UPDATED Aug 2023: Went back today after 6 months and it’s sad how this place has changed for the worse. Some of their recipes have been altered and when we went at around noon today on Aug 26, we were greeted by an incredibly unfriendly staff member taking our order. We asked some simple questions and instead of being accommodating, the staff member was rude and didn’t have the patience to try and help us. What used to be our go-to, will no longer be a place we’ll be visiting any longer. Feb 2023: Move over Marugame. A new player is in town, and it’s right next door! I randomly stumbled upon this place and now after coming here nearly 10 times, I can say this is probably one of the most underrated places I’ve ever been to in Waikiki. Each time I come, I try something new, and each time loving it more and more. It is a twisted sense of happiness - I am happy there is no line whenever I come, but at the same time, they deserve lines as long as Marugame. This poke spot is a mom and pop and also appears in the farmers markets on the island. Poke comes down to fish, flavor, and rice. Fish - fresh as ever, never having any stringy bits that often come with poke that isn’t cut as well. Flavor is dynamic with unique options. And the rice (sushi rice) is on point with the perfect texture. My personal favorite is actually their Yuzu handroll. The flavor is mild and not too salty (some folks may want soy sauce), but the subtle flavors allow the yuzu to shine through with the ahi. Oh, so good. Writing this review makes me want to have another handroll! I hope this place picks up with the amount of business they deserve and I’ll definitely be back soon. It’s my new favorite spot in Waikiki.

Yes. Just yes. My boyfriend came here 4 times during our stay and loved each one more than the next. He’d recommend the Macadamia Aburi Salmon or the Hawaiian Munchies poke bowls — both were amazing! Also, you won’t regret adding on the pudding to your meal (I can back that up myself!).

Why wait 3 hours to get Udon when you could have tasty fresh poke NOW?! Service was super friendly and their specials were great. My friend had the macadamia nut, and I had the Hawaiian Munchies! There’s seating out back reserved for customers of Sato, and the portion size was pretty good as well! Overall for a bowl, drink, tax and tip, you’re looking at about $22. A bit steep to have every day, but the quality and friendly service make the cost worthwhile!

This was such a nice surprise and truly I think it now ranks as my #1 FAVORITE poke on the island!!! I only saw it because I got a beer from across the street. It didn’t have too many reviews but had good ratings so I gave it a shot. I got the Hawaiian munchies with the crispy garlic, sweet soy, spicy Mayo…. I have never scraped a poke bowl w chopsticks and I did today. I got half brown rice half salad and I ate. Every. Single. Thing.

What makes this poke place stand out is the unique poke mix variety, quick preparation, freshness & super friendly staff. The combination of fish, toppings and rice was really exceptional. The staff recommended the munchies and another one which we ended up getting. Located in the heart of Waikiki I'd highly recommend this place!

This place has servers fine Korean and Japanese food. We tried the Korean spicy pork and chicken domburi. The spicy pork was really good and tasty. It's a nice little joint. I think the food is good because there was many people coming in and out while we were out dining. Easy parking. The staff was very nice and humble. Do give it a try.

Quality was 5/5 and I’ve had some great poke living in Seattle. That said, the portion sizes and price don’t demonstrate 5/5 value. I did like the service and menu options, but I wish they’d give more food even if it’s a few bucks more. I got the bowl and ended up getting a second meal 30 minutes later.

I got the shoyu tuna bowl, and it was so good! The fish were cut in smaller cubes than I expected. The shoyu marinade seasoned the fish so perfectly. I loved it! Service was quick and friendly. Perfect lunch spot, and they have a couple tables outside. They also have hand rolls here that I definitely want to come back and try. 😋🥰

One of my favorite fast roll/poke places. Their selection is great, even non-fish lovers have plenty of shrimp options! Prices are very reasonable too. I definitely recommend it!

An unassuming spot on a busy street with some GREAT poke. The macadamia seared salmon was recommended and is absolutely delicious, definitely a stand out which is saying something considering how many poke places there are. There are a few chairs outside to sit but might be better to just grab and go.

Delicious, simple and quick. Tasty poke hidden behind the line for the udon shop next door. Decidedly worth a visit. Fish tastes fresh, and employees were friendly. Tried both the salmon and the ahi. Would eat either again.

Although Sato Seafood may not be the most famous poke place in town, it has its own charm. Sampling their four signature bowls - the Macadamia Aburi Salmon, Hawaiian Munchies, Spicy Maui Maui, and Kaisen Chirashi Bowl - we found each to be flavorful and generously topped with fresh fish. The Macadamia Aburi Salmon stood out, its opulent, torched salmon complemented by the subtle, nutty crunch of macadamia. The Hawaiian Munchies and the Spicy Maui Maui bowls were also impressive, winning us over with their harmonious fusion of distinctive textures and flavors. The Kaisen Chirashi Bowl, Sato's spin on the classic Japanese sushi bowl, regrettably, fell short. The fish was finely diced, slightly too much so, which diminished the textural satisfaction we hoped to experience. Notwithstanding this minor flaw, Sato Seafood delivers a good seafood feast that is certainly worth a try. One tip: call in advance for orders as they seemed to prefer phone orders.

Really love this cute poke ran by very friendly and hardworking staffs. The salmon was fresh and the rice was nicely cooked! There weren’t enough places to sit but plenty of seating around of corner!

We had the extremely good fortune of passing by this place on a rainy day when there was no queue a mile long. The Mac nut aburi salmon and the yuzu salmon were both perfect. The salmon was so fresh. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Seriously couldn’t believe our luck today. If you’re looking for super fresh fish, look no further. The Japanese people working this shop are waaaay friendlier than the people working at a nearby competitor in a pink building on the corner. Was looking for a gf option and the yuzu had no shoyu. It was really good.

So yummy and fresh. This is a very low key spot hidden within several big eatery places. We were searching for another place but somehow could not find it so we decided to give this place a try. It was so good!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND the macadamia nut aburi salmon bowl. It was so flavorful! Every bite was perfect. They have a lot of fish in their poke bowls which I love.
