Being pretty new to fish keeping, I visited Sierra several times over the past month with nothing but questions about tank cycling, fish compatibility, substrate, water chemistry…you name it. I found the staff incredibly helpful and patient in answering all of my questions. Everyone I spoke with was great but Alyssa was especially knowledgeable in helping me choose the right fish for my tank setup. No, you won’t find perfectly stocked and squared-off products on the shelves or polished floors. But it’s the slightly disorderly charm of the store that makes this place great. This is the sort of ma and pa shop full of experts and animal lovers that you are glad exists so you aren’t forced to shop solely at the Petcos of the world. Their selection of fish, plants, decorations and equipment FAR outweighs the box stores anyway. Do yourself a favor and stop by.

So for whoever wants to buy fish, make sure you are a professional and have a professional tank, this place is not for first timer. So..I bought 10 finshes for my two boys ( haven't seen them a while and promised them bring fish pet for them ), im a newbie in this but i started to learn and bought oxygen filter the day i purchased them and im planing a bigger tank, but next day 2 tiger barb of the 5 are dead. I brought them back and wishing to exchange the 5 tiger bard to something easier for my kid, the manager Doris seems very angry about it，she first intended to test the water I brought in ( I told her I only had them when I switched from tank to bag 5 mins ago), well, the water tested fine but she then said she refused to return the two dead one which I'm fine but what she then said surprise me, She said ( exact words)" I WON'T SELL YOU ANY FISH UNTILL I PERSONALLY SAW YOU GOT THE BIGGER TANK". I mean, who gives you right see what I buy? And if i have a tiny fish do i need a 30 yards tank? Super rude and never came again, also, if you check 1 star reviews lots are about fish die next day and how the customer were treated bad by the "old lady" Doris. Just be aware what and who you are deal with. Also, bring water sample when return fish?? Is it a way to refuse return or what?

Best pet store I've seen in a long time. Prices seem reasonable and their fish selection was pretty good. Staff were friendly. They were much busier than I expected though so during these covid times try to go at off hours if you can.

This store has the best selection of fish and also the most knowledgeable staff. Not only do they have the best selection, but you don't have to worry about taking home a sick fish. They know what they are talking about and don't just try to make a sale. They will help you make good decisions for your aquarium!

Good quality fish. However when I came in to buy a hamster, the old lady that works there asked what my age was and I told her I was 18 at the time. She said she was asking cause they couldn't sell the pets to minors and I was okay with that question... but then she proceeded to ask me if I lived with my parents which was none of her business and was a question about my personal life... Refused to sell me the hamster that I wanted because I told her I lived with my parents. The hamsters were showing every sign of stress from the wheels being too small, to the lack of space, and no sand bath which is a terrible example to potential hamster owners. Fortunately this kid said he would ring me up and I saved this hamster....I eventually Came back in after doing more research for some sand because hamsters need sand to bathe themselves. The same lady tried to sell me chinchilla sand which can kill a hamster cause the fine sand gets in their lungs causing respiratory infection. They have great fish. However I do not recommend buying small mammals from here due to the lack of knowledge they have on them. Please do your research before you purchase a small pet from anywhere because they also lied to me about the hamsters age. The guys that work there are super friendly and honest. Great customer service from everyone except her.

I love this place and I would love to give a 5 star rating but I purchased a Leopard Gecko on February 15th 2019 and I asked several people, a few different times, for more information (such as age and where my reptile came from) and I've kind of been given the run-a-round and was told I would hear back with answers to my questions but I never have. I would love to know even roughly how old my pet is (I was told she was either 8 weeks or 8 months but that's a HUGE difference so that's worrying) and that it was from a local breeder but not what breeder, so I don't know what genetics she has, what morph(s) she could be or anything......I just want to know as much about my pet as possible for interest and health reasons. She seems healthy and she has a great personality but when I decided to get a second one, instead of going back to this store, I bought from a breeder online because of this experience.

Cute place with support for all types of pets including birds, fogs, tarantulas, fresh and saltwater fish, rats, and mice. They have a good supply of feeder insects and prices seem comparable to other pet shops. Also have tons of variety on cat and dog items. And live plants for fish tanks. Staff was very nice and would check in occasionally. Narrow aisles just as an FYI if that makes you uncomfortable or plan to bring a child as they'd definitely need to be watched closely here.

This has been my family's pet supply store for 2 year's now. Great prices knowledgeable staff you won't regret coming here. We have a bearded dragon and With the help of the staff he has survived 2 years So far with many more to come. Our kids enjoy the visits to see all the different animals they have.

Great and friendly service! Last time I went in, I was personally helped by a knowledgeable employee (or owner??) who remembered me from previous visits and hand-picked plants for me. He even chose specific feeder goldfish with attractive colors since I planned to put them in my outdoor pond (usually you cannot ask for specific colors from the feeder fish tank). Also directed me to a good nitrogen cycle starter and a net for easier fish care/pond cleaning, and a good fish food brand. Very reasonable prices and a great selection!

Great shop, wonderful products and selection. I enjoy going here and will continue to go here- but had to take 1 star off for the organization. It could be nicer inside, its pretty messy and crowded. Overall great though.

Yes prices have gone up thru the last few years but what hasn't right. Still a great location for feeders, exotics, aquatics, and more. +Their loyalty program can save you quite a bit on bigger purchases if you save those points up.

This is my favorite pet shop in wa state. The staff are fantastic and they have a great selection of fish/pets. My favorite part of this particular shop is that they have feeder ghost shrimp for a great price. If you are a repeat customer they also give discounts:)

I love the fish selection in this place! All of the aquatic stuff they have is great. The staff is really knowledgeable and helpful. Sometimes they have puppy events which is fun and cute. The prices are reasonable and they have a nice rewards program. They do have bunnies and mice and some lizards and stuff as well as the Quantico section but i feel like the majority of the store is fish related. Overall I highly recommend this store for any fish or aquatic needs.

Nice selection of cat and dog food and varying bag sizes. Prices are easy to see so you don't have to go up to the register and be surprised. Sales clearly marked throughout the store. I signed up for their rewards program with just my phone number and got first purchase 10% off.

Travelled pretty far just to see some good pet stores, and this place did not disappoint. It's got a good selection of mostly everything and some beautiful fish. You can definitely tell it's family owned, it's got a "homey" feel.

Knowledgeable people with Large selection. Bring patience if you want help. They are friendly and helpful, so always in demand.

Got my little goldfish from here. She is doing amazing and I love her. They have a great variety of fish and equipment. If you can't find what you need in this store then you don't belong near a fish tank

This is my favorite pet store. It has everything that I need for my exotics at great prices! I've been coming here for over a decade, even after I moved away from Renton. It is a tradition to walk through the whole store, even if I just need a couple things. It's a sight to see and they usually always have something different to see!

This place is convenient for the Renton community. However the aquarium area could use a little work. The tanks seem on the dirty side and fish can be sick so be careful. However the prices are cheaper than most shops in the surrounding area. I would highly recommend going through the quarantine process at home if you buy fish from here. Overall they do a good job with room to improve. On the flip side, my wife often shops for dog stuff and will price check before buying. She often finds that things are priced higher here. However we will occasionally buy dispute higher prices to support local businesses or out of convenience.

Been a fresh water fish and tank service customer at the SF&Pet Shop in Renton since 2020. Terrific guidance and help in all stages of fish keeping with my tall profile 20 and 40 gallon tanks from SF&Pets. The "monthly" fish tank cleaning and maintenance service has been wonderful!!! Thanks to seasoned and professional guidance from the SF&Pet's aquatic service team, there's good "balance" in both tanks and they stay clean for four full weeks. (These Days: Multi variegated KOI Angels, a white algae eater, one white&gray striped loach, one string algae eating molly fish, a big orange ish mystery snail and live plants in each tank) A shout out to Mississippi TREY & COLE on the SF&Pet's service aquatic team. 😁😁 They do a great job taking care of our two tanks with consistency, so we can just enjoy them. Trey suggested a single molly fish to go after my problematic re-occurring green string algae that kept coming back. In less than thirty days this squatty looking black molly (Murphy) took care of this annoying problem permanently!!! He also doesn't take any S - I - T from our beautiful territorial angels in that tank. 🐱🐟Mischievous Meadow loves this new addition to our hallway angel tank and she's buddies with Murphy these days. (The big wood chunk on top of each tank keeps Meadow from flipping the lid open to go fishing!!! = Our tanks have been kitten proofed since they were three months old!!! 🙀🙀) Having a fish tank in our guest bathroom is alot of fun!!!🐠🌿🐠 (AKA: The Fur&Fin BR) Our B&W Tuxedo cats, Mischievous Meadow & Mellow Mica love hanging out with their fish buddies and it gives our home a peaceful ZEN atmosphere. Family owned. Staff is very friendly and helpful. You can find things here you'd never find at a Petco/Mart. Tons of birds, snakes, lizards, spiders, rodents, and a whole bunch of fresh and salt water fish. You go straight to the back of the store and enter a whole new world of fish aquariums. An absolute delight.

Variery of pet goods. My go to for aquarium tanks. Sierra has several rimless tanks at reasonable prices. They host a pet adoption a couple times a month. If you're looking for a dog I suggest it.

We originally loved this place. Great selection of fish and plants.. However, we recently got a fish from them and that fish had velvet. We have currently lost 6 fish in our tank and they won't take responsibility for it. They say they never get velvet in their tank but then where did this come from? That fish was the only one we had added in over a month and it died within 4 days. Well never go here again.

This is my go-to pet store! They're always very nice, friendly and helpful whenever I need anything. They have a wide variety of pets and it's always fun to see them :) Their aquatic area is out of this world, it's so amazing the variety of fish there are and their knowledge is amazing! It really shows the care that they have for their animals and it's definitely on a whole other level compared to other pet stores.

This pet shop was fantastic. The owner was ready to help with any questions and was knowledgeable about all the products they carried. Excellent selection of products for dogs, cats, fish, birds, tiny mammals, and other critters. Overall a great local shop with competitive prices and friendly and helpful staff.

The store is awesome. Took one star off because they have a real grinch of an old lady for a cashier. The rest of the crew are awesome, but she is rude and abrasive for no reason. That's been our experience with her EVERY time.

Edit to previous review: Great selection but take it with a grain of salt. A friend's plants he bought had snails on them, and I saw lots of sad Bettas. They also sell very small tanks that make me worry. Higher prices on everything, but you can put up with it to support your LFS. Very knowledgeable employees!

Very crowded place! Customer service was excellent. Had water checked for my aquarium. Bought 10 Orange Sunkist Neocaridina's. All 10 made it home and still alive after a week 👍

Really sad to see rabbits and guinea pigs being kept together. It's fatal for the guinea pigs because rabbits naturally carry bordetella. I also saw the rabbits picking on the guinea pigs and they can't eat the same food. Fish tanks were very dirty rest of the store was very messy and unorganized. Some of the foods looked very old and possibly expired. I'mproper habitats for some. I'd only buy supplies here. But even with that your still supporting a business that doesn't care for the animals as well as they should. Would not recommend.

I loved the assortment of different fishes, as well as small pets. I've been prior to covid, they hosted adoptions/fostering of cats/dogs. Which i loved because I would go and search for the puurfect addition to my family.

They have a large rabbit housed with a guinea pig. This presents multiple dangers to the guinea pig - injury, inadequate diet, and exposure to Bordatella (a bacteria that causes fatal pneumonia in guinea pigs) Attempts to educate staff were dismissed with zero concern. Any veterinarian worth their salt will tell you guinea pigs and rabbits can not share common living quarters.

My partner and I bought our two rats from this store over two years ago! We initially were going to buy one, but were correctly informed at least two would be best. The rats aren’t feeder rats, but from an actual breeder. They were/are still healthy and happy, and are just now showing signs of natural aging. We’re thinking of getting two new babies from here very soon. Staff was very friendly and informative, and helped us with picking out the correct enclosures and supplies for our little fur balls.

Carries a wider variety of exotic pet supplies compared to a Petsmart or such where it's focus on dogs and cats. Was able to find what I needed for my gecko and there's so much to look at in there! Really cool for a first visit!

This had been the best store for finding everything that I have been wanting to set up my tank. They also had a great selection for taking care of your birds and small mammals. One of the things that I appreciated the most about this store was that it was kept very clean and organized.

And Great selection of a lot of different kinds of fish, birds and reptiles. This is where I got my first snake from. She is doing great, have had her for about a year now. It's the only pet shop I'll go too.

This pet store is beyond way cool some of the stuff they have here is amazingly beautiful . I love going here to see the stuff they have here its kinda like a trip to the zoo or aquarium awesome . This place is very easy to find and there's plenty of parking places to park you're car at . It's a great place to visit with you're family and friend's . #love

It was concerning to see their "large bearded dragon" that an employee claimed to be 2 years old looking severely dehydrated and super small for his age. They also use a red heat lamp for it which is terrible for bearded dragons. Anyone with knowledge on bearded dragons know that. Refer to the picture I uploaded. It was sad to see. If you guys need a reptile associate, let me know. Looks like you guys may need some help.

As the name states, this is a FISH and Pets store. There is a huuuuge variety and options for fish supplies, decorations, tanks, etc. There are supplies for other kinds of pets too, a VARIETY that is not just focussed on dogs and cats only like other big-box stores like PetCo or PetSmart. The store supplies and the aisles are a little narrow and a bit "disorganized" . (I feel a little crammed shopping here sometimes). However, the helpful and friendly staff are just friendly and awesome, and will answer any questions you have. If you want bright lights, almost sanitized, open, no one around, dog/cat only supplies yeah, go to PetCo or PetSmart. This is locally owned, down-to-earth, all- kinds- of-pets- and -critters-are welcomed -and we- have- the -supplies- for-them kind of store.

Every time I go there the customer service is subpar. They know what they're talking about. It's usually like pulling teeth to get help though
