😠 After visiting Tinsel 4 times during my two week stay, my last visit has left an extremely poor taste in my mouth. While the food is good, the service is absolutely abhorrent. Every time I’ve visited Tinsel, I’d order the Verbana Lemonade soda. On my last visit, I ordered it and it was very watery... People often mention coffee, nice, good, service, drink, time, vegan, super, Tinsel, Antwerp,

After visiting Tinsel 4 times during my two week stay, my last visit has left an extremely poor taste in my mouth. While the food is good, the service is absolutely abhorrent. Every time I’ve visited Tinsel, I’d order the Verbana Lemonade soda. On my last visit, I ordered it and it was very watery and flat. I took a sip then stirred it around to see if it was an issue of ingredient distribution but no the drink was poorly made. I notified the server that the drink wasn’t made properly (based on 3 anecdotal experiences) and that the drink didn’t taste good. This wasn’t just some complaint about disliking the drink, it was that the drink wasn’t made to the same standard the previous times. I then ordered a hibiscus iced tea as a replacement. When I went to pay, I was given my total including the verbana soda. I then asked the server who handled the interaction to notify the cashier that I sent the drink back after two small sips. Not even 1/3 or half of the drink was finished. Here comes the issue. The cashier then told me that they don’t remove drinks off the check because a patron didn’t like it. I told her I had visited this cafe 4 times in a span of two weeks and the drink wasn’t made the same as the last 3 times. It was a poorly made drink. The way in which this person spoke to me was so demeaning and patronizing. I’m not some run of the mill one time guest, I had come here a few times during my Antwerp trip. The cashier continues to go back and forth with me, always having a rebuttal and saying the drinks are all made consistently the same. Not true as I had witnessed them making drinks with no measurements what’s so ever. They use squeeze bottles and just squeeze liquid. That’s not uniformity or consistency, that’s eyeballing a drink meaning there’s room for error. To go back and forth, with an argumentative approach is just baffling to me and displays an utter disregard for customer service. I will never return nor do I recommend this establishment to anyone. Crazy how one interaction can truly spoil the perception of a place. The negative reviews about poor service aren’t wrong and you’d be wise to follow the advice. Stay away from Tinsel.

We went there for breakfast on a Sunday. Food was excellent (we tried: green eggs, vegan sandwich and pancakes), service was super friendly and not pushy, atmosphere was relaxing at first and lively the more guests arrived.

Suuuuch a nice breakfast-brunch-coffee place in Antwerp. Very nice food that changes from the usual “brunch avocado toast” you get everywhere these days - I had one of their toasties with cashew-chick pea spread and courgettes (with home made bread!!) and my friends had the goats cheese toasties with caramelised pears and walnuts - healthy, original and delicious! And all that in a cosy chilled atmosphere. Make sure you check out the specials as well - we hesitated a lot before ordering 😍

Tried this new coffee shop in our neighbourhood, it was very busy and very overpriced and we had to queue to pay our bill. We ordered a coffee and got weak filter coffee! Great decor and when the weather is good a nice outside area under trees.

We came here on a Sunday morning. It was really busy and people were queuing. I mean this seems to be the place where all the hipsters would love to get their breakfast. Brekkie, coffee, service - absolutely fantastic. Because it's so busy it has am hectic atmosphere. Instead of ordering a second coffee you hurry up and leave for the next one who is waiting. Just to be fair, this place is worth the hype!

The Energy Shot is more than special... I cannot recommend it, pancakes were great! Chai Latte was OK. Nice atmosphere.

Super nice and friendly staffs, their outdoor seating is also chill and cozy. Lots of special drinks, food and pastries to pick. But honestly, the taste doesn’t surprised me

Vegan options for coffee and food - super nice staff. They even have menus in English if you ask up front. The drip (“filter”) coffee is magnificent. Light roast, super flavorful, a bit sweet - no sugar or milk needed at all. 👌👌👌 I had the vegan French toast (“Vegan Wentelteefjes”). Tip: the set up is a bit quirky. You sit down, fill out your own ticket with your order (pencils and pads on the tables) and then hand it to the cashier. They deliver the food to your table (which you indicate on the ticket with a little map).

The best vegan place we've visited in Antwerp. They are not 100% vegan but they have many delicious options that are vegan. Loved it and would definitely come back. Amazing interior as well as super nice staff.

Friendly and quick, helpful service! We loved the presentation of the dishes and the menu was varied and exciting! Perfect and affordable brunch place! The St-Paulus square feels spacious and sunny with plenty of seating. The decor is all concrete, metal and marble so the atmosphere is serene, but the music keeps an uptempo work away from home environment. Will definitely return here!!

Where do I start ❤️ Tinsel, everything about this place is amazing. The service is excellent, everyone working there is happy to help, it’s like meeting your friends. At my first visit, a server recommended I try the pancakes and when it arrived, I almost fainted of how beautiful it looked. It’s like I was in a cartoon, a cloud shaped dough with bananas and amazing creme, topped with fresh blueberries! it’s really out of this world. And their coffee complemented the food 😍 tinsel is definitely worth it I always try to come every weekend ! Love love love - a must visit

Wanted to go here as it looked nice, but when we arrived it was an unorganised queue outside. The girl said it was two parties before us and asked us to wait. We noticed that the tables outside were almost forgotten. People sitting there with no food or waiting to pay for a long time. Several parties left from inside, but no new people got seated. Very odd. All of a sudden a couple arrived from the side, who got a table, prime spot against the wall outside? ? ? We had by then waited very long and we were second in line still. So there is a VIP group who are treated better than others. A lot of minus points. Eventually the girl finally came out and shouted "who is next"? Everyone outside started to say it was them, but hello. Don't you keep track? So now we have to fight who is next in line? What a weird system. The guy before us got a table and we were all of a sudden nervous that it wouldn't be our turn next. When she shouted a second time we made ourselves present and we got a table, finally after a long wait. Waiting is fine, but not knowing if you will get a table is not. Squeezed in between in a tight spot inside. We ordered and I must say I was very disappointed in my avocado toast. One little bread slice with half an avocado with a mountain of water cress for 12,50 EUR??!?!?!?!? It was a kids portion and they must make so much money on this dish. How much is a loaf of bred? Half an avocado? Water cress? Some oil? Haha. We won't come back.

The matcha latte is so good! I had a lovely time at Tinsel, it was raining outside when I came so the inside was quite packed and it could get a bit loud in there but vibes were so good. I came at around 4 pm so all the pastries were sold out, I’m excited to get one next time! Personnel was so nice and friendly as well, I will definitely go back here :)

Can’t recommend this place enough!! Tried their filter coffee which I really enjoyed. And ate a delicious brownie with pecan nuts!! Besides this, the atmosphere and design of the place is very cute. Will definitely be going back 💓

A very cute (instagrammable) coffee shop at first sight. The restaurant has a nice terrace area to enjoy sunny days. However, the wait is terrible, nearly 30 mins for eggs and toasts… Food was okay, but not very tasty and very simple. I had the green eggs and hated it because it had so much fennel seeds (jt wasn’t mentioned on the menu). On another hand, the prices were quite high for what we ate. The staff was lovely though so I don’t want to give free hate to this place. I was just very disappointed as I was starving and expecting tasty food. The matcha latte was good and strong in matcha !

Got the most delicious brunch here on a Saturday morning. We arrived just as the restaurant opened and we were served immediately. The food was hot, perfectly cooked and seasoned well. The portions were also huge! Best brunch that I have had in a long time and the coffee was also quite good 🌟. Only recommendation would be more alternative milk options!

Best brunch in Antwerp! We came early, around 11 and we could have a seat right away. We had toast with avocado and egg and brioche with ricotta and peaches, which were amazing! All of the staff were super kind and service was great. Highly highly highly recommend you eat here when in Antwerp!

Spicy cacao was super tasty. Oats brulee were adapted to be vegan upon request (super sweet, thanks!), and were also super tasty 😋 It's on the pricey side, the portions are rather small for what they cost!

We waited for 30 mins to be seated, the employees were very nice and tried to make the wait as pleasant as possible. We were sat at a table right next to the toilet door with one of the chairs in the passage way - not very comfortable. I ordered the tinsel croque with an egg and paid 11.60 for it. It was two thin slices of bread with a slice of ham and barely any cheese. No salad or sides of any kinds. Very small and waaaay too expensive for what it was. My husband ordered the special eggs, which was cold by the time it was delivered. So all in all very nice girls who work there who try their best, but the wait is not worth the mediocre, overpriced small portions. Very disappointed.

Breakfast turned into lunch with the long waiting time. Even drinks took more than half an hour without any heads up. Waited over an hour for our food. Staff seemed overwhelmed, they didn’t check on us nor were very friendly. The food was good but not worth the hype.

Gosh this place is super cute and has great food and coffee. I need to go back and try their desserts cause they looked sooo good. They have around three to four vegan options which’s great!

Ate the pancakes "double". It was massive but it's not everyday you experience pancake coma so, worth it! Could possibly not drench it in syrup.. meaning the pancake is not for people that don't like sweet, keep that in mind. Latte was good, nothing to criticise. But maybe they could have a more comfy sitting area. My table was a bit shaky and there were no pillows or anything to soften the seat on the stools or bench. overall good!

I cant express how much I love Tinsel. Stellar food, great service. You need to be prepared to queue as its so popular. The portions are huge, and my fave are the pancakes. Its always a hit when I bring visitors to it.

Favourite coffee shop in Antwerp. Super cosy, delicious coffee and homemade iced tea, really friendly staff. And most importantly the absolute best vegan and gluten free banana bread in the city. Can't walk past without grabbing a piece.

Cool place for a brunch or a coffee. The service was top. Open kitchen, so you can watch the food preperations. Loved my lovely eggs

Highly recommended, does not disappoint. So many things on the menu look tempting. The dishes landing on tables nearby might make you regret your choice as you wait, but when your food is delivered it looks more tasty than you imagined. Then tastes as good as it looks. Friendly service, clean space with a modern meets industrial vibe, cute outdoor seating in the plaza as well as inside seating. Open kitchen to watch the food be prepped if you desire. Nice music volume, not too loud. Lots of vegan and gluten free options if that’s your thing.

I found it expensive for what it was. They charge €5 for a bottle of tap water! Also they haven’t heard of how to make a proper cold coffee. Staff was ok, some were a bit rude. The place is well designed. Food is ok, a lot of attention on visuals.

Absolutely delicious breakfast, great coffee (la marzocco & caffenation). Best one I’ve had in a long while. Also very friendly service. Go team Tinsel 👏!

They charge 5 eur for filtered tap water. It is just unacceptable. But food and coffee are good though.

Worst cappuccino in Antwerp. Even worse is that they didn’t acknowledge it and started arguing that they used the right balance milk/coffee. Explains why they can’t make a proper one.

Delicious breakfast and very nice interior with many plants. We were very lucky to just arrive when some other people were leaving though, as it was quite busy and several other people had to be turned away (Sunday morning)

The people were nice but it was busy, tiny place. However, the pulled mushroom croque was absolutely amazing, also the chocolate tahini cake was a dream. I very strongly recommend these. The advocado toast however was nothing special. The golden chai, the green kombucha with ginger en lemon and the spicy cacao were also delicious. Thank you for this delicious meal and serving us.

The staff is always so nice, the music vibes ever smooth and the food never disappointing. The Tinsel Team cares a lot for home made food and local ingredients: fermented goodies, kombucha,… I simply always come here when in Antwerp
