The Fowler is a gem of a museum. Admission is free. Exhibitions change regularly and are always interesting. Be sure to see the permanent spectacular sterling silver collection. There's also a museum shop.

Seeing "The Art of African Blacksmiths" exhibit was an awakening for me. It seems they've been forging steel for longer than the rest of the planet by hand. The designs and attention to detail is striking. Tools, weapons, chastity devices, neck and waist adornments, headgear - it's quite humbling. Everything is beautifully displayed and there are videos showing the Blacksmiths meticulously crafting some of what's on display. Educational for all ages.

One of the curators at this museum is extremely racist, and posts incendiary and hateful comments on Twitter regarding South Asians and Indians. Her name is Syona Puliady. I will never bring my students or children here ever again. Shame on UCLA for hiring such abhorrent and hateful people.

Such an interesting and inspiring museum. Located in the heart of UCLA's campus. The current temporary exhibit on HIV puts a face and compassion to this disease. A definite must see. There are also great exhibits of foreign and local artist. This is a local jewel!

I went to Follwler Fit for a free mobility&strength workout. Absolutely amazing place for light activity and the coach was fantastic! They even provided mats and water free of charge. Parking is $4/h and right next to the place.

Small but excellent museum focused on tribal and connected arts plus relevant institutional and theoretical matters. Strong showings in the galleries for Papua New Guinea, Nigeria, Benin, Indonesia and first peoples.

In the heart of UCLA you will find one the best museum in LA. Remember to check and visit The Fowler Museum often. Highly recommended.

Free entry museum, looks small but it has whole very very developed exhibitions. It is clear that a lot of work was put in every single thing. The staff is nice, and it is usually pretty empty, so spend an hour with my son and explain about colors

Visiting on August 8 2021. Worth visiting if you are around the university or interesting in museums in general. Free admission. There is a great museum store too with many interesting authentic objects you won't find anywhere else. I think, around 40 minutes enough for the visit.

A wonderful museum with very interesting display, educational, respectful, self-aware. The UCLA campus is lucky to have this great institution. This museum is free. Parking is underground, not far, on campus. On Wednesdays, the museum is open until 8pm.

Excellent museum. Their dinosaur exhibit is really extensive and diverse. If you like birds, they have a really retro, old school exhibit, filled with hundreds of taxidermic birds. Make sure to go to the bottom floor for the "kids" section. It was really cool and had live animals and insects to check out. CA teachers get in free with a pay stub or staff ID.

It's a small and very well curated museum in the center of UCLA, with better exhibitions than suggested by its unassuming looks.

Art that goes beyond ‘art’ Mankind’s multitude of expressions via textiles, ceramics, objects, tools, etc. connects us to our essential being via the material world we’ve lived in and still do. Go because it speaks to all of us in ancient ways. You will feel it when you visit. Parking at university rates. But free admission

Parking isn’t the easiest, especially if you are walking impaired. Exhibits are very interesting, but the staff isn’t very well informed as to what is happening in the museum. I missed a guided talk, because two staff I spoke to said nothing was happening today

Our school Angeles Workshop School takes a field trip every week, and our experience at the Fowler was both profound and enriching. Our middle and high school students were very engaged by the anthropological exhibits that showed both traditional cultural elements and relevant, present-day arts.

An absolute pleasure for a short visit. Free (except for parking), well maintained and nice family friendly museum. Insider tip: We go on sundays when they usually have arts and crafts for younger kids.

A free cultural museum in UCLA. There are different sections/rooms with different themes. Depending on your interest, it can take between 1-2 hours to explore the museum.

There is art here that will please individuals with all different types of artistic preferences. My favorites were the Jeff Koons, Andy Warhol, and Yayoi Kusama exhibits. The shadow art by Kara Walker was also a favorite.

Absolutely stunning garden, it is huge and takes like 2 hours to fully walk around and admire the different agriculture the diverse Los Angeles weather can provide. There is a Golden Gate Pass that is $25 for all three attractions, Tea Garden, Botanical Garden, and Conservatory of Flower. Gorgeous weather and very friendly staff. Clean walkways and a nice way to connect with nature.

Had an amazing time with my boyfriend!! Loved the interactive light show, and I highly recommend to request Chance as your photographer during your visit. He got back to me with edited photos within 2 days, and now I have insta worthy trophies

There are gems here. I found a silver Greek Orthodox Picture of the Virgin Mary with her baby JC. Also, there is a Janak Armenian exhibit that has traditional knitted dollies from the last turn of the century from an Armenian refugee.

Nice space and handicap accessible. Some of us liked that some displays of masks, carvings, etc. were arranged by visual similarities while others in our group would have preferred they were more traditionally arranged, say by culture and century, or purpose. Parking is available in the large subterranean lot entered from north Westwood Plaza off Sunset. Pay at the self service kiosk if it is working.

Great little museum on the UCLA campus with interesting exhibitions. The place is easy to visit (everything is on the ground floor) and free. Some choice pieces on display and exhibitions are nicely curated.

Admission is free! Highly reccomend this place as it does an amazing job of elevating artwork cross sectionally. If you are interested in art from African nations you have got to take the time to visit. Opens at 12pm. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

This is place is an awesome place to go to on a Thursday night with friends, dates, even on your own if you want. I've gone to this event 2 times now (I'll check in next time to verify that) and all of it has their own unique theme. The first time I went was about time and they had lectures, activities and even the music was related to the theme (every hour they played a new decade like the 50s, 60s, 70s, etc.). The 2nd time I went was about habitat and how different animals rely on each other to survive. All in all an awesome place to go to.

Beautiful campus but the museum wasn't very interesting especially for kids. The gift shop in the museum was more fun than the museum itself since they had things that were hand made from all over the world

I don’t give it 5 stars only because: I’m not sure it’s worth going out of your way to visit and it is a painfully small museum when one or more exhibit spaces is not open (as two were not when we drove an hour to visit). The permanent exhibit reminds me of a smaller version of the superb Musée du quai Branly in Paris. Now if you’re already on UCLA’s campus, you should visit if for no other reason than it’s free and cultural. Always good to learn without having to pay to do so! Also, a good gift shop that would be excellent for when you need to shop for people that appreciate other cultures.

Great fun for the family. Very helpful and considerate staff. They will help take pictures for you on your own phone. Try to go when there are few people for the most comfortable experience. We went in the morning on a Tuesday and had free run of the place, which was fantastic.

One of my favorite all time places. Largest specimen collection in the world and world class research on reefs, biodiversity, global warming. All in a world class facility with natural history, aquarium, rain forest, planetarium and more. Love it!

This museum is the stuff of dreams. The permanent collection is stunning and varied and so thought-provoking and impressive. Kara Walker's work is always a powerful highlight.

There is a lot of stuff to checks out here, very cool science museum and of course lots of stuff to learn. Just like the other museum but they combined together between the forest, rainforest and the aquarium

Save some time and reserve your tickets ahead of time via their website. It's free and way more convenient than having to wait in their stand-by line. However, if you're in LA and planning a spontaneous trip here, they do have a stand-by line but the wait could be from minutes to hours depending on how busy they are.

I like history so this place is nice! They have rotating exhibits so they keep it fresh. They also use multimedia within the museum so there's videos, pictures, and interactive displays. Admission is free but they are closed on certain days of the week so check beforehand

I took my students from our Summer Camp to the Guatemalan Mask exhibition and the African Video exhibition we sketched, drew and painted back at the shop. We went in the week so we were the only students there it was a wonderful trip and now the students have created their own masks and they hang in our shop. A great learning experience. One of my favorites is the Fowler!
