The Vincent Van Gogh Huis is located at the same spot where formerly Vincent‘s birthplace stood, which was demolished in 1903. As for the content of the exhibition, I personally would not say it was very informative or coherent. You‘re led up the stairs into a room where a few furniture pieces are. The audioguide went from one story and bits and bobs from Vincent‘s letters to Theo (sometimes paraphrased) to other stories. As someone who has read numerous books about Vincent and Theo, I could coordinate the pieces of information, however, my sister who knows nothing more of Vincent than his paintings and the fact that he at some point cut off his ear, was confused and then lost interest because she didn‘t know what to do with the randomised stories told in the audioguide. The second exhibition room contained artwork from an other artists and quotes from other famous people who were inspired by Vincent. And that was the whole exhibition. I‘d suggest the people in the Museum create a new exhibition concept, with a clear line and message. Perhaps they can incorporate Zundert-specific Memories Vincent told. If theres not enough financial means to hire a curator then maybe start a volunteer project to revise the exhibition. I‘m sure there are many motivated people who are passionate about the Van Goghs and would live to create a meaningful experience to the visitors of Zundert.

In a little place called Zundert you will find the roots of Van Gogh. There is a special Van Gogh route. Nearby is the little church of his brother and there is more.

I was a little disappointed. They have no Van Gogh paintings/drawings at all and I didn’t learn anything that I couldn’t find out on the internet for free.

It is a nice place to visit, but especially for the art by other artists. When you are looking for items made by Vincent van Gogh you can better visit other places.

I would not recommend entrance to the museum. The gift shop has some nice books and postcards if you want a souvenir from the place Van Gogh was born. I agree with everything the user Sabo H said in their review…

The entire exposition is a recoded story about Van Gogh. Which can be interesting. However, the place is very small containing not much besides furniture that might belong to Van Goghs family and some art and quotes from other artists.

This is a birth place of Vincent Van Gogh. It's very small museum. I suggest your visit if you are a big fan of Gogh. Otherwise it is not worth.

(Translated by Google) From Verwoeste Stad, The Devastated City, is a bronze sculpture created by the Russian sculptor Ossip Zadskine (1888-1967), to commemorate the horror of the bombings that destroyed the city of Rotterdam during World War II. Born in Vitebsk, Belarus, then belonging to the Russian Empire, of Jewish and Scottish origin, Zadkine is mainly known as a sculptor, although he also made paintings, drawings and graphic works. After attending the London School of Fine Arts, Zadkine settled in Paris around 1910, where he became part of the new Cubist movement (1914-1925). Following this period, he developed an original style, strongly influenced by the primitive arts. The Destroyed City by the prolific sculptor Ossip Zadkine symbolizes the destruction of the heart of the city of Rotterdam. This happened in 1940 when Rotterdam was bombed by the Nazi’s to enforce the capitulation of the Netherlands. It is on Plein 1940 (1940 Square) close to one of the first new buildings erected after the war ended, the Amsterdam bank (now the Kamer van Koophandel).

Small intimate audio histories of Vincent & his family life (audios in Dutch or English). Always have different additional exhibitions by resident artists. This is one of the stops in the Van Gogh Europe route (covering the 16 places in Europe, where Vincent lived/worked during his short life)

The Van Gogh Museum in this small town, which is also the birthplace of Vincent Van Gogh, is an important visiting point to see. Bloemen Corso Zundert, which has an important place among the flower festivals in the world, is located in the south of the Netherlands.

(Translated by Google) The artwork According to Ossip Zadkine, the destroyed city was created when he drove into Rotterdam, which was damaged by war, by train in 1946. It is in his own words: "A cry of horror at the inhuman cruelty of this executioner" [1]. The statue represents a distraught figure, head and arms are raised to heaven. Zadkine makes the arms, legs and hands point in different directions, giving the image a particularly dynamic appearance. The figure is leaning against a tree stump; the six-meter-high colossus thus has an extra support to maintain its physical balance. The hole in the middle of the hull is particularly striking: Rotterdam recognizes its city center, which was destroyed on 14 May 1940. The sculpture combines important characteristics of Zadkine's sculpture: the human figure, a cubist visual language and the intense expression of emotion.

(Translated by Google) Very modest but meaningful monument. Among modern buildings, it reminds of the cruelty of war. Apparently, it was initially intended as a gift for destroyed Warsaw, but the communist authorities did not agree to it, and so it went to Rotterdam.
