common kitchen can be used to make a tea or coffee, we also used the fridge, but don't expect to prepare meals there, we couldn't find any kind of pots or pans and had to use our camping equipment to cook some pasta. All in all a clean room in a nice neighborhood but the smoke, lack of kitchenware and last-minute search for cash at the checkout prevents me to give them more than 3 stars.
