Had the buffet and a pleasant waitress. Fair variety on buffet of cod, chicken, meatloaf and roast. There was no bread to go with dinner. Fruits not fresh tasting and stayed unfilled during my visit. Broast chicken was too well done from lights. Roast was good with gravy, homemade noodles or mashed potatoes and carrots. Salad bar was pretty good but I was surprised with how many processed items were on it like the fruit and cheese. Meal otherwise was really very heavy. I could not give it 5 stars due to parking and decreased disability features. I am disabled and I was alone. Had to walk some distance to get to front door with cane. There was never any offer of help of any kind, so a disabled person alone needed to be able to walk around the buffet with no devices and a wheelchair could not. They do have shopping upstairs and an elevator to get there. Again space for WC and walker would be difficult. They did not offer their pies for dessert unless you want to buy a piece for $1 off. It was chocolate cake and bread pudding. Not exactly the Amish experience I was expecting and the people seating need to greet their guests friendly and watch where they try to seat those with physical difficulty. Could have been an unforgettable experience for travelers and local alike...but wasn't.

I had the western burger with cheese and it was amazing! The flavors blend into a unique concoction of deliciousness that you don't expect! I highly recommend. I had mine without the bun so maybe mine was more flavorful that way than it would have been with the bun, not sure. Also, I had the vegetable beef soup and it was very good! I will go back for sure!

Hot and Delicious from start to finish! My waitress was attentive and brought me a new drink without me even asking. Love to visit the bakery shop, and the upstairs unique boutique. I ate alone, they sat me by a beautiful fireplace. I recommend eating at the der Dutchman for fabulous service, a Great variety home cooked buffet, and an excellent dining experience.

Love this big Amish restaurant, buffet, bakery, coffee, and gift shop. It's got clean restrooms, and the food here is always very good. There are so many people that come here that the buffet is constantly being refreshed. Prices in May 2023 - $17.49 for lunch buffet and $18.49 for dinner buffet. You can also order just the salad buffet, or off the menu as well. What you need to know... You need to ask for complimentary rolls (which come with buffet and meals,) as well as cranberry sauce and soft serve ice cream, which also comes with the buffet. Stop at the bakery on your way out for fresh pies and baked goods, fudge, and coffees. They sell jars of their apple butter and a whole bunch of jams, pickles, etc. It's a fantastic Amish place that we enjoy every time we pass through town.

Very Inviting, Brightly lit and cheery, well cleaned and kept. Order off the menu or Sample nearly all favorite dishes off the buffet, where the food is rotated frequently with fresh. You will not miss the salad bar, it takes one full section for itself. All the toppings to make a super salad. There is a selection of desserts on the buffet. Would you like some ice cream? vanilla, chocolate or swirl? It is your choice. Ice cream is table served. After you completed your meal, Shop till you drop in their two story shop. Their Bakery is on the lower level. Cakes, pies, cookies and more. You must try their peanut butter cookies!! moist and full of flavor. Wash all the yum yums down with fresh brewed coffee. You may reach the upper level of the shop, by walking the large double stair case or by elevator, where you will find women's clothing, bedding, wall and table dΓ©cor and much much more.

I visited Der Dutchman on my final day of my vacation recently. I wish I would have found it earlier in the trip because I would have gone every day. It is hard to put adequate words to how well done this restaurant/gift shop/ bakery/ venue hall. It is a massive operation but you don't feel like that when you enter. You are made to feel welcome and part of the family. The breakfast buffet was $16.95 and was an excellent value. Everything was fresh and delicious. The cold food was cold, the hot food was hot. The staff is attentive and friendly. I plan on staying at their hotel on the same property as The Carlisle Inn during my next trip to Sarasota. Highly recommend this business πŸ’–

Made a quick visit here while visiting in town. This was always a favorite place in past years to come to for their breakfast buffet, while I didn’t come to dine in I can say in years past it’s a great place to come any time of day. Their bakery is full of just about everything homemade you can think of and there are lots of extra treats you can purchase before you check out! Just come earlier then later in the day or you’ll miss out on some of their favorite selling baked goods.

I have heard about this restaurant for years and we were finally able to try it for a late lunch. It was fantastic! The dining area is very spacious and decorated in a home style traditional way. The server was very nice and advised us on which dishes to order. I had Turkey and my husband had chicken plate. Both were excellent and the portions were huge. The food came right out and it was delicious. The buffet is very large and the prices reasonable. The restaurant is known for it bakery and the peach pie was wonderful. Even the iced tea was tasty. Afterward we browsed the gift shop for presents for the grandkids. It was a delightful experience and we highly recommend this all American great dining experience.

They even had soft pajamas for adults to wear. The parking is free and l saw all ages having fun. I will go again

I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at this restaurant in Sarasota, FL this evening. My wife and I are visiting from Colorado. The location is convenient, there was plenty of parking, I was welcomed upon entering the restaurant, I was seated within 3 minutes, the dining room was clean, my table was clean, my server came to take my order within 2 minutes and was friendly and efficient, the $16.99 dinner buffet was very good and had about anything you could think of and included ice cream and dinner rolls, the free WiFi worked well, and the men's restroom was clean.

We had the buffet. Food was all fresh and hot. Plenty to choose from. If you leave there hungry, there is definitely something wrong with you. Lol. Service was excellent, place was very clean. Would definitely recommend it!

I never give five stars to a buffet restaurant but this is worth the exception. I have very high standards when it comes to food and this restaurant exceeded my preconceived notions. Their broasted chicken is the star of their buffet and well worth that status, it was crispy and moist with lots of flavor. They have shown that they've mastered the skill of doing great buffet items that generally dry out, like their meatloaf and ham were both juicy and bursting with flavor. The buffet usually offers at least a couple of desserts and all of them were great. Looking forward to going back again soon.

Omg one of the absolutely best meals I have ever had in my life. The buffet was beyond amazing and delicious. Best fried chicken I can say I have ever had, the most amazing baked ham, and the banana cream pie was so delicious I couldn’t stop βœ‹. Our server Megan has been there 20 years and I can clearly see why. She was the most pleasant, attentive, informative and friendly waitress I have had in a very long time. She made a great experience even better. I have read many reviews about the chicken being dry and tasteless! I have no idea where they went but the best fried chicken I have ever had. This place was well worth the 2 1/2 hour drive to go there. I will definitely be back.

Did a fantastic job for my daughters wedding. After much research of caterers, I am so glad we picked Der Dutchman. They were reasonable and everyone we worked with did a great job. The dinner included two appetizers, we chose a fruit tray and cheese tray. Tossed salad with 3 salad dressings of your choice. Wheat and white dinner rolls with butter. We upgraded our entrees, they were the Basil Pesto Chicken in Cream Sauce and the Boneless Short Ribs with au jus on the side. They have several sides to pick from, we chose mixed Bohemian vegetables and cheesy potatoes (oh so, so good- originally on the breakfast menu). Also had lemonade, sweet and unsweetened iced tea, as well as coffee. Extras we added were an assortment of large cookies (chocolate chip, monster, and oatmeal raisin). They even did a very personal and creative wedding cake. We heard so many compliments on the food- very delicious and you get a lot for your money. Sarah helped with planning/selections/necessary rentals. The wonderful crew (led by Janice) helped with end of evening pick up and all the required clean up. Basically, they can do it all and did a fantastic job. Thanks again, for everyone involved (please share this review with your wonderful team)πŸ˜€

This was my second visit. Ordered off the menu this time, much better than the buffet I had the first time. We had the blueberry pancakes, and the Dutch Scramble. Both were amazing, and the service is always impeccable!

Really wonderful family sit down w buffet option. Wait service is on top of everything and we came when there was a long line. Seated within 10 minutes. Highly recommended when visiting Sarasota. Don't miss the gift store upstairs or the jams and jellies for sale in the bakery.

Great buffet, with a lot of very fresh food. The salad bar alone is one of the best I've had. I highly recommend it if you're in the area. You'll love the food and the atmosphere
