The museum was very interesting and was also free entry on the day I visited. It had a very in depth history in regards to photography and was worth looking at. Allow around an hour to visit everything here.

We were absolutely mesmerized by the works of art in the museum. There are different rooms which depict the architecture and lifestyle of diffrent century. You start from number one room and going to up to twent-two. Experience was great as we catched two different exhibitions. We went during public holiday and they were working. No need of buying ticket in advance as reception goes very smoothly. Recommend it if you are in Charleroi ever it is a must visit place!

We visited in late May. Our ‘quick stop’ stretched to over 2 hours! A fascinating collection, well organized, a gem!

Large museum (largest of whole Europe apparently), as they have a great collection with some big names. You follow the history of photography through the centuries (surrealist hall was really cool), get an overview of the important aspects of making good photos in an educative hall and there are different expositions. For sure worth the ride out of the city.

This is well worth the visit. There were 2 exhibitions on when we visited, of documentary photography which were fantastic, Plus there are the permanent exhibitions. I am not a photographer but my partner is and he was very Impressed by the range of works available to see.

Great collection, in the largest photography museum of Europe. Temporary exhibitions as well! Nice place as it is a former Carmel abbaye. Quite difficult to park. A pity that the superbe garden is not really used in the context of the exhibitions and or permanent collection. Nice café in situ.

As a photographer, this was probably my best museum experience in Europe. Fortunately, when I went there, there was an amazing on-going exhibition of photo project from Africa. So many awesome photographs from when photography started back in the 1800s till today. The museum is huge, so I would say get ready to spend there 3 hours at least. Be a professional or just an amateur photographer, or just a passionate about photography, don't miss this if you are in Charleroi.

Returned some 30 odd years later and was amazed how it turned out! The largest photography museum of the world. Congratulations!

Awesome exhibits, I liked the use of the space. Would have liked to see more works related to the local area, but the international perspectives were nice too.

Great experience. Seems small on the outside, it's packed with an excellent collection of photos and a nice set of photographic equipment on display, including a few analogical cameras available to try out. Worth the visit!

They did not accept the Brazilian vaccination certificate. The airport and government accepts for us to come to the country but not a museum? Today is not possible for most tourists to have the EU vaccination passport

Pretty good overall apart from no English translation on any pics or items so I was done pretty quickly, some awesome photos though.

Fantastic exhibition including works from all the greats. The current temporary exhibition on the photography and photographs of Magritte is great too. The small old convent entrance is deceptive - the modern extensions make this a huge museum. I spent 6 hours there! Café with a lovely view of the grounds has a short menu of reasonably priced lunches & snacks.

Really wonderful museum, superb Permanent Collection, obviously heavy on Bel/Franc/Ger art, especially from the early golden age of photography, but great representation from all over the world. Large exhibit on the science of cameras and lenses upstairs for kids to even adults unfamiliar with the science. Huge exhibit on lots of lovely antique cameras, showing the evolution. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this museum and can't believe I lived so close to it for so long and hadn't gone! BONUS: There are discount coupons online and because of Covid regulations currently in play, hardly anyone was in there. (Nice and a pity at the same time.)

One of the best photography museum in Europe. The cafe is nice too.

A great discovery after years on my wish list. The detailed collections take you through a fascinating history of photography. I really recommend the guided tours, if you can join one, to hear the personal stories behind many of the works. Another nice surprise was the building itself - a sympathetic conversion of architectural heritage, and easily reached by public transport.

Great museum if you are interested in photography. 2-3 hours to see everything. English description in most galleries.

I travelled all the way from Krefeld, Germany, only to experience a museum full of photos without English descriptions - only Dutch and French explanations are to be found. This is pretty sad for an institution that wants to be recognized internationally… Come on guys, it’s 2023 and you’re as provincial as if it was still 1989.
