Highly recommended. There are two exhibitions here, one on the history of money and the other on the history of the euro. The entrance is free and you also get free audio guide. The museum is very invested, there are many exhibits and interactive games with huge screens and everything. It seems that a lot of money was invested here, and people don't really come. We were actually the only ones in the museum.

The museum is located in a very lovingly and lavishly restored building that was formerly built for a private bank. The rooms alone are very impressive and worth seeing. The exhibition leads through the history of money from shells to coins and the first paper money to the euro. There are a lot of exhibits. Everything is explained simply and understandably.

Visited with a friend, definitely one of the best museums I've been to. Healthy collection of items related to the history of money in Belgium and Europe. Excellent audio guides and equipment to enhance the experience. Friendly staff. Free entry. You do need to go through security, who were friendly and professional on our occasion, to visit.

This museum is one of the many free things to do in Brussels. The museum is housed in a beautiful building with two floors of exhibits. The second floor was the most interesting to me. It recounts the history of money and banking starting with ancient cultures who used shells or feathered belts as currency and ending with the present-day. There are interactive screens in 4 languages telling you about the exhibits and an audio gives vignettes of important people's lives in the context of money/banking. The downstairs is more about banking/finance today and the art work on money itself.

Was not expecting it to be as good as it was, the in-depth audio-guide was a good addition. Wide range of exhibits, not just limited to Belgium or even Europe. Some interesting pieces, and some interactive quizzes and games. Very modern, well designed.

Free and better than many other expensive museums. Very well organized, in some places interactive. There is also an audio guide and you can print fake Euro banknotes with your photo, both for free as well.

(Translated by Google) I was given a pen to use when pressing the explanation button so as not to touch the staff for infection prevention. The Art Nouveau building is very beautiful. Although it is a small museum, the exhibition was easy to understand, and there were plenty of audio commentary and videos. In addition, there were many exhibitions such as euro bills, and I took a leisurely tour for about an hour. The staff is only near the entrance, and there are no guards in the exhibition area, so if you have any questions, you cannot ask. I entered for free, but I may not have entered if it was paid.

Great experience, it had the right balance of text, interactivity and audio/visual. They also had games focused towards children which would make it also a great option for bigger families. The staff was amazing when it came to friendliness as well as towards answering additional questions and know what they are talking about (history graduates).

It’s one of the few free museums in Brussels. It’s more about the general history rather than showing old coins. It’s not very big, meaning on the other hand that it doesn’t take long, around one hour. Everything is pretty new and they give you an audio guide for free in the language you want.

I would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area, but allow at least an hour to two hours to fully take in the whole exhibit.

A beautiful building and museum! Learned a lot about the history of money, the stock exchange, securities, etc. A beautifully designed exhibition with, in addition to information, many old coins, banknotes, shares and other objects. Recommended! Friendly and very helpful employees and with the Museum Pass you get a nice book as a gift!

I was really surprised by the quality of this museum and both exhibitions. You'll be able to learn more about the history of money and the euro currency. The audio guide is really good and the museum is very interactive. The museum's entry is free and it's usually very low crowded. I recommend you spend at least 2 hours, specially if you're interested in macro economics.

We were very excited to visit the (Museum of the National Bank of Belgium) we struggled a lot to get there. We had done some research and knew that the museum was wheel chair accessible. My husband does not use a wheelchair but he uses a cane, he cannot climb stairs, so we asked if there was a lift, and the person who "attended" us was very rude and with a "smile" told us "NO". We had seen images in internet of the museum where we saw a lift, we simply felt discriminated against by the staff. I sent an e-mail where I complained about what happened. And although they assured that it would not happen again, the truth is that we had very limited time and itinerary when traveling, now I am at home in the U.S.A. And it is sad that due to the arrogance of a member of the staff it was unfair not to know the museum.

It's free museum that you can enjoy. All about the history of money in belgium and then the Euro. Also explain in other culture what will use as money. Explanation of the aproximation of the pay between a man, woman and child/youth. How in old times they calculated the currency and the interests. It is a 3-tier museum, very clean and at the end you can print your picture in the money.

Expect to learn about counterfeit, inflation and design in a very interactive and fun way. Don't forget to visit the first floor and take your team to read up on the info panels. Tons of interesting artefacts to discover. Friendly staff as well :)

Very nice artifacts from different continents. A nice description of the history of money, monetary exchange, credit letters and more. The museum also goes through the history of the economic circuit in Belgium. It explains in detail the European Central Bank. What is the role, how is the bank created, how the euro came around, and how it is managed. Also, how you control a fake 50 bill note.
