The only piano bar with live music I am aware of in Bucharest. In my opinion it is a hidden gem, known by a circle of great people with various backgrounds, but with a common passion for live music performances in a cosy atmosphere, staged both by singers and bands associated for a long time with the place or by invited talented voices, performing occasionally, maybe one or two times for a few weekends, while visiting Bucharest, most of them Romanian singers residing currently in many places in Europe. Under the first category, the most notable presence is the band of Bulgarian artists, playing guitar and piano and being also vocal performers. They were in fact also the owners of the place before the Covid-19 pandemic, then the bar was closed and it has only reopened in the summer of 2023, under new and ambitious management, that has an interest in attracting top singers and is investing a lot in marketing the place and using it as a venue for shooting video material of promising young artists. Two final things I have to mention for this first review: ☑️ The place is great for people who also enjoy dancing, and although the dance floor close to the piano, surrounded by high chairs and counters lined up along the walls is not very large, accommodating without overcrowding at the most 16 to 20 people dancing at the same time. And in spite of the small size of the place, when the band plays all times golden hits of various genres, most frequent rock'n roll, disco, pop, slow rock, Romanian pop music, usually from the 60's, 70's and 80's, but sometime also 90's or more recent, the dancefloor gets very lively and patrons of the pub of all ages enjoy loosening up and dancing with passion and unleashed energy. ☑️ The last time I was there, I have noticed a new face, i.e. George, attending clients at the bar, but offering also great pieces of bartenders' mixing and shaking acrobatics and using his lips, teeth and nose to deliver cocktail glasses in a spectacular manner.

Check your bill before paying! good music, good service but tips are being added without asking. Brought the rating down from a 5 to a 1. When I checked my payments after a couple of rounds, I noticed 10%-15% tips being added to my last 3 payments without asking and they didn’t show the screen of the machine just pointing the tapping part towards you so I didn’t notice the amount was higher than the actual bill. You can’t charge people tips without asking, SPECIALLY when you claim you’re a luxury venue with focus on service. We had a great time and wanted to make this place our regular spot but I don’t like being taken advantage of just because I’m kind and tipped. + gets very smoky caz most people smoke in there, so if you’re not a smoker be warned. (fyi I was there last weekend)

I suspect that the 100 leu is then split between the bar and the bar girl. The clear objective being to part you and as much of your cash as possible as quickly as possible. The pressure to purchase such ludicrously expensive drinks for the bar girl made me feel very uncomfortable. Consequently, I finished my drink and left. Needless to say I will not be returning. If, like me, you would feel uncomfortable by being pressured to buy very expensive drinks for bar girls or you don't have loads of money you are happy to part with, then I would avoid this place like the plague.

This review is for the Jack's on Enescu street, as there are other locations as well. This is a somewhat unusual bar. It is very small, maybe 100sq m total. There is a certain clientele, usually not very young. A lot of expats. There is something about the place that encourages people to talk to one another, to mingle and have fun. There always is live music, a piano, guitar and base, and the players encourage people to come in and sing, or play the piano, or guitars. And people do, quite often. When the live music starts, usually at around 11pm, people might dance as well. As it is usually with bars like this, there are locals, who seem to always be there :-). Feels a bit like the show "Cheers". Drinks are a bit pricey, but not too pricey. A different kind of bar, in Bucharest, I'd say give it a try see if you like it.
