FOMU Antwep is an amazing museum. The staff is lovely and very helpful, the shop is reasonably priced with a lot of interesting photography related items, and there are plenty of lockers for your convenience, and gender-neutral bathrooms. At the time I've been there, there was an exhibit of the famous photographer Stephan Vanfleteren. His body of work was plastered all over the walls for everyone to see and observe not only the changing of the times, but also the evolution and the learning journey of an artist that is not afraid of change. It is there to show you the dark side of humanity, the laughter we all should pose in the face troubles the way the artist did with is series Elvis & Presley, and the futility of life, inevitability of death and their intertwined nature. On a different floor, the Photo Museum of Antwerp has removed the barrier between the art and the observer, letting the latter be in the former. It is one of the best uses of visual media I've ever seen. So simply put, with the advantage of being under the age of 26, best €3 I've ever spent.

Very nice exhibitions (Martine Franck, Lynne Cohen) with sufficient textual guidance. Corona-safety-wise well organized. Could do with a few more arrows on the floor in each room to guide the tour.

After returning home to Paris, she established herself as an independent photographer and made portraits and reports for major American magazines such as Life, The New York Times and Vogue. Exceptional, probably the best museum in the city. The current exhibit curated for Stephen vanfleteren is quite impactful a chronicle of his professional development, but through his eyes and lenses, we get to see the world, unvarnished or sparkled. It was a display well done, for FoMu's venu. And the Cafe is nice with fantastic cake to satisfy the tummy after a visual sensation upstairs.

(Translated by Google) The exhibition of the works of Stephan Vanfleteren was fantastic. Especially because for me as a young person under 26 it was only € 3. Definitely worth the money, as an amateur photographer I fully enjoyed every photo that was present at the FOMU. Finally, a nice photo made in the photo booth in the hall. Definitely worth a visit. The hall itself is very spacious and light, with clear captions for each “theme”. (Original) De tentoonstelling van de werken van Stephan Vanfleteren was gewéldig. (Translated by Google) Stephan Vanfleteren's exhibition was really beautiful. The course followed chronologically from its early years as a photographer until now. I was jealous of the experiences he has all experienced, such as his journey with his friend, both dressed as Elvis, through America. And then the contrast when he traveled through America much more recently and then just started looking for the fringes of society. Also the trips at an earlier stage on behalf of the morning to a war zone were special. The speed with which people then had to record the events on photo contrasts again with the slowness of the still lifes and the still lives that he now photographed very recently. In the portraits, black and white accentuate the features of the face very nicely and turn them into real character heads. Impressive! Indrukwekkend!

The south of Antwerp referred to as 't Zuid,' has several museums, galleries, theatres and other cultural hot spots. In this patrician district, you will discover live music, screenings of classic movies, exhibitions, theatrical masterpieces, and so on. The photo museum I frequently visit, abbreviated 'FOMU,' has a permanent collection and periodically places new exhibits in the spotlight. When the online teasers from the latest acquisitions appeal to me, they will succeed in extruding the last coins out of my pockets. Dirt poor or not, I will buy my entrance ticket, and that's the way the cookie crumbles. I am a late bloomer. A son of two hard working souls who taught me the importance of developing one's awareness. A necessity that will help me to understand the meaning and value of freedom. It took me a while to wake up. So, I constantly try to catch up by educating myself. When I stroll through the museum, I let the latest creative augmentations inspire and teach me. Hence, my biased recommendation for this creative hotspot. I often try to grasp the process of the imaginative minds who conceived the pieces of art being burnt on my retina. I feel a strong urge to liberate myself from society's restraints and avoid becoming a stereotypical sheep. We have been subdued to massive indoctrination. However, ingenious locations like Antwerp's FOMU help you to reciprocate what is in your nature. As society's shackles limit your persona. Enjoy the exhibited creativity and broaden your horizon.

Make sure to arrive on time. We only had one hour inside and couldn’t even finish the masculinity exposition. It was nice and fairly priced, but not mind-blowing. I enjoyed the audio-visual content and the fact that it was so quiet (except for a crying baby). Some descriptions were sadly only in Dutch.

A wonderful, modern museum in a converted warehouse by the River Sheldt with a very good cafe. The displays were expertly curated and mounted and extremely thought-provoking and poignant, e g. Santa Barbara, about a Soviet mother seeking the American dream with her two children.

Only one exhibition was open, they usually have three. Strange not to have the new exhibitions ready to be put up overnight, as we do where I come from, instead of closing the majority of the museum for days and still charge the same admission fee. Although I have noticed that this seems to be the done thing in Belgium, at least in early summer, just to close half or more of places without having the next thing ready and still charge full price.

Lovely museum with interesting expositions. We went to the “The moon” exposition, it was both instructive as it was artful. A video of a women that wanted to teach Moon Geese to learn how to fly to the moon, but also the first piece of art to ever reach the surface of the moon (was made by a Belgian artist).

(Translated by Google) Rude staff. Not letting a heavily pregnant woman in to go to the toilet and tell her to go and urinate in the street is very mean. (Original) Onbeschoft personeel. Een hoogzwangere vrouw niet binnenlaten om even naar toilet te gaan en zeggen dat zij maar op straat moet gaan plassen is zeer gemeen.

As usual, great expositions. Was impressed by the collection that was brought together for masculinities.

The museum has a number of interesting and valuable exhibitions. However I found the museum mostly contained series of photos documenting social themes. It is my personal preference but I would have preferred the selection of photos to be primarily based on their visual / graphical quality.

Only the 2nd floor, with the Expo, is available to visitors. Not a big collection of photographs. 3rd floor closed. 4th floor no visitors... Not really worth the €10. Was expecting see more / a variety of photographs, instead of very limited exhibits.

Really good photo exhibit about photography in the Congo. Enjoyed it a lot, would’ve enjoyed a few more specifics about the images in English

That was the most disappointing museum I have been. I love photography and expected to see beautiful, inspiring works. But in fact, several "exhibitions" included uncomfortable video with many naked people, pictures of strippers, wars, killed children, and random pictures of someone's home. I'm not into modern art and I did not understand this art. Come if you know what you are coming for.

I was not impressed. The exhibit was supposed to be meditative however I found it a disjointed collection of poorly executed photographs and copies of newspaper photos. I failed to find the theme or reasoning for the collection. The museum was fitting out 2 galleries for a new exhibition so maybe this was all they could pull together.

A bit small, but nice. Really nice that they have a photobooth which you can use without buying a ticket for the museum. Although the photobooth is a bit pricey, 3 euros for one strip.
