Our recent stay at JW Marriott Hills Country in mid-September was quite disappointing. We had booked a long weekend with high hopes of enjoying the spa and a special dinner, even bringing along formal attire for the occasion. However, upon our arrival, we were informed that there were no available restaurant reservations for either of our days. The initial lack of a warm welcome was noticeable, and we had to carry our own suitcases to our room. To add to our frustration, there was no complimentary water in our room as promised. Additionally, we were told we would receive a free breakfast, but this benefit was denied to us during our stay. Given the premium price we paid (over $450 per night as per points), our expectations were understandably high. Regrettably, our experience fell far short of those expectations. We believe that JW Marriott Hills Country should provide superior service to its elite Marriott guests and all guests paying a premium for their stay. As a result, we can only rate our stay as a 5/10. We hope that these issues can be addressed for future guests to ensure a more enjoyable and satisfying stays. Plus the hot tub was very cold and pool today in the morning was freezing. The temperature of water was not offered and the pool service was very limited. The bottom line - our experience with this property was not great and we are not planning to return there in future. We would recommend that you inform your hotel guests about availability of your restaurants and at least to provide the best alternatives for their dining. The concierge service is absolutely necessary and a must in hotels of this caliber and it should be provided to your guests who come there from multiple destinations to spent some very special time.

The resort is a beautiful place to spend a weekend or attend a conference. The staff go over board to be accommodating. My room was not very clean but they had to clean 800 rooms for our company event. The water park is amazing and the food can't be beat. The fish at dinner was so flaky and juicy. The desserts every meal were good portions and so sweet. I highly recommend this resort if your planning a trip to San Anton.

Super nice place, all the staff are friendly. There were some issues when we first arrived and they accommodated us. I recommend going when it is warm out. The pool is heated, but it's still pretty cold when the outside temp drops below 75-80 degrees. Is the water park great, I do wish the hours extended past 10pm for the adult pool at least. The scenery is amazing. You will see wildlife, beware the raccoons will get into your things at night if you leave them out, but they are harmless. The food is also very good. Overall, yes, it is expensive, but if you can afford it, it is by far the best resort in San Antonio.

I wasn't impressed with the rooms here. We loved the water park and the activities that were offered. But for the price I expected the rooms to be perfect. The room wasn't super clean ...it was ok. We stayed 4 nights and our room was not cleaned the whole time we were there, not even after we asked to have them cleaned. We ended up having to ask for towels multiple times because of this problem, and since the phones didn't work, this was more of a hassle than you would think. All in all we did enjoy our stay outside of the room. The staff was helpful and responsive in every other way. The food was good. They have a BBQ on the lawn with the best beef ribs and brisket ...and a bounce house to boot on the weekends. We got cabanas throughout our stay and enjoyed it at multiple pools. Kids had a great time!

This is the third JW Marriott we have visited in the last three years. The JW experience in each has been amazing. If you are looking for an amazing family vacation spot, where you never have to leave the resort or you have the option to if you want, then this is an awesome option. The family loved the multiple pools, water slides, and lazy river so much that we never left the resort during our week long stay. We enjoyed each of their restaurants, including the steakhouse, so depending upon your mood, you will have an option that works for you. Would also recommend a cabana rental in advance, which was a great way to get some shade, rest, and great pool side service. They have a selection of kids' activities each day, which our kids took advantage of daily. The projects were different throughout the entire week. Beautiful views and resort! Would highly recommend.

Been coming here for years. Rooms getting a bit tired and could use a refresh, who wants carpet in their room these days?! Pool staff great and well kept and seen several folks there remain season after season. Restaurants pricey, and mixed drinks are very pricey. Fridge in room is nice Rates are getting too high though. Great activities for kids but they will nickel and dime you.on some of these.

Staying here, you don't ever have to leave . It's like a vacation within a vacation. The lazy river and the pools were AWESOME, not much for golf. 4 different restaurants and underground parking, I can't say enough about this place. Activities for the kids, they had a build a bear workshop for the kids and Santa was there as well.

Spent Thanksgiving Weekend with the family and they will never forget it! From the beautiful hotel, never ending activities and a staff that is top notch, you will not find a better place that 3 generations are all catered to! It was a little chilly, but with the lazy river and pool being heated, everyone was able to enjoy the waterpark. The Christmas slides, decorations and light shows will bring us back every year!

Beautiful property! Many activities to enjoy. Christmas here is magical, and the service is excellent. I think it's a fantastic place for a short Christmas vacation. We came last minute, and my daughters had a wonderful time. My youngest turned 4, and even the front desk girl sent a special treat. We will never forget this stay, and surely, my daughters won't either. The service is excellent. Highly recommended.

So I went to The JW Marriott SA and when we walked into the building it was like luxury and professional the staff were super friendly. We went to our room (which of course was luxurious) and they had comfortable beds I do wish the towels were a bit softer though. We went to the water park next which was one of the best water parks I have been too the lazy river was my personal favorite but the tube slides are a close follow up. Also we were celebrating my birthday there and when we got back from the water park there were balloons tied to a wooden case that had amazing chocolate covered berries with a little card inside. Overall best resort I have ever been too I look forward to going again sometime soon

True rating of like 3.75 stars. Pros: Lovely resort! The staff is phenomenal - especially the spa workers. Everyone I encountered was extremely helpful. The grounds are beautiful. Cons: Room service is overpriced and majorly lacking in variety, taste, and consistency. My door was horribly stuck and hard to open. And for a highly-rated resort, I would expect there to be a few other things to do on site.

This place was lovely. I have never slept in a more comfortable bed in a hotel. That’s basically a miracle. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. We loved the lazy river. I’m sure when it’s full of children it’s awful but in October it was a delight. The steakhouse was also very delicious.

Our family has frequented JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa for several years now. We have been to Hyatt Lost Pines and Lakeway Spa and Resort and by far JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa is the best for our family for location, amenities, conveniences and cost. When the kids were younger we would scope a spot by the kiddie pool with the slides and just hang out all day. As they got older we would hop between the beach and the main pool. We can spend the entire day at the pool and they never get bored. Most of our visits have been in the height of the summer heat, but we did attend once in the fall and the weather was gorgeous. The pools were heated and there were no crowds. The resort has trails, hourly activities, meeting spaces, outdoor green space for games, etc. They cater to all you needs. The restaurants all have a very unique menu and quite pricey, but we were able to manage the kids meals and entrees with no issues. Our kiddos loved the nightly smores outdoors and we loved sharing a cabana with friends so we had a 'home base' that was sheltered and cozy. We will be back at least once per year.

We stayed at the JW in August 2023 on my birthday. Upon check-in, Rebecca and Caitlin made me feel very special! (Thank you so much!!) Then we went to the spa and everyone there and at Replenish Spa Bistro was so welcoming. The pool was nice to relax in after the massage and there was a server to bring drinks and food. He gave exceptional service. We ate at 18 Oaks and had a delicious meal. Cibolo Moon also has fabulous food. The hotel was fairly empty which was nice at the pool and slides. We will definitely visit again in mid August.

Amazing mini getaway! We traveled from Houston with our 10 month old son and had the most amazing visit! Our experience was so great that we decided to make this an annual staycation! Thanks to Toby our check in process was smooth and informative. The resort is beautiful with everything you could need from tasty restaurants, a Starbucks, nice shops, bars, game room, a spa, water park/pools and impeccable views. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Our favorite part was the water park/pool - there is something for everyone! The resort is very family/kid-friendly but there is still a good balance that we would come here without our kid too! Feedback - the only hiccup of our trip is that they never brought our bags up. My husband had to go down and wheel up the cart himself after waiting for a while. This took away from the luxury experience for us.

The location where the resort is, is not secluded. The rooms are clean and housekeeping does a great job. The staff is friendly and they provide you with a play pen for free if you ask for one. We upgraded to the buffet breakfast. The food was delicious exactly what I expected. They have nice restaurants but is a bit pricey. The resort has beautiful views and the landscaping is nice. I love that the resort is family friendly. The water park was great and the kids loved it. They have so many things to do three days is not enough time. We will definitely come back!

I would like to first start out with saying this resort is breathtakingly stunning. There are tons of trails and nature around. There’s animals to see- we saw butterflies and bees and raccoons and deers ! My elderly mom truly enjoyed this beautiful place. The restaurants had decadent foods and I love that they even incorporated a bit of Asian cuisine in one of the restaurants! The resort does close down at 10pm except for a bar that stays open a little later. There’s so many pools- I highly recommend the lazy river and the infinity pool!! The spa also has its own pool and it’s very peaceful. We enjoyed the many rooms the spa offers- meditation and sauna room and the jacuzzi ! Spa appointments seemed to need to be booked early - none available when we went but you can get a spa pass to spend day at spa. I do wish this was just included in the resort because it seemed silly to have to buy entry into the spa when you already pay so much for your room (500/night ) Onto the business items- Customer service should be worked on. I do think for such a nice resort it seemed like employees were not as well trained and not as helpful. We were told wrong information a number of times.

Wonderful experience for a staycation. Beautiful, comfortable rooms, excellent restaurants, and several bars, (including one of the best sports bars I’ve ever been to). The spa offers many services that will leave you feeling pampered, relaxed, and rejuvenated. The pool and outdoor activities provide fun activities for adults and families alike. The hotel transforms into a spectacular Winter Wonderland during the holidays, which is a must see! The JW also hosts the annual Texas Open Golf Tournament which is an event you don’t want to miss!

I stayed at the JW Marriott in December. It was beautiful resort! The adult pool had a nice golf course view, the water slides and lazy river looked fun, very friendly staff, Starbucks (although the line was quite long at times), there were bars and food options. The gym was great too, plenty of cardio machines and weights. The resort was beautifully decorated with Christmas lights, displays, and music. The location is a little bit of a drive from downtown, but you have everything you need right there. I can't wait to go back and stay again when it's a little warmer so I could enjoy the pool and lazy river!

Wonderful staff. Beautiful grounds and I appreciate the use of natives in the landscaping. So many pools; body slides; a lazy River with a plethora of tubes. The Great staff cannot be overlooked or taken for granted. The seating inside the lobbies is generous and comfortable- with staff checking up on guests. Lots of space for walking. A lovely visit.

Wow! We came here for a conference and we’re blown away by the courteous staff, and amazing food! We didn’t have time for the spa or the water park, but given the hospitality and amenities we will definitely return for a more leisurely stay and maybe even bring the kids along, or, maybe not. There is plenty to do adult wise if you want to get away from the kids. What a great experience!

Thank you Marriott for the best anniversary. From an upgraded room, to chocolates and wine. The amenities were amazing, from pool to chess to tennis… the list goes on and on. We couldn’t have spent the day and night better. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you for your hospitality! What a breathtaking resort!

Wow what an amazing place. The friendliest and most helpful staff I have ever seen. The resort is total luxury. Exceptionally kid friendly. The JW goes above and beyond to make the experience perfect. My only suggestion is that it is so quiet at night you can hear anything so I would recommend a white noise machine at night. Highly recommend this JW Marriott Resort.

We will certainly be back. This resort was amazing. They were extremely attentive, the bathroom was stocked with more than enough towels. My kids were comfortable on the pull out sofa. One of the nicest balconies I've ever had in a hotel room. The water park was a perfect way to end our trip. The extra touches like the smores around the fire pit were an added touch that really elevated our experience.
