Our server was awesome, she did a great job in a busy, loud, and crowded environment. Our food was pretty good, they had a large variety on their menu. 3 of us had the Chef salad, one had an omelet with taters. I wish they had more daily soup choices available as they had only one so I opted out. I looked around at many other of the diners meals and it all looks yummy! Down side too is the narrow stairs and tight entryway and dealt with a rude customer. Definitely not ADA friendly. Long line and seating wait time. I have had a taste of that huuuuge cinnamon roll years ago. If it is still the same it's worth the affordable $8.50.

Went on a Tuesday morning so there was no wait and fast service. I got the smoked salmon eggs benedict and will probably not need to eat the rest of the day. It was delicious, and a huge serving, so I have left overs for dinner. The staff was wonderful so I would highly recommend this place.

What a great place for a meal. Maltby Cafe has been hear for decades. Located in Maltby, oddly enough, directly under the Maltby gym circa 1937. This place offers one of the best food to value ratios around. Example, I ordered a cinnamon roll and it literally covers the plate. Great food at a good price. If you go be ready to wait on the weekends. It gets busy but worth every minute of the wait. Off highway 522 to Monroe. Just go.

The food is delicious. The drinks are flavorful. The staff was excellent and helpful. The place was packed elbow to elbow. We had to wait for 10 minutes to be seated. Positive atmosphere. Definitely worth the drive from Arlington! We will be back very soon! Thank you!

Was taken here by my friends who live here and …wow!! You could smell the cinnamon rolls from the parking lot. Their bread is so soft and heavenly and everything we had was delicious. Had the breakfast sandwich and wow was it full of flavor. Couldn’t even finish it. And the staff is so kind and courteous. Definitely check them out when you’re in town!!

Incredible historic cafe!! The cafe is located under the school house gymnasium, so you can’t actually see it. There is a bit of a wait due to its mass popularity in town. If you can take the time, you’re for a great treat. BACON WAS AMAZING. Can’t wait to go back!!

Great local breakfast spot for friends and family. The cinnamon rolls and biscuits are made there and they are delicious. The scrambles and omelettes are also great! There is usually a wait, but it's well worth it. Great spot!

Maltby's has been on my list to try for a long time. The bacon was delicious. Swedish Pancakes were okay. Everything else overall was either lacking flavor or tasted artifical. The food looked delicious but was underwhelming. The cinnamon roll had that artificial taste to it. The gravy did as well. The potatoes were supposed to be crispy, but were mushy. They still tasted somewhat okay. There are odd gift shops next door and a fun antique shop to visit as well. Plenty of parking.

Absolutely delicious! My husband and I couldn’t decide what to get, there were hundreds of options for breakfast and lunch! I ended up getting their fruit filled Maltby pancakes and I have zero regrets! The service was wonderful and the building was clean, organized and comfortable. Thank you for the wonderful brunch!

The service was excellent. I went expecting a long wait and was seated immediately! That was at 9:00 a.m. on a Sunday. By 11:00 a.m. everything was full and there were people waiting. My server. Let me know that it was unusual for me to be seated so quickly. I had the chicken fried steak and my companion had the country eggs Benedict. She is a chef, she thought that her eggs Benedict was wonderful. My chicken fried steak was not what I expected, it was an actual steak. The gravy was not sausage gravy, it was more of a bacon style gravy. If those are flavors that you really enjoy, there was more than enough on the plate to fill up! The bloody Mary was spicy and delicious in my opinion. Worth every penny. Again, I cannot over state how friendly the staff was. Our server was excellent. I offered him a job!

Another hidden gem! Breakfast was perfect. We had country fried steak, Swedish pancakes & biscuits & gravy. We did bring home famous cinnamon roll for breakfast the next day 1 was enough for 4 of us. The only downside is that there is limited seating, and the place fills up quickly! When it's full the tables are a little close together so there is a little navigation required. All in all, I would go here again. There are several dishes that were served around us I would definitely try... Swedish pancakes with fruit & the eggs Benedict looked like a magazine photograph.

Took family visiting me here for lunch, about 1pm on a Sunday. By then, even though it was a busy weekend day, we got seated in about 5 minutes! Everyone loved it. The giant cinnamon roll was certainly big enough even for the six of us, the chicken fried steak was extra flavorful, the biscuits just the right amount of buttery! Great place to have taken everyone for a local treat.

Service portion of review: We ordered a pancake breakfast with two sausage links and two eggs, an extra order of sausage, a cookie bar & a blueberry scone, all to-go. The wait time was only maybe 2-3mins than they said. :) When I got to my car, the only thing in my bag was the pancake breakfast. I went back in and waited to talk to the the host, who apologized and showed me where to grab a cookie bar and he went and got my scone. Then I got to the car again and realized we weren't given any plastic forks, knife, spoon or napkins. Since we were planning to picnic at the nearby park, this was a problem. I went back in again and again waited to talk to the host, who showed me where to get the plasticware :) It was a weekday morning during summer break, and they were pretty busy ofcourse...Everybody seems to be constantly low staffed.(which maybe they were, idk). Just trying to be understanding about how my order pick up went. Now for the food portion of review: Pancake breakfast looked absolutely fabulous! The sausages were good. The eggs I had ordered medium were a little under medium and had some tiny bits of green, which I found unappetizing since we didn't order anything green (the random bits of green are another reason I wonder if they might be understaffed for how busy they were). I was thankful we don't have any herb allergies and that the bits were few and easy to wipe away. The pancakes were surprisingly...bad :/ They were strangely flavored and textured. Not like any pancake I've ever had at anytime in my 43 years of life and I won't be ordering them again. The best way I can explain it is something was "off". They almost tasted unsafe to eat, it was weird. We had to force ourselves to try and finish them but ended up throwing away most of one pancake. This pancake breakfast was $14 and for the amount of food, if the pancakes had been good, I would say this is a good value for a nice breakfast, but they were definitely not. Sad to say. I'm not sure what happened but as I'm not a regular and just went there trying to vary my support for a local small business, I did my part and will now stick with getting pancakes from my regular local small business pancake spot, or even take my kids to McDonald's for better pancakes for that matter, but hopefully I just went on an off day and nobody else will experience that kind of culinary wierdness. The blueberry scone was huge and it's container included both strawberry jam & 2 pads of butter :) We ended up using 1 butter pads on the pancakes (which came with no butter). We all thought this scone was very good! Full of berries and the "condiments" of sorts would have been plenty, had our pancakes come with their own butter. The cookie bar was good and one of my boys really enjoyed that. :) The amounts of food were generous, as I have always heard and the pastries were good, so if I lived very close and liked to go out often, I'm sure I'd give them another chance, especially with their reputation. That said, like I already mentioned, I have a preferred breakfast spot. Caution: If you are looking for the best value, make sure to avoid ordering sides like for example, I ordered a side of sausage and for that one sausage patty, it was $6 (close to half the price of another pancake breakfast). So it's better to just order another meal that includes sausage (maybe french toast or something,) and save the excess, unless leftovers are a problem for you.

I always love visiting this place! A wonderful breakfast nook, but I recommend either arriving early or ordering take out because it can get packed there very quickly! The service is always fantastic and super fast. Definitely pick up a classic mega cinnamon roll when you stop by!

I love this place! I grew up nearby and went often as a kid. Unfortunately, I'm not so close by these days, but I go whenever opportunity allows. The food is amazing! The service is very fast for how busy they are. The space is tight, loud and always hot, but the food makes up for it.

First time at this place, and let me just say... amazing! The food portions are huge, and the cinnamon rolls is literally like a small cake. Good food, family friendly, and huge portions well worth the price.

If you’re looking for a new breakfast place to try, the Maltby Café is definitely a must. It’s a small café located in the basement of a house like building. Don’t let the basement put you off, the interior is very quaint. The atmosphere is warm and ventilation is very adequate. The Wait Staff is smilingly friendly, efficient and attentive. I had Steak and Eggs and it was excellent. My New York steak was grilled to perfection, and my eggs were poached perfectly. This is a must try destination.

I’ve been dying to try this place for years like literally for years but I never got a chance since it’s far from Seattle and never good timing when I’m in the area. People rave about this place! We were visiting friends from Monroe so we decided to get take out. I’m a fan of biscuits and gravy they are my go to for breakfast. Homemade biscuits with Massive gravy smothered all over. They needed more gravy. I was disappointed the gravy had zero flavor it was strange. Maybe the sausage didn’t have much flavor and I had to add to salt to even get a remote good taste. The sausage patty wasn’t good either so maybe that explains the gravy. Everyone else enjoyed their meals and my friends still say it’s their favorite spot to go too so I’ll give them 4 stars. Their cinnamon rolls are huge so make sure you share with the whole family. This was really good too!

I was hesitant about this place - worried it was going to be overrated and more of a nostalgic place for locals. Glad I was wrong ! We got here at 9:00 and put our name on this list- pleasantly surprised that we were called to the table 5 minutes later! This place is packed ! Service was slow at first but we didn’t mind- we were enjoying ourselves. Our server was awesome. My iced white chocolate mocha was super yummy. On the sweeter side. I got the Swedish pancakes with fruit and creme fraiche, and while so good, also so BIG. Couldn’t finish half of it even. I don’t have any complaints and would come back again.

This place is always PACKED with people & the reason why the FOOD! Well worth the wait. This is my 3rd time here & this place never disappoints me! It’s a little bit out of the way but worth the drive!

I didn't see an ADA entrance (hence the 4 stars) but I may be wrong since I didn't check the entire building. Buy all in all the food was wonderful, service was perfect, and drinks were quenching. It was a really hot day as well as busy but we were served quickly. I'd go again if I'm ever in the area
