I dislike exercise -- but I love Mark Fisher Fitness. Its welcoming, affirming atmosphere for people at all stages of their own fitness journey has had me hooked for years now. Their trainers have guided, cheered & encouraged me as I've developed strength and stamina, and their emphasis on correct form and listening to my body have kept my muscles & joints safe as my body (and my attitude) has been transformed. I can't believe I actually look forward to workouts now!

Mark Fisher Fitness Home Body helped keep me sane during COVID, and now I find I'm in the best shape of my life (and I'm in my sixties). The advertising is true: a) serious fitness with real results and b) the people are the most wonderful and creative and loving on the planet. I attend classes in-person when in NYC and try to meet up with fellow ninjas whenever we are in the same city. I'm so happy to be a member of the Mark Fisher Fitness Family.

A great, friendly and welcoming atmosphere with excellent trainers. Classes are rigorous but always fun. The trainers pay close attention to form and offer alternatives if a particular move is too stressful for your body. Lots of individualized attention. I took both the large classes and the small training classes and have loved them. In the year I’ve been going, I have felt a real transformation in my body. It happened gradually, but the end result is I’m in better shape than I have ever been in my life. Thank you Mark Fisher!

Life-changing, super-welcoming, joyful fitness land. Chad, Max, Chris, Rachel, Mallory, Wheels, Ting, Sam ... across the board these trainers/class leaders are outstanding. Attentive, supportive, upbeat, and informed! Body, gender, age, fitness-level diversity are all actively welcomed here. Customer service here is also 5 stars - Membership guru Craig is terrific. They never up-sell you. In fact, they get to know you and your needs and help you find the most efficient membership or package to suit your needs. I've been coming to Homebody classes online for 1.5 years and I cannot recommend it more! The Mark Fisher Fitness team has a magical recipe figured out to create community online and keep you coming back for more.

Fitness that is actually fun? I mean, I wouldn't have believed it until I joined this gym. The workouts work, the people are wonderful, nobody takes themselves too seriously, but everybody takes fitness seriously. It's a perfect combination. When I joined online during the pandemic, I had been suffering from injuries that kept me from enjoying my workouts. MFF's form-focused coaching and scale-able workouts got me back in order, and on top that they reignited my love for physical activity. I really appreciate it. Thank you, MFF!

Mark Fisher Fitness is truly a one of a kind, incredible community. I am a Homebody client--working out at home gives me the flexibility I need. Even on zoom, I feel a part of this community and a kind of stress-free accountability to show up for myself and (bonus!) to see my fitness pals and the supportive trainers. I'm always so impressed with the coaches who give nuanced, individual feedback on form, alternative movements if you need modifications, and make themselves available for questions. The programing is smart and varies week to week and class to class so it doesn't get boring. Special thanks to coaches Chris, Wheels, Mallory, Chad, Rachel, Jake, and Sam! 🤟🏻

I have been to many, many gyms in about 5 different states over the course of my life. By far, Mark Fisher Fitness has been the best of them. This gym is easily the happiest place I've ever worked out. Over the last 6 or so years, I've been at MFF both in-person and through Homebody. The workouts are challenging and engaging, the trainers are charismatic and incredibly knowledgable, and the people who join this gym are there to work hard and have fun. If you've ever thought you were not a gym person, give MFF a chance anyway -- they are welcoming of all people, and no one will ever judge you here. If you're new to NYC, that goes triple! In addition to the actual classes, there's an active online community and the gym holds awesome events, fundraisers for great causes, and really helpful lifestyle supports. This community is A+, and I highly recommend it!

I absolutely love MFF! The trainers are the best: highly knowledgeable and super encouraging. The classes and small group trainings deliver seriously challenging yet fun workouts! I always leave the ninja clubhouse feeling empowered, strong, and grateful for the MFF trainers, supportive staff, and inclusive community!

Dear reader, In greatest city in the world exists a private gym wonderland of Demi-god-like trainers and staff, called Mark Fisher Fitness. Be not afeared, though the isle is full of noises this land is abundantly welcoming, endlessly interesting, and vibrantly unique. Enter a mere mortal and test your medal in the renowned Snatched program, develop your skills in a smorgasbord of classes, or train amongst the warriors of the Dragon’s Lair - but have no doubt, each time you walk in and out your are one step closer to immortality. In the span of one magical summer, this weary traveler went from crestfallen, lethargic and physically inactive to interested in regular fitness routines and committed to improving this aspect of life consistently. That is thanks to Mark Fisher Fitness - a place with curated programming, a commitment to long-term growth, and populated by a fascinating community of New Yorkers, not defined by their orientation towards fitness, but rather by their commitment to showing up and showing out. For that, they have my everlasting adoration and my continued desire to come back soon. Sincerely, Hercules-in-training

I was completely sedentary when I started coming to MFF. Three years later, my body feels SO good. This gym is a safe space to learn. Achievements are celebrated, and the staff and trainers genuinely care about members. Plus, it is the most fun you can have working out, and it is easy to feel like a part of the community. Love it here.

I have been a member here for over ten years. MFF has always provided consistently high quality and fun classes led by knowledgeable and caring fitness professionals. I also love that as I have aged, and my life and fitness goals have evolved, that has not meant needing to find a new place to work out. I love that you can be in class with a 20-something professional dancer on the mat to your left and a 60-year-old business owner on the mat to your right, and the class is equally appropriate, challenging, and enjoyable for both. Plus, they will be cheering each other on! It is a truly inclusive and welcoming environment, and I'm so thankful to have found it!

Mark Fisher Fitness is a gem nestled in the heart of Hell's Kitchen. In non-pandemic times, their in-person classes are incredible workouts and foster an amazing sense of community. They've pivoted to an online format for classes (Homebody), which has truly been a lifeline over the past year. Some of the best coaching of my life has happened there during semi-private training sessions, which they're still doing (SAFELY)! I would not be the person I am today without this gym, and how many people can say that about their gym?

I cannot express how much I LOVE to go get my fitness on at MFF, because I know I will never be disappointed. They encourage you to run your own race and the consistency of the other ninjas that attend attests to the great work being done daily and hourly at MFF. I’m so grateful for my fellow ninjas, the availability of class times, the variety of workouts, and the accessibility to knowledgeable instructors that make each workout that much more beneficial. Priceless.

This is truly a gym for people who hate gyms (like me). Working out here is super fun, and it's effective, too -- I've seen some great changes in my body over the past couple of years. The people who work here are lovely and always happy to see you, which makes me actually want to go (unlike other gyms where it's always felt like a chore). Their one-month trial plan is a great deal, so give it a shot!

If you want to work out in a supportive and inclusive environment, Mark Fisher Fitness is the place. No matter what your goals are (having fun working out, learning to love yourself, GAINZ) MFF allows you to run your own race while inspiring you to get 1% better every day. I love the Clubhouse. Workouts there make me feel like a superhuman workout princess. Homebody has been awesome - the trainers at MFF actually manage to make you feel seen and give you helpful corrections and suggestions. It's almost as good as being there. If you've never felt like you fit in at the gym, try MFF.

MFF has the kindest, most welcoming and thoughtful culture. The staff are so personable and really seem to love what they do. It’s infectious. For someone like me who always felt uncomfortable in gym spaces, MFF made very sure I was right at home. Definitely recommend for anyone’s fitness journey.

MFF is amazing, really. Instructors are like....over the TOP welcoming and enthusiastic in a way that will make one happy and giddy! I love the way that folks are just so interested in the clients here and when I first signed up, I feel like I had a heart to heart (video call) with Em, who asked me lots of questions regarding my fitness goals etc. What a way to get to know people entering this MFF universe! Instructors are awesome and you will laugh, smile, or both every time you take class. This is the only studio I know where class starts off with some sort of question (icebreaker) in the beginning of class - (usually totally unrelated to anything I would think of-in a good way!) and everyone's voice is heard. I have also learned about proper form and the ways that my body works through different workouts. Instructors/Trainers are also paying attention to form in a detailed way and make sure that you are getting that "bang for your buck" when it comes to your form in exercise. Thank you MFF!

This was the first gym I ever loyalty attended, and thank God! I have since visited other classes where they move so quickly and people get hurt left and right. My form is amazing, I'm confident, and I'm STRONG. All because of Mark Fisher Fitness. Get your unicorn butt through the door.

Mark Fisher Fitness is life changing. There’s no other way to describe it. I had spent years and years going to gyms, trying to get fit, trying to develop a routine. And nothing ever stuck. Then a friend convinced me to try Mark Fisher Fitness. I’ve never looked back. The clubhouse, trainers, staff, and other class takers couldn’t be more welcoming and friendly. The idea of a kettlebell workout can be intimidating, but everyone there is so supportive and helpful that all fears quickly melt away. The classes are challenging, but always fun. I always get a great workout, and always laugh throughout. I feel strong, healthy, and happy. And now if I have to miss a workout I’m bummed. I cannot recommend trying out Mark Fisher Fitness more. I’d give it 10 stars out of 5 if possible. If you’re wanting to make a change, and gyms are intimidating to you (as they were and still are to me), give Mark Fisher Fitness a try. You won’t regret it.

The people in this gym are amazing! I have had a lifelong struggle with exercise (still do) but it has been greatly improved by my experience at Mark Fisher Fitness. I am no longer as resistant to exercising and getting fit as I once was. They are a great bunch of people who can modify exercises according to your needs. They also challenge you to do better if they feel that you can do better. There is also no stress if you feel that you can't do the exercise; you do what feels best for your body and if you want, you can leave early and try it again next time. They even offer great tips to help with the recovery time. Their emphasis on safety and attention to detail is A+. Fantastic people all around!

I joined Mark Fisher Fitness when they began the Homebody program over the pandemic. I found their trainers enthusiastic, knowledgeable, thorough, compassionate, and truly interested in working with the members. I had just come from working a personal trainer who had no interest in doing online and it was like night and day. MFF session are full of humor, whimsy, and aim towards making the session fun and inclusive of all member's identities and body types. I felt like I belonged.

As my 9 year Mark Fisher Fitness anniversary approaches, I find myself thinking...9 years at a gym?! I never could have dreamed of feeling so at home with fitness but this place, and these people, are beyond extraordinary. Even on days when I don't want to workout, I want to be there. I move my body and feel great every time. I have learned so much over these years. I'm grateful for every moment I'm there and for how great I feel in my life between my visits!

This review is overdue and well deserved. MFF is a place for serious fitness, recovery days and everything in between. In case you haven't worked out with an instructor in impressively short shorts, a tutu, or fairy wings, doesn't mean it's not for you. Coming from a traditional background in training and gyms, I've found that the happiness and kindness that exists at MFF is for everyone. Snatched in the induction but Small Group is an amazing alternative for personal training. Highly recommended!

What you get in joining Mark Fisher Fitness is not only access to incredibly curated strength training classes, you get a community. Truly, a family. In the six months since I joined, I’ve gained muscle and lost fat. I’ve gained confidence and lost doubt. I’ve gained friends and stopped putting my mind and attention towards people and projects that aren’t my friend. I ACTIVELY look forward to taking class, as I know that I will learn something while working as hard as I’ve ever worked and laughing through it all. If the price is a hang up for you, take a look at what it would cost to take classes elsewhere in the city. It’s comparable, if not less than Barry’s, Orange, Soul Cycle, etc. I’ve taken from those gyms before, and I’ve never once felt the kind of connection, transformation, and excitement that I feel here. Give it a try! They often have starter deals that are super reasonable and a great way to feel it out on a budget.

My home away from home! MFF is the Cheers of gyms: you get a warm welcome and a serious workout every time you walk in the door (but not too serious!).

Mark Fisher Fitness saved my life. The only gym I walked in that did not judge me, but showed me I was capable of anything I wanted to do. The only gym that showed me working out can be fun. I never had to compete with anyone. I run my own race and get 1% better every time. I am winning every time I show up. I can deadlift 215lbs on a hexbar! I am in the best shape of my life. They call us ninjas because we came, we saw and we conquered! YAAASSS HONEY YAAASSS!!!

if you're on the fence about joining MFF -- either in-person or their virtual, live workouts -- this is your sign to do it. it has changed my life. i have been a member off and on since 2014 and it is the most inclusive, inspiring, life-changing fitness studio you could possibly imagine. their virtual workout program, Homebody, has kept me sane since March 2020, and i haven't been as consistent with my workouts during the past (nearly) two years as i have since Homebody started. i am stronger than i have ever been, and in better shape too. the community is one of a kind. the fitness is super challenging but you will be encouraged to run your own race. i laugh at least a handful of times during every workout and sometimes forget that i am doing some serious fitness because i am having so much fun. seriously... if you are on the fence... don't question it. you belong here!!!

Other gyms always made me feel weak and lonely; never knowing exactly what to do, too shy to ask anyone for help, too poor for consistent private training sessions on top of a membership. MFF has honestly changed my life. Every day I look forward to crushing my workout and sweating my ass off with my fellow Ninjas. The trainers really take a personal interest in you and help you get 1% better every session. I LOVE THIS PLACE SO MUCH

This place has changed my life. My husband and I had been on the typical gym-going rollercoaster with little success. From the minute we walked into Mark Fisher Fitness, we knew this was different. There is a warmth and a true sense of caring that comes from EVERYONE here. Care and support comes not just from the amazing and highly skilled and qualified staff but also the other members. This is truly a community and not just a gym. You really need to experience it to understand what it's like to engage with your fitness, health, and wellbeing in a space that is truly supportive. The attention you receive will be unparalleled. I have worked with a lot of trainers in NYC at big-box gyms and at private boutique studios and there is simply no comparison. These folks are not only educated and trained in their craft, but they care and they simply get it. It will take hard work and commitment on your end, but they will coach and guide you along the way. When I joined MFF I had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, was significantly overweight, I was on 7 medications to manage my health, and I was simply headed down the wrong direction on my fitness journey. Almost 8 months later, I am off all of my medications, I've lost just shy of 80 pounds, and I've never felt better. I would encourage anyone to give this place a shot. While I acknowledge it isn't for everyone, if you think it is a fit for you, you won't regret maneuvering your resources to make this work for you. I don't really write reviews but I feel compelled to share my experience here in hope that others can find I have - a space and an environment that fosters me being my best self. Simply life changing.

I love Mark Fisher Fitness, and especially the Bowery location. The classes are challenging, lively, and vibrant, while remaining small enough to ensure 1-on-1 attention from the extremely knowledgeable trainers. The staff is welcoming, accommodating, and friendly to all-- newcomers and old-timers, alike. If you're at all particular about things, the Clubhouse is well-appointed and clean. This place really is a magical oasis for fitness and I highly recommend a visit.

  • 5/5 Archie A. 4 years ago on Google
I've been going here for a few years and I gotta say, it's the best gym environment in NYC. Super friendly/knowledgable trainers who you will get to know really well. Other members are super nice. Showers/studios are clean. Classes are hard and based on science, they play fun music, and offer a lot of different scheduling options/types of workouts. I would highly recommend this gym if you want to get/stay in shape.

  • 5/5 Monish P. 1 year ago on Google
MFF is an inclusive, fitness melting pot of genuine souls committed to bettering your physical health. The community is egoless and pure. The workouts are challenging, but adaptable to any skill level. I am grateful for this studio. They have many intro offers, so definitely worth checking this out if you are looking into community based fitness classes!

This place changed my life. Sad to hang up my membership after ~7 years due to moving. I joined this gym back in 2016ish after witnessing the transformation of a few work colleagues. Not just a physical transformation, but a transformation of energy and charisma as well. I started with Snatched in 6 Weeks and had an excellent education in the fundamentals of healthy strength and mobility training, and over the years have been building my skills with more coaching and across the regular zigs and zags that are our health and wellness. At times, I've had more time to invest and that has been great. At other times (new job, wedding, pandemic) I've chosen to scale down the energy investment and the MFF community is a place that works either as part of a routine or a place of focus and reinvention. The teaching here is excellent and I think that has a lot to do with excellent communication from the coaches. The coaches bring so much passion and heart to what they do. One thing that has changed since before/after the pandemic is the online element of the gym. Pre-pandemic, the gym was more of a dynamic community in-person environment. It is now more hybrid in nature with many members preferring to take online group classes. In my view, something significant has been lost here and I would hope to see a rebuilt in-person community return in force. If you are considering joining, I highly recommend Snatched in Six Weeks to jump start your journey and my advice is to fully invest in that experience and go from there!

I absolutely love this gym! The instructors provide an excellent workout and a positive attitude on life after you leave. Ethaniel was kind and courteous at setting me up for success at the gym. I truly can’t say enough. The instructors and guests were all kind and provided a warm inviting atmosphere that’s accessible for everyone, regardless where you’re starting from. Come join MFF! You won’t be disappointed! 🦄

MFF is such a great and welcoming environment. Everyone there is amazing. You have fun on top of getting fit. Would definitely recommend this Gym if you’re looking to fulfill your fitness goals.

MFF quite literally changed my life! Specifically through their Snatched in Six Weeks program, I've reached (and surpassed!) fitness goals I didn't think were possible at this point in my life. From the trainers to the community itself, I highly recommend Mark Fisher Fitness to anyone looking to live a healthier life and see results.

Hands down, the best, warmest, quirkiest, awesomest gym in Manhattan. It's all classes or small private training sessions (no open gym time). The trainers are amazing, the classes are fun, the instruction is tops, and above all, there's a real sense of COMMUNITY. What have you got to lose?

  • 5/5 Jen 2 years ago on Google
I'm thankful for the ninja army and all of the coaches who have helped me find strength and community this year. I signed up in April after a year of lockdown and years of being pretty sedentary. By late summer, I was sporting abs! More importantly, I FEEL GOOD in my body. It's a strong, reliable, happy little engine that carries me to all my favorite destinations. Thanks for the new body, and the renewed outlook.
