I have never been to a “Laos” eatery. So this was my first experience. It kind of reminded me of Thai food. I did not have a reservation but they were able to see me pretty quickly for dinner on a Saturday evening. They were also pretty busy, but was accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious. It was fresh and hot and was very tasty. The dishes I chose packed a lot of flavor. The service was top-notch. We did not wait long for anybody to take our order or drink orders and the food came out relatively fast. I can normally clean my plate however, this time I wanted a little bit of everything so I was unable. The next time I’m in town, I will be stopping in again. I highly recommend trying this out!

This place was packed, the service great, and my dish was very tasty. However, there were a couple things that prevent me from giving it more than three stars. The most Important is that my friend had stomach issues after eating here. Now, was it the food here or something else? Not sure, but we ate the same thing the entire day, except for the dish here. The other big thing was that we sat at the bar. The couple next to us ordered a fish that smelled so strongly that it was overwhelming. I could not enjoy or finish my meal the smell was so strong. This is not the restaurant's fault and I applaud them for having dishes like that one, but it did greatly affect my experience and this is, after all, my review. The last thing is that the bill comes with a 20% service fee automatically tacked on to it. This may be normal in DC, but it doesn't mean it should be. What is next? A 20% kitchen surcharge? I gave a tip to our server because she was awesome. But I did not appreciate the automatic 20% upcharge.

This was my first time eating Laotian food and it was incredible. 👌🏾 It seems very similar to Thai food with a few notable differences, and the cocktails tasty and unique. The outside seating feels so serene for a restaurant in the middle of the city. Our waiter was very helpful w/ explaining each dish, and provided superb recommendations. I Will most certainly be returning!

Had my eye on this place for a while, glad I was finally able to make the trip. The food was immensely delicious. Had the pork belly & shoulder for starters. My entree was the chicken curry, and wow was it packed with flavor. It was refreshing to try a different type of curry, it hit the spot. I also had a Laotian draft beer, which was super tasty. Would love to explore the menu more.

My first time trying Laotian food and it was delicious! The decor is beautiful both inside and especially their outdoor seating. Because of the heat we sat indoors but it was still a great vibe. I got the chicken curry which was delicious! It was spicy too which I loved. I also got the iced dalgona coffee which was a good balance of sweet without being too overpowering. It was a great meal and everyone seemed to love their dishes. We did make a reservation as a party of 7 for Sunday dinner but for smaller parties they seemed to have walk in availability.

Visited Laos in Town for lunch! The food was delicious and the service was too. The spring rolls and the guava juice were a 10/10. We went early in the afternoon around 3pm so there wasn’t a wait. Will definitely visit again for dinner.

Food was ok. We had a table of 7 and only half of the dishes were enjoyed. The fish was well done, and the beef. The northern noodle and curry dishes people did not like. The service by Lane was really good! The place was also very nice. There was a bird flying around inside we were nervous would poop in our food.

I think I expected more from the restaurant and food based on the ratings and the number of reviews that it has. The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere with very attentive servers! The food itself was good, made with quality ingredients, but it's nothing mind blowing! 😞 The starters are quite smaller than I imagined given their prices. The disappointment was the mango sticky rice dessert in which the mango was more on the sour side than sweet. But the server did offer to change it when I mentioned it to her.

The decor, the service, the food, everything was amazing. I had the best fried rice I think I’ve ever had (Khua Khao) and the Wok Noodle was equally delicious. The servers were extremely attentive and gave us great suggestions. The only downside is that we’re out of range for delivery to us! Thanks for a great experience!

Had an amazing time here! They always have fabulous gluten free and vegan/vegetarian options, even on their restaurant week menu. Ordered an amazing appetizer, entree and the restaurant week dessert was AMAZING!! Love coming here and can’t wait to come back!!

What a great restaurant! Aesthetic and cozy atmosphere. I ordered mixed mushroom soup and tofu coconut curry; both dishes were amazing. Just the right heat level, temperature and spice, for a chilly December evening. The host was nice. While my server was okay, she seemed like she was just going through the motions. She didn't smile or anything, just kinda there. Reasonably priced. Solid experience overall.

I had Silvia as my server she was amazing. She offered several recommendations that turned out to be great. I love them all and once she got to know my taste, she was able to recommend a few drinks for me that were absolutely delicious. A Friend and I went to loas in town. And we had the pho pia (The spring rolls) And grilled pork shoulder for appetizers for Our main dish we shared the pla tong na ( The crispy rockfish) These were absolutely delicious and the perfect amount for us to share also to finish off with dessert, We tried a few of their freshly made cakes. The coconut one was so good just like Silvia suggested, and to go along with it she made me this amazing coffee drink that you can see in the photo I asked her for her suggestion to have some coffee with my dessert and she was right. I unfortunately cannot remember what this drink was called but You can reference the picture My cocktail in the picture. she also recommended since I like Reposado tequila I was on the edge about it, But she encouraged me to try it, and it was very very good. It was a quiet weekday afternoon not much going on the restaurant is small I can imagine it getting very busy and full quickly in the evenings and weekends. Upon walking in They did ask if we had a reservation like I said the place was empty so we were able to just sit right away even though We didn’t have a reservation But I imagine you may need one on busier days.

My honest opinion. Michelin star restaurant did not deliver. I understand the time we went may have been during a dinner rush, but our server was nowhere to be found, and did not check in on us even once till it was time to pay. It felt like they were trying to get us out as fast as possible, keep in mind our drinks didn’t arrive till almost 10 minutes after our food … and the food literally tasted like it was made hours ago and it was microwaved, not at all fresh, especially the price given the portion! It was highly disappointing and ruined my experience. The only thing good were the drinks which is why I added extra star. Or else I would have given 0 if I could. Not at all recommended, an unassuming Thai restaurant serves better food at way better prices. Save your money.

Went here for lunch last week and the food was good. No reservation was needed but we did go right when they opened. The service was very good and the atmosphere was really modern and cool Got wine two appetizers and two mains with a bottle of wine and the total was around $120 which was not bad for the quality of food. They also had a good wine selection. The calamari was excellent and I would recommend highly. I would definitely return here.

Great service and delicious food! It seems like they may be understaffed during peak hours, but the waitress was doing her best. All the food came correctly and was delicious. The chicken curry (pictured) was my favorite. My friend's crispy chicken rice was yummy as well. For drinks, skip the Fighting Tiger and get The Hummingbird. It's nice, light and refreshing. Docking a star because the first time my friends & I went the waiter introduced himself and then didn't come back to take orders for an hour. We ended up leaving. But I'm glad we gave this spot a second chance!

My server Silvia from Colombia not only provided a very courteous and great service, she also knew her menu very well. I shall definitely come back and ask the restaurant to make sure she is our server. The food was delicious, very clean and cooked just right. So glad we now have a Laotian restaurant in town.

One of my favorite Laotian restaurants in D.C. that has a comfy interior and some delicious food. I highly recommend the Suki, a glass noodle seafood dish, and their Coconut Pandan cake for dessert. They have quite an extensive menu and be warned that some of the food is quite spicy.

Such a cool spot with some incredible food! The inside has serious serious vibes and the patio would be fun if it weren't so hot. Food was so fresh and packed with flavor! The lychee juice and Thai tea were perfect for a hot day, and the calamari was our favorite dish of the day! The chilis and basil with the sauce were heavenly. The sausages were interesting, very herbaceous , and the noodles were simple and fresh. Definitely coming back for more.

We decided to try Laos in town for restaurant week. We went on a Saturday and managed to find on street parking a 5 minute walk away. The weather was super warm so we were glad that we book seats inside however depending on the time of year the outside seating looked tempting. There was a great set of food choices, the restaurant week menu was $40 for three course but the restaurant also has a vegan menu and a standard menu, The costs was reasonable for the a la carte choices on the menu for a restaurant of its reputation. I would gladly go again and I recommend this as a fun venue to try Laotian food in a nice setting.

Highly recommend the grilled chicken hearts! Across the menu, the flavors are powerful, sour, spicy, savory… the whole spectrum. Lots of acidity, lemongrass, fish sauce, and tropical fruit across the menu. Some dishes went a little far on the salt, though. Cocktails were top notch, very interesting.

Arm and Sylvia were the best wait staff ever! Food was absolutely incredible. I hosted out of town guests, and they were blown away. Best meal in DC! We will definitely be back.

Great food, service and atmosphere. Update. Had a second visit that is polar opposite from the first. Review below is for the second visit. Original review was all 5 stars for the Wok Noodles. Latest visit…. Let me start off by saying the staff is fantastic, especially Julia. Now to the food review…. I had come here one previous time while visiting DC and loved it. I happened to be visiting from out of state again so i decided to come by for dinner. Last time I had the Wok Noodle and it was fantastic. That is what made me come back. This trip I got the Northern Noodle. Had this been the first dish I had I would not have come back. The description for the dish was “steamed and crispy noodle, chicken, onion, pickled radishes, cilantro”. The dish is also noted as PHET which is supposed to mean spices. When the dish came out it was covered in so much curry it was basically a soup (please note that there was no mention of soup or curry in the description). The chicken was a single fried drum stick mostly sunken in to the “curry soup”. The only flavor you got was yellow curry and there was so much liquid it difficult to eat the fried drum stick (which was soggy due to the amount of liquid). I ate about 1/3 of the Northern Noodle soup and just could stand it anymore. Decided to order a slice of the good looking strawberry cheese cake I saw when going to my seat. Ugh, disappointment strikes again. While the cheese cake had flavor, the strawberry sauce on top tasted canned and had set up like it might have had a little gelatin in it. The cheese cake might have had gelatin too as the consistency was close to a no-bake jello cheese cake. Maybe I’m being harsh on the desert because of the huge disappointment of the main meal. Will I try Laos again, maybe if I lived near by. As a visitor from out of town I might (if staying near by), but not likely as there are so many other options in DC. Now I’m off to find a snack somewhere as I am leaving still hungry.

Nice interior but the food is ok. Fried rice with over salted sausages was horrible. Papaya salad was ok. The best dish was noodles with shrimps. Overall, nothing special. I felt like I was dining in a buffet:(

Atmosphere is outstanding and keeps your guessing. Fast service and food is amazing tasting and large portions. I enjoyed being close to people again. Apps were large enough to share with the table. Mains were large enough for the “meat & potatoes” members of my group. First time in DC in 25+ years. Makes me want to come back again.

Love this restaurant - my go to for flavourful Laotian food. The crispy rice salad, and beef jerky are go to’s for apps and we love the crispy chicken. Also a big fan of the interior decor - bright and inviting.

A nice dining experience. We enjoyed the mango salad and Calamari as appetizers. The fish was good but a little dry to our liking. The chicken had all the nice flavors but could have been a bit spicy. Overall a nice experience. It would be nice if the water bottle could be refilled without asking for it every time.

They have a vegan menu! I had the chive cakes, mango salad, and tofu curry. Everything was so good and affordable. My curry didn’t come with eggplant but it was still amazing. I can’t wait to go back.

Great authentic Lao/Thai food - issan style! Larb was great - only it could have had a bit more spice/heat for my liking. The herbal sausage was very good. The sun dried beef was excellent. Great cocktails as well. I would definitely return.

One of my favorite restaurants in the district. Not a miss on this menu. We love the big portions to share. The flavors are just incredible. We absolutely loved the tofu with the perfect onions and scallions to accompany. The tofu curry was incredible as well. Perfect for big parties or even just a nice couple date. We come here to feast without any leftovers. Much love to the staff, always incredible. Thank you. Also, plenty of vegan options for the vegans and vegetarians or…flexitarians.

We are actually regulars at this restaurant because it is that good! The food never disappoints, and there’s so much to choose from on the menu. I’ve tried almost everything and nothing has disappointed yet however, most recently we visited and had a server name Andrea and she was fantastic. A real sweetheart, that turned our regular dinner spot, a hidden gem, into a pleasant experience.
