When I arrived, I realized that the airport has only one carousel, and people stood all around it, which made it very difficult to see my luggage. I waited for about one hour before I saw my luggage. It was very hot, and the air conditioning was switched on briefly. Guinea-Bissau needs a larger and better airport.
Airport Guide: There is no Money exchange or Shop/Sim-Card on Arrival. Strongly recommend to organize a driver before and pay him with Euros/USD. Most hotels offer this service. Arrival is very easy there 3 officers who will just stamp your passport and directly after that you collect your Luggage + go through a quick scan - no money asked or papers to fill. ----- If you are departing from OXB Airport the process is slightly different. First some officers will check your bag by hand and ask for "a breakfast". Then you will check-in which was very friendly. After that you continue to Migration and you passport will be stamped. Behind that one security-lane with XRAY is present ... They don't care if you take water with you tho. At the Gate the toilets are broken so you cannot properly close the door. One small shop is at the gate - where some drink options and freshly made cheese-sandwiches are served at a fairly cheap price. Yea that's it.
Don't pay bribes to either the immigration or security people. Just say no and stand there. They'll eventually give up their corrupt attempt and let you through. If you feel guilty there are many worthy NGOs to donate money to in Guinea-Bissau.
Typical African airport. Pray they don't bully you, pray they don't feel like picking on you for whatever stupid reason, pray your luggage reaches you, don't expect aircon or too much cleanliness and pretend you don't see them burning a hole through you with their eyes. Also, they make you wait under the sun for a bus which obviously takes only so many people at once, for a distance you could perfectly walk (see photo and vídeo) and get it over with. Exhausting... Also they always try to get money. Don't pay no corruption yall. Eventually they get tired of waiting and stalling you and they let you through.
Very simple to locate from the town. A small airport compared to most airports in West Africa. I was even allowed into the airport to welcome my friend.
Basic airport easy to access. Taxis are waiting outside normally you shouldn't pay more than 5000 cfa to the center. We were charge 15000 cfa so beware of this. Staff are good and they didn't hassle me for anything. One improvement would be to have the immigration forms in English too.
Not the most comfortable or modern airport in the world but also not the worst I've seen. Pro tip: make sure to check ahead of time if your flight is cancelled or not - I showed up at the airport just to find it pitch black and closed for the day, having not had any communications that my flight had been cancelled. Had no problem with immigration on both the way in and out. There is a single cafe in the waiting area at the gate that serves decent coffee, croissants and soft drinks. Taxis seem pretty hard to find outside the airport, so I'd definitely recommend arranging your transportation into Bissau ahead of time, especially if you land at night.
This small AirPort with one gate has a small duty free shop with alcohol and a gift shop with local carts. The one cafe offers bottled and Cannes chilled water, Coca-Cola ® products, and one kind of beer. No food. Our group had a challenging experience here. They refused to allow one of our group through security with a small wood en bowl. At inmigration, several of our group we're asked for money. The guard Quadè refused to let me through final bag security without playing money. No toilet paper or soap in restrooms Several wheelchairs chairs available
