If you don't own a car, it may not be worth taking the risk to visit this place. Although the website provides instructions on using public transportation to reach the museum, it fails to mention that at the end of your journey, you will need to walk along the highway without a sidewalk. Furthermore, once you arrive at the museum, the art exhibits can be problematic, mainly centered around deceased animals. I have no issue with artists using the remains of animals that have already died to create their art. However, it becomes deeply troubling when artists resort to killing animals solely for the purpose of creating their pieces. For example, I saw a "painting" made of dead flies, which is both unsettling and unnecessary. The experience at the museum is not as enjoyable as I had hoped. The place has an unpleasant smell, and some of the artworks seem gimmicky, seemingly designed only to shock visitors. On a positive note, the open-air pieces are the most captivating, providing a breath of fresh air amidst the otherwise disappointing atmosphere. It's unfortunate that the museum appears to be somewhat neglected, given the friendly nature of the staff working there.

Sublime! Must visit. Huge domaine with fine art collection. You can walk trough the exposition rooms and the gardens for hours. Nice cafetaria with a little playground, as well. Great to bring young kids. Hard to get to by public transport, though.

The food they serve is a joke. Just a sandwich and two types of Lays chips. Now they even ran out of the sandwich. Abominable service. A joke. You spend the whole day walking around but you can’t get any nice food on a 10 km radius. Brilliant!

When Alice in Wonderland meets Dr Frankenstein in A Clockwork Orange setting. This is the most unusual museum I've ever visited, with the tagline "sponsored by nature" Indoor and outdoors, it's massive, it's weird, it's dusty, it's really weird but I loved it.

Overwhelming and beautiful. The exhibitions range from disturbing and thoughtful to lighthearted and interactive. A must see if you're in the region. Plan on spending 3+ hours the if you'd really like to experience and digest the art. Not every exhibit is for the lighthearted including one with a range of dead animals and human body parts in varying forms of decay but it can easily be passed over. The experience was stunning and I'll definitely be back.

Definetly worth the visit. A vast and very diverse collection in a nice location. You can easily spend 3+ hours here (or many more). A lot of industrial art and recycling art. Some nice collections too, from African fantasy coffins, over seashells to stuffed animals. (not the plush kind... 😉) Some outdoor works as well as parts of the location are starting to look quite run down. At a place like this, that is certainly part of the charm, but still a little more effort wouldn't hurt...

Really strange museum... I thought this different kind of art would be different but actually it was not... The part under the greenhouses was OK, just wondering why people have such ideas. But the inside was quite disgusting with this organic art (I don't give details, better this way). The only thing interesting was the laughing bird, but still figuring out what it's doing in an art museum...

Very nice open air museum, both for adults and children. Don't expect to spend the whole day there with smaller children, though the park area allows for them to run around. Both inside as outside there is plenty to see. There is little to no explanation around the art works, which is purposeful, but took me some time to get used to, and just digest whatever is there to see as it is. Some pieces are dated / have deteriorated over time, but on the whole it is definitely worth a visit

Very happy I stopped over to visit this amazing museum. Mixture of indoor and outdoor pieces of art/collection. The founder was obviously a eclectic person, there are all sorts of pieces at this museum, it's had to really explain. I will recommend anyone with an open-mind, curious and art lovers to definitely visit. The site is more than 12+ acres so I'll recommend you come prepared and take your time, café on-site to keep you refreshed.

What a fascinating place to visit. Art meets nature. Kind of a lost place...you feel like mankind is gone and nature took over. Fascinating and scary and a fairytale in one place. Hard to describe..you have to be there.

A museum is more than a museum. Although the place is not accessible by Public transport, it is worth a visit. We took a tour with a tour guide. She was excellent in explaining and guiding us through all the "art" work, which doesn't seem like it initially, but it is. Also, I love all the backgrounds of those artworks and how great they can explain life. If you have a car, this is the place to be!

Sehr interessante Ausstellung, anders modern als man erwartet. Kann man empfehlen. Sehr viel im Aussenbereich, deswegen sollte das Wetter schon passen.

This was one of the most unique experiences i could imagine getting for an instagram short that got recommended to me. I just saw the statue garden on the post but this museum is so much more. I love the explanations you get from the artists perspective. However you you need steady feet to walk through some of the experiences. Would highly recommend the weird minded people to visit. You think 5 hours is enough to walk through it all but far from it

Might be the most awesome museum in Belgium. Weird installations and non standard art, inside and outside. A lot of emphasis on recycling/circular material use. Pretty creepy and unsettling or slightly discomforting stuff such as huge amounts of preserved animals, with some decomposing on the spot. Huge garden with a lot art 'buildings' and constructions using everything and anything from shipping containers to metal pipes, scaffolding, concrete blocks, biostructures, etc. Also has a building dedicated to collages. Temporary Panamarenko exhibit. Due to the sheer amount of things to see, count at least 3-4 hours for a full visit.

Contemporary art for all ages in a very informal environment. You can enjoy the pieces of art both in and outdoor. The collection is very diverse and therefor quite accessible for everybody. You can also enjoy the class covered terrace outdoor.

An alternative experience. While there is a lot to see like art with living and dead animals, the 'park' doesn't seems to be well maintained. It's looking old. Things that bother me in museums is when the exposition areas are used to store stuff like chairs etc. Beside that, there is a nice outdoors with much rather rare mushrooms. Yes, I visited in the autumn.

Really wonderfull place, full of amazing art. Pieces and sculptures, some integrated into the gardens and nature. Passing by on our way to the coast, we stopped during a rainy day and only explored the inside exhibition with the kids. Although it is NOT a playground they we're amazed and fascinated. The current expo with pieces of Panamarenko is awesome. We will for sure come back this summer to explore the outside. For the hungry kids, they serve a nice priced 'krok uit het vuistje', enjoy it on their outside terrace! Big thank you for the Verbeke family to share their private collections.

What an amazing place ! Really incredible and out of this world. Walking during spring there is really magical. The outdoor part especially. I highly recommend anybody passing nearby to visit it, take the afternoon if you can, but it’s manageable in les then 1h30 if need be. The outdoor attractions are really worth seeing as it is actually weird and creative.

Made a random stop at Verbeke Foundation. Such a lovely place? It's so random, creepy and fascinating at once? Might be my favorite modern art Museeum/Exhibition! We only had around an hour, but I feel I could spend days here? You really have no idea what will be around the next corner! Massive space and the size of some of these artworks are also massive. Overwhelming art experience in Belgium! So many weird & wonderful items! Highly recommended!

Brilliant day out. If this place doesn't leave you scratching your head a little and wondering "what did we just see?" then something is really amiss. A gallery, a working art space, a place for art to grow.. literally. Our children loved it too. We will be back...

Lovely collection but my Lord, it can use a little paint and love on the inside and the collection could use some more changes over time. Was a pleasant afternoon but the indoor area is sometimes just plane dirty, old and unpleasant to visit. I am very grateful for this amazing place that has no entrance fee (must be said) and offers the opportunity to eat some of the sweetest grapes you’ll ever eat in your life (glass house part of the museum).

Fantastic museum! The inside part had a very interesting exposition about life & death. The outside of the museum was a beautiful park with lot’s of installation. Parking is free, the entrance is easy accessible, there are large toilet spaces near the entrance and a place to buy a drink and a small cart of food (which is kind of expensive).

Best museum for modern art that I've seen. None of the elitism, dogmatism and snobbery one usually finds in these places. Lots of stuff, and no one to tell you what is art and what is not.
