The food is delicious. Fish curry sauce has a perfect spice and smell is good. And nice portion. The restaurant is nice and clean . The manager and server are nice.

After a 10 hour drive, we stopped at this restaurant for our dinner. The ambiance at the restaurant and staff was great however food is not good at all. We ordered 2 veggie Thali’s for us and entrees like panner butter masala and Channa masala for our children. Appetizer panner pakora was not good. I was disappointed.

This is a restaurant I have enjoyed before but our most recent visit really cemented this as one of our favorites in the area. We hesitantly brought our 14 month old son with us on a Saturday evening. He's generally well behaved but toddlers are toddlers and you can't always predict their behavior! We told them we were happy to sit anywhere we'd be least disruptive to the other customers. The restaurant staff were so friendly and welcoming. They put us in a booth right in the middle of the restaurant and brought out a high chair for our son. They quickly brought out papadums which he loved. All of the staff were very friendly and engaging with him all the way through our dinner. I think it really helped him focus and feel comfortable in the unfamiliar location. They brought him a mango Lassi not even knowing that mango is his favorite fruit! Needless to say, we felt so relieved that our dinner was so easy going and enjoyable. And not to forget the food, it was fantastic as usual. I have never gotten food from this restaurant that wasn't outstanding! I can't wait to bring him here again as he gets older so that he can experience more of the great food and atmosphere.

I recently ordered from this place, butter chicken with medium spice. The food was horrible I couldn't even finish it. It had a funky smell and taste. The chicken didn't have a chicken-like texture and was cut into weird strips. I honestly had to throw the food away. I feel like it would have made me sick, as others have also noted in the comments happened to them. I don't plan to return and would caution anyone else ordering from here.

I am back again and again. This place rocks. On subsequent visits, House of India continues to amaze me. It is not close to me but it is well worth the drive. Mr. Pankaj’s and Ms. Maria’s management styles make this restaurant blossom. Below are some pictures of their cuisine that I have enjoyed over time. Don’t forget the goat curry - I ate it all before I realized I had not taken a picture of it. Thank you Chef and staff for making our visits memorable.

This is one of the best Indian places in the area, and maybe one of the longest lasting? It's been around since I was a kid. The servers and staff are incredibly kind and very attentive, and absolutely everything on the menu is delicious! We got the tandoori appetizers, and I got the Mattar Paneer, and others got the shrimp curry and korma.. It's all wonderful. Their masala chai with milk is so delicious! And mango lassi.. And the kulfa ice creams! We had such a relaxing night there. Thank you, House of India!

Not sure if they purposely sabotaged my take out order or if they just have a weird recipe for Tikka Masala. Either way I found pointy sharp pieces and hard rock like pieces of I guess material in the meal. I called to asked what they use to make it and the “manager” tells me he doesn’t know and he’s never eaten the Tikka Masala before. Then he offers me another one on the house. Um sir I almost choked and died on the one bite I had why would I want another one?

Service was really good. We love that most here and the food was great – we ordered Lamb biryani and chicken biryani, Portion was good enough. Would love to come back here again.

Great first experience at House of India! Food: For an appetizer we had the vegetable samosas. They came out hot and had excellent flavor. We ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala and the Lamb Biryani for the entrees. The meat used in the Lamb Biryani tasted fresh and was flavorful. The raita that accompanied the biryani was delicious. The Paneer Tikka Masala was perfect! I greatly appreciated them making it not spicy for me. The portion sizes were generous with extra to take home. The garlic naan was warm, fluffy, and perfectly cooked. Service: Extremely attentive, kind, and polite individuals. They made us feel at home. Atmosphere: Comfortable booths and warm decor. I enjoyed the relaxing music that was played low so it wasn’t distracting. The restaurant was clean and attractive. 10/10 would return! A great hidden gem in the Columbia area that would be tried.

The food was very good, portions were good size, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy. The only drawback for us was that we came in for the lunch buffet, and it wasn't available.

The absolute best Indian restaurant in Maryland. However, I’ve lived in three other states and have yet to find anything that compares to House of India. I eat here every time we are in town visiting family. One of my favorite restaurants.

I love this place. The good is so good and the staff is super friendly. I eat here or take out a few times a month. I've tried other places, but House of India is definitely my favorite.

Great lunch special that includes something like 8 items in your lunch, available on weekends too (but they are closed Mondays). No more buffet at House of India. I hate going to an Indian restaurant and having to order just one item and then pay extra for naan. The lunch special had meat (there is a vegetarian option too), two veggies, rice, naan, samosa, papadum and dessert. Quite a lot of food.

This has been my family’s favorite Indian restaurant in Howard County for 10 years. Everything we’ve tried is delicious! Unfortunately, I knocked it down a star because they changed the tikka masala recipe in the last couple of years and it’s just not as good.

No buffet after the pandemic. July 2022 just called & they said no buffet planned. In the past though, this was a great spot to go, especially for their chicken tiki masala which was made with dark meat chicken instead of white meat, excellent choice. However, it's not the biggest place in Columbia and you can find pretty good alternatives and there's even a buffet open near McGaw road.

The House of India's curb side appeal and initial glance isn't a ten, but while we are talking about visual cues the inside is dated, clean and functional; the bathrooms are clean and smell fine. The food is very good, authentic and tastes very fresh. The service was very good, and we accidentally went there near closing time, the staff didn't care at all and were very friendly. Based on these factors and the price I would give a solid A. Will go back soon.

This used to be an excellent restaurant but after 2018, the food turned terrible. I ordered from House of India during the pandemic in 2020 and the food was disgusting. It ended up in trash. I visited this place out of curiosity in September of 2023 and again I was totally disappointed. Everything was bad, the chutney, naan, cocktails and the main course. Everything had an unpleasant flavor and didn’t taste good, not even the dinks. House of India has probably been the worst Indian restaurant in Columbia for the past five years or so. It is very disappointing when I remember what fantastic food they were serving in 2013 when I first discovered this place, and for the next few years.

Always a great experience. It’s changed hands many times over the 15 years I’ve been gong there but they have retained some of the same staff throughout. Different chefs over the years, but still a staple in our family. I have enjoyed it with friends and family alike. Authentic food, great pricing, courteous and attentive staff.

I recently enjoyed a family dinner at the House of India, the best Indian and Nepali restaurant in the Columbia area. It surpassed my expectations. The owner is incredibly cool, and the staff are truly awesome. The authentic flavors and warm hospitality make it a standout dining experience. Highly recommended!

I had not dined at House of India for a long time and decided to have dinner here while I was in the neighborhood last night, a Saturday. Dinner was wonderful -- vegetable samosas (spicy but not too much!), chicken tikka, roti. Wine by the glass did not seem over-priced compared to trend I've been seeing at other places, and it was a generous quantity that lasted through the meal. Restaurant interior is nicely decorated and feels very cozy at the same time, though they look ready to handle a crowd. I'm glad that they have avoided putting up any large TV screens, which can spoil dining out rather than provide a distraction, in my opinion.

Delicious authentic food. Nice choice of drinks, including Indian beer, teas and of course delicious mango lassie.

We ordered food for our party and had a great experience overall. The food was very good and the quantity was enough as advised. Thank you, Thaapa and the House of India team.

Server was very nice. We got more than we could handle so we could take some home! My wife’s favorite was the mild and creamy vegetable kofta, and my favorite was the medium heat palak paneer. My daughter gets the leftovers. Lucky her!

Bland and flavorless. I ordered the chicken vindaloo because I love the spicy hot nature of vindaloo. This vindaloo was as boring as I've ever seen and not even remotely spicy. How can you call it vindaloo if it isn't spicy?

The food was so so, however, I came to the restaurant because I had a Groupon. When I mentioned this to my server he stated they were no longer accepting Groupon's. All I can say is what a SCAM. I will not be going back to this restaurant. Groupon told me the merchant would have to honor the Groupon

Their food is absolutely delicious and customer service is great too. Went there for the first time during winter for a date night. Our food took extremely long and we had reservations for a comedy show after dinner. We let the waiter know. He was apologetic and comped our food for the inconvenience. I really appreciated the gesture and I have had nothing but great food and friendly service there since. I absolutely love their flavors! If you haven’t tried this restaurant, you definitely should! A+
