There was a language barrier but we worked through it. Our waiter was very kind and offered us a small treat at the end of our meal. If you eat gluten free the pizza is so good. Its worth a visit.

Bioesseri was a delightful, unexpected discovery during a seven night stay in Palermo in February 2018. Although we also tried other restaurants / trattorias that served vegetarian food, my wife and I inevitably came back to Bioesseri for many reasons of quality. Firstly, the restaurant caters for vegetarian and vegan diners with a good selection of wonderful, inventive dishes made from organic / sustainable source produce. (For those that do, fish and meat options are also available). We particularly enjoyed the panelle (chickpea fritters) starter (a Sicilian specialty); Farro alla Norma (a twist on a Sicilian favourite) primi ; the red cabbage with cheesy mashed potato primi (a hugely, tasty surprise); the smoked buffalo mozzarella and gorgozola pizza using a Spelt flour base; and the deconstructed canolo which made us smile. There was a very good selection of wines, supporting favoured bio-vineyards and suppliers. We enjoyed being guided through them, available by glass or bottle. Bioesseri is not for those on a tight budget but equally it is not as expensive as some high end or hotel restaurants. The wines especially are a little pricey but for which you get undoubted quality. Bioesseri is designed to be a restaurant and cafeteria that sells bio-produce but what makes it a stand out apart from the cuisine and decor is the quality of staff. Grazie mille to Pietro Pizzo and Salvo Camarda the directors, Daniele Gravanti (Maitre), Franscesco Sciarratta (Barman) Samanta, Ester Gargano (waiters) but most especially to Manfredi Neri who served us for the four nights, someone who is knowledgeable in his job and provides good conversation without being imposing. We wish you all continued success and look forward to seeing you in London!

Normally I can trust the rating on google but today I’ve learned to think twice. The atmosphere was lovely and the waiter spoke English which was a plus. The main reason we chose this restaurant was it was one of the first to pop up on vegan options in google. There is one vegan dish on this menu. Everything else has cheese and you must request it to be changed. I chose a pizza and it was the most disappointing thing I have eaten in my life. The swamp of oil and water from the tomato sauce in the middle of the pizza made it a floppy mess and inedible. The server only came to take our order then they avoided ever coming to our table. We had to ask for water twice!!! Then after that disappointment we go to the register to see a 5 euro sitting fee per person!!!! They gave me the most disgusting pizza then charged me to sit there to not eat it. Don’t waste your time and save your money. My friend liked her pasta though.

Absolutely delicious! My partner is vegan and gluten free which is how we found this delightful restaurant. Friendly waitstaff, plenty of dietary friendly options and everything was simple, fresh, local. Good selection of natural wines as well. Lovely interior, and affordable prices. Would definitely come back!

Dont except anything expectional. Overpriced for the quality you are getting.

Bioesseri is an organic gem in heart of Palermo. We were so grateful to find an all organic restaurant of this caliber in the capital of Sicily. If you are in Palermo or visiting Palermo and looking for an organic fine dining restaurant, a visit to Bioesseri is a must! Bioesseri literally translates into “To Be Organic” and this amazing gem 💎 is complete with an executive chef who proudly highlights organic ingredients throughout his dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff and kitchen are highly accommodating to dietary restrictions. There is something for everyone! The space is the perfect balance between rustic and modern, making it definitely an unusual restaurant for Sicily, but very welcomed and loved. Other locations of this incredible ristorante is in Milan. Some of our top highlights are the quinoa meatballs, pizza and cappuccino.

Rude staff and no communication regarding the product. Thought it was sugar free and an extremely sweet drink arrived

Desserts and coffee are really nice here, but the waiters do their work u professionally, often forget the details of order and are slow, even when there are few visitors.

We were promised a gluten free pizza & unfortunately after the fact had a reaction to said pizza… please make sure you use different areas to prepare your gluten free foods, as this is very dangerous! One of the women staff was also quite rude to us when we arrived!

Excellent service, good dishes, not totally traditional menu options. Wine was just ok.

Excellent pizza, veal, fruit drinks and pastries. Went for a late morning nibble and lunch. Glad that everything is organic. Well worth a visit. I’d read other reviews that weren’t very good but we didn’t experience anything bad. Service was good too.

Best place to eat in Palermo. Came here twice in just 7 days of being there because food / wine was fab, staff were amazing - most helpful and friendly in Palermo, and not quality food for very reasonable price. Worth noting we didn’t go anywhere else twice on our holiday, don’t like to repeat unless it’s worthy.

Great restaurant with good menu and tasty food. It's a bit outside of the city center and the outdoor area does not have an amazing view but inside the restaurant is very cozy, the waiters are super friendly and you get high quality food for a good price 👍

Nice environment, good for an afternoon snack, with local made cakes or a good selection of teas or for dinner. Really good pizza as well as other dishes.

Only few vegan options on the menu, and you need to pay for everything even for mozzarella you never eat.

  • 5/5 Johannes M. 2 years ago on Google
Tasty food, beautiful restaurant, friendly waitress. The best thing, everything is organic! They even serve gluten free cakes, try la torta caprese or the typical Sicilian dessert with melone. All coffee specialities can be made with different vegan milks. Of course the prices are on a relatively high level, but organic products are just more expensive than conventional products. It's not only about taste but also quality, health care and ethical standards.
