no trash cans, no soap, no hand towels, ac has been broken for a day, mail keys haven’t been distributed, 10 pm curfew for all common areas, we’re not allowed to use printers. still under construction, broken elevator after 3 days, doors are inconsistent, someone had to sleep in a hotel because the keys didn’t work, half of the exits are blocked by construction, phone areas aren’t sound proof, second floor rooms facing the deck have to choose between natural light and having everyone looking into our room as there is no tint, no pool table, parking very limited, no grills, no food nearby, top dryers don’t work, no laundry room or water fountain anyway on the second floor, exposed wires on the ceiling, some rooms have AC remotes and others don’t, TVs don’t work and have no remote, no wifi separate from the school, we live in glorified closets with AC to distract(if it’s working). RISE is a place of unfulfilled promises and unfinished projects where students are bled dry of their money, for things that we will never have the joy of using, and having no place to voice these concerns. -edit: RISE is now offering fines to most students who decide to dorm here. -edit 2: Crazy the only reason this place is above three stars is because people who work here and people who toured here (who were asked to give it a nice review) have boosted the numbers. The people who actually live here would never recommend moving here for smaller rooms than the dorms with double the pricing. The other dorms close to RISE double pricing offer more space with a private bathroom in a single. "compared to nearby apartments" is a logical fallacy, RISE refers to itself as on campus housing.

DO NOT DORM HERE. Terrible Parking, Unfair Treatment, overpriced. Rude staff Upon my arrival, I was informed that parking permits were not done through the building. Despite my persistent inquiries and efforts, I later discovered that some residents managed to obtain permits, which directly contradicted the information provided to me. When I attempted to clarify this inconsistency, I was placed on a waitlist for a parking permit. (I asked for a permit the very first day). After waiting patiently, I was told that a parking spot had become available, and I was next in line to receive it. This dragged on, during which permits were casually handed out to residents who asked way after me. My vehicle was towed twice. When I asked about it, the staff said why didn't I register my vehicle and acted like they were happy and proud that I got towed like it was my fault. This resulted in a whopping $700 expense. I have been unfairly treated. Very rude, dismissive treatment and disregard for my urgent requests. They acted like I was bothering them and that it was a chore to hear my very simple and basic requests. My experience at RISE has been a source of immense stress and financial burden. I genuinely hope that the management takes these concerns seriously and implements necessary changes to ensure a fair and equitable living environment for all residents. If you value your peace of mind and fair treatment, I strongly advise against choosing RISE for your housing needs.

DONT MOVE HERE. Rise is a total scam, the rent is insanely high compared to the rest of the student houses and the rooms are tiny. There are so many problems that make living here a very negative experience. There are constant fire alarms that go off almost daily for 20 minutes, off the extremely loud speakers in every room. They also threaten to fine you if you are caught in the building. Their solution to every issue is just to fine residents, which doesn't fix anything and they just gain money. no trash cans, no soap, no hand towels, ac is either or full blast where the rooms gets to 60 or does not work at all, mail keys haven’t been distributed, 10 pm curfew for all common areas, we’re not allowed to use printers. still under construction, and broken elevators constantly. The pace study area is nice but it's finals week and they are having events there for non-residents that make it way too loud to even study. The also shut down pace for resents which is crazy to me. They are making everyone take all mopeds and bikes off the property so they can do construction while not offering us alternatives after we pay an insanely high fee for the limited parking. They lied about many things on the singing leis as well, no private wifi, no grills, curfew, and a new monthly utility fee. The only positives of this building are the lovely cleaning staff and the kind security guards.

If you're a student at UH - I would recommend! RISE is brand new, comparable in price to other nearby housing, and *IMPORTANT* is so clean. Most places around campus have aged a bit and have issues with roaches. PLUS THERE'S A/C HERE (thank goodness). The location is super convenient, and as a girl, I'm thankful that the gym is only a few minutes away so I don't feel sketched out going at 9pm. Safety, cleanliness, and convenience makes this a great stay. EDIT on price - around $1500/mo is expensive for anyone to live in, but it's unfortunately what's normal in Hawaii. To compare, I had a tiny single unit room that was a 15 minute walk away, and that was $1700/mo when factoring additional costs like wifi, parking, gas, and electricity. Other housing that is walking distance from UH may seem cheaper, but it's not after the additional hidden costs. Plus, you lose out on the community, the amenities, the a/c, the safety + security, and you even take a risk of exposure to mold and roaches. Truthfully, RISE rounds out to be worth it - you can't really understand that unless you have lived elsewhere in HI. (p.s. I really do wish HI housing was more affordable all around, but for what's realistic in this market, RISE pricing makes sense)

To be honest, the building is horrible. No amenities, extremely overpriced, charging an extra 80$ without warning. They can’t keep the lights on anymore, and they’re dim or completely off in common areas. It took the staff three months to get trash cans in the restrooms, and there’s no soap provided or anything to dry your hands. The fire alarm goes off at least three times a week. More random fees for parking and surf board storage. My roommate and I can’t leave our window open, because everyone from the deck can see inside our room. There is no tint, and without the window open it feels like a cell. Half of the dryers in the laundry room will not dry your clothes. I’ve spent so much money trying to get my clothes dry, before realizing that they’re just broken, in a building that is brand new. False advertising with amenities- making the building look much more appealing than it is. The only good thing is the cleaning staff and location. I urge you not to move in.

Grateful grateful grateful … the staff is amazing. Thank you for welcoming our family and working so hard on making improvements. We stress any student/family coming to the island to take pride in where you live - do not be entitled. This is the aloha way to take care of your ohana Update - Between the extra fees and lack of basic necessities in the common areas - for the price we pay. Not great Too many people take advantage of the RISE facility and money is being outed into the PACE program and the cost should be much lower.

this dorm is super nice and modern, which i’m super happy about. compared to the on-campus housing options rise is luxury living. the maintenance team always fixes our issues immediately, there is 24 hour overnight security, management is understanding, building is high tech (we can open doors with our phones, tvs displaying information everywhere, pace has so many amenities like white boards, noise proof study rooms, recording studio) and the cleaning team keeps this place clean.

Very thankful for the staff that keeps up with maintaining this building. Ive gone to visit the school towers (Freshman Towers, Getway, etc) & the cleanliness there compared to here is insane. There is security after hours to ensure that we are ok at all times. Thankful that we are one of the few housings to have AC (especially when living here in Hawaii). Love that we have a study area in the building called Pace where we have access to it at all times.
