Minas Gerais, the state, is well known in Brazil by being the area that is explored the nature to export metals to all around the world. This museum kind of celebrates this. Inside, the little store near the cafeteria sells different kind of rocks, the attendant was very attentive to us by explaining and showing a lot of rocks. Check all floors, including the roof, where you can have a great view of the neighborhood. ⚠️ There is no 5 stars because it should repare the memory of the lost souls in the recent tragedies near the city, when a flood of mud with heavy metals destroyed entire neighborhoods and families.

A fabulous museum for minerals. The collection is amazing and is totally free to visit. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The museum is neat and clean. I visited here on Friday and there were less people in the building . The museum consists of 3 floors and top 2 floors are stunning with the exhibits. This is a house for every geologist.

This could of been a 4 star but staff closes the 3rd floor quite early (almost 20 min early). Nice minerals and metals but they need to respect the hours of opening. Disappointing to see that the staff in this museum (Unlike many others) do not respect hours of operations. However, it is free.

Beautiful museum with great content even if you don't know Portuguese. If you visit it, search for the meteorite, it's an awesome experience to touch a rock from outside the earth.

The museum and the interactions are so good, you can touch a Cristal and a meteorite ! The gold mine elevator is awesome, but they say anything about Opala

Most of the exhibition is interactive and quite straightforward. Great opportunity to review your history, geography and chemistry! Highly recommended for kids.

I never new that iron ore extraction and steel production were such a feel-good, family friendly activity. Thankyou Gerdau and CBMM for educating me on this topic.

Took my 4-year old there, and he really enjoyed the activities. I loved the exposition.

I don't like to much, you can't use flash and get photos with your equipment. Big space but not they don't have many attractions.
