Although I typically do not right bad reviews, I genuinely thought this one was necessary. My family has made the effort to go to Charlie’s for the past 3 years as our big group outing. A couple days ago I ordered the tuna steak and ordered it medium rare (as I always do). My Aunt at our other table asked the waiter how the chef prefers to prepare the tuna and was given the response, “medium rare,” which is extremely ironic knowing now the response we received later on. As I began to eat my meal, I noticed my mouth becoming numb? I was extremely thrown off and decided not to finish my tuna. As soon as I got home I realized what was happening and began to feel extremely ill. Little did I know at the time, the exact same thing was happening to my Aunt. The next day my mother decided to give a call just to let Charlie’s know that bad tuna was being served and the immediate response was, “well you shouldn’t have ordered it raw” as well some other extremely unnecessary comments. They completely shifted the blame on us. I was completely blown away by the lack of responsibility and rudeness. We were not asking for any freebies and were simply wanting the chef to know in order to not serve future guests poisoned fish and have customers suffer the way my Aunt and I did. There simply was no reason to respond to us in that way, a simple “oh my gosh thank you for letting us know, we are so sorry that happened,” would not have been a difficult response. If you wish to have a pleasant experience filled with fresh, non-poisoned fish and a kind staff…I recommend you take your business somewhere else.

Tammy was an amazing waitress. So very personable and helpful! She answered all our questions with an ease and confidence that many servers do not have. Her knowledge of the menu as well as suggestions for wines was extremely helpful! As for the food, so very delicious! The tomato and mozzarella appetizer with a basil pecan pesto was amazing. I'm usually hesitant on pestos as they aren't extremely flavorful, but the chef's mixture was so on point, full of flavor. The escargot was also on point! My friends had the swordfish entree and the monkfish entree. Both were incredible, as was my Redfish. The sauces on each entree wreathed extremely well. The scalloped potatoes and seasoned vegetables were a great pairing for the entrees. Desserts were phenomenal! The berry cobbler was full of various berries, topping a with cream glaze and whipped cream topping it all. The Pave au chocolate was creamy, and delicious, toped with a homemade whipped cream and fresh blueberries. My friend got the flan, and was a little nervous about it as she feels most fans have an alcohol taste, but she was happily surprised, as the flan was creamy, slightly sweet, and a perfect end to our dinner. The coffee paired extremely well with our desserts, being great straight black, and just as good with a bit of cream and sugar. The roast is a blend especially made by The Grind, a local coffee roaster...which we have gone by and checked out earlier in the week (purchasing a pack of coffee there as well). Overall, this was a perfect dinner and evening for my girl friends and my last night on the island.

Let me tell you about Charlie's. Last year a person at the Ocean Oak Resort said the beautiful restaurant was her favorite seafood spot for elegant dining. She was too understated. It is better than expected. A menu that includes delectable selections like grouper cheeks, redfish, flounder, dolphin, salmon accompanied by fresh vegetables and specially prepared other sides and followed by desserts enticing the diner to food heaven. This year, we are going twice!

First time we ate here. It was fantastic. I had trout and my wife had scallops (her favorite). Both were excellent. They were quite busy. I recommend getting reservations. We ate at the bar, but ordered off the regular menu. Great staff!

What a wonderful experience Hilton Head Island's Charlie's L'Etoile Verte is. If you have not enjoyed their lunch, dinner, bar, or wine menu or their Charlie's Market items you need to make a reservation or stop by early one afternoon or evening. Our four person table enjoyed wonderful two amazing appetizers; Escargot a la Bourguigonne and the Charlie's Gathering Charcuterie with crackers, Pate, Smoked Salmon, and Spiced Nuts. Four our entrees we enjoyed the Atlantic Salmon special with Ginger Soy sauce, Blackened Redfish with Roasted Garlic Aioli, and local Swordfish, grilled with Wild Mushroom sauce. We love how Charlie's serves all entrees with uniform sides; house salad, potatoes au gratin, and steamed vegetable medley. All wonderfully prepared, served piping hot, and mouth watering. We enjoyed delicious Presecco as well as cocktails with dinner. We skipped desert since we were full - next visit though. Charlie'e staff is welcoming to new diners as well as regulars. The decor is French country with a bright window filled large dining room, bright window filled bar area (with high toppers) and a great multi-level covered shady patios dining option in the mild weather. Their patios also have heaters so almost three season dining al-Fresco. Bon appetit.

What an incredible dining experience! This is a hidden gem but certainly one worth visiting - if you can get a reservation. They can book out a week in advance! The menu changes daily and you can tell the great care and attention given to making it a wonderful dining experience. We got deserts to go after dinner and the chocolate mousse was the best I’ve ever had.

Phenomenal! Beautiful place. Great location. Delicious food. Stacy, our server, was very attentive and helpful. Patrick came by to check on us. We shared five appetizers and a dessert. And brought our own wine. Would highly recommend!

To begin, let me say first that I like to eat and I like really good food. I also like to dine in an atmosphere where I can enjoy a conversation with my dining partners without having to scream at them across the table. If you don't enjoy that or like that and it is not your cup of tea then save yourself some time and skip this review. We have visited Charlie's in Hilton Head on numerous occasions when we have been here. Every time has been a delightful experience including the one we just had today. We went to Charlie's and the two of us had an absolutely wonderful time dining out on the porch. We split a meal because we're older and don't eat as much as I used to. For a main course, tonight we had their special fish cakes with an absolutely wonderful bearnaise sauce. They were very very well done and full of lots of different kinds of seafood. They were served with scalloped potatoes and vegetables. As in good restaurants the vegetables were not overcooked. We also had a wonderful salad consisting of mixed spring greens with feta cheese and olives and a wonderful dressing. The bread was crusty and good and served with an unsalted butter. We enjoyed a glass of wine and found the price of wine was much better than a lot of places. It was a generous poor for $8 a glass. We then had coffee and my partner had a latte and then I had an absolutely wonderful chocolate mousse that came topped with wonderful strawberries blueberries and other fruit. It was scrumptious. The whole experience was just wonderful. We live in Florida and there are many places in Florida where you pretty much are eating bar food that is mostly comfort food. So it was nice for us to have this pleasant experience. I would recommend Charlie's to anybody who's visiting Hilton head. It is just outside the entrance to the Shipyard Plantation.

What an amazing experience! The server was extremely attentive, kind, and enjoying serving us. She provided recommendations, and made sure we had everything we needed. The food…. OMG! My spouse and I ordered the sweet and sour shrimps, the Mahi grilled with a mango sauce, and the Swordfish with a Blue Cheese peppercorn creme. We ended our night with a Pavé chocolate dessert. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUSLY GREAT! Definitely recommend this place.

Great service and delicious food. Our server, Latisha, was very attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and readily answered all our questions. I had the salmon and hubby had the filet mignon and we were both licking our plates at the end of the meal 😋. The manager stopped by our table to make sure everything was just right. Great place to celebrate our anniversary ❤️.

Excellent service & food. The scallops were divine. They have excellent fresh fish and the bread pudding should not be passed up!

If you do not care for fish, do NOT eat here! Not kid friendly. Very disappointed in the server's eye rolls and subtle attitude. It would be nice to view the menu prior to your visit, which is not an option because the menus are hand written in chicken scratch.

Hands down, some of the best food I have had in my life! Turns out Monday is half off wine day, which was very nice to enjoy with our delicious meal! The menu is made fresh every day and is constantly changing for decadent new menu items. The service was the best I have had, not only from our waitress but from all staff. The atmosphere is elegant and gives you that fine dining experience. I would highly recommend at least once if you are in the island area, as this is our new favorite place to celebrate!

This is a really cool place. We arrived early and had a moment to sit on the couch inside the lounge and enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail. The lounge atmosphere is phenomenal, relaxing, low lit with a great vibe. Service is lightening fast. The dining room is quiet and tables are spaced out enough that you don’t feel crowded. Our server Michelle was simply a treat. So friendly and an offered pleasant conversation. The GM equaled her abilities and brought a little fun to our table. We enjoyed our meal and must say that the champagne vinaigrette was the most memorable. The duck and mahi were cooked perfectly. The only drawback were that the sides just didn’t match the protein. I thought the dirty risotto was a bit wet and chalky and the broccolini was just there to be green. But, we didn’t go there for vegetables so it was fine. We will definitely return!

The cozy lit garden leads you to see what’s on the other side of all those window panes. The food is PHENOMENAL. The customer service is warm and personal. The wine list is extensive and the cellar is lovely. Prices are in line with the quality of the experience. Get the scallops. Worth a vist!

Excellent! We had reservations based upon friend's suggestion and we are very grateful for the experience. The ambience was one of fine dining without being "stuffy" thanks in part to the greeting upon arrival and the excellent service by Thaddeus. He was very knowledgeable about the differing menu options and kept a fun banter going with us. My snapper with smoked pepper jelly was great as was my better half's blackened red fish. Topping the night off was scrumptious lemon cheese cake with blackberry and strawberry garnish. Pricing was just above $125.00 for the two of us.

In all the years we've been coming to Hilton Head we had never been to Charlie's. It was highly recommended to us so we wanted to try it and we had lunch. It was outstanding and our waitress was fantastic but I've forgotten her name but she shared the whole history of the restaurant and ownership. We were confused with the name as we thought it was going to be a French restaurant, which we are not fans of, however, it is a seafood restaurant and everything including dessert was top notch! Give it a try and enjoy it!
