The Segovia aqueduct captures water from the Frío River in the Acebeda valley, kilometers southeast of the town of Revenga. The Weir, 1260 meters above sea level, diverts the water from the river towards a sand decanter which, once its function has been fulfilled, pours the water into the Hontoria basin. The aqueduct will reach the city of Segovia at 1002 meters above sea level. This difference in heights makes the water move forward.

Hello, as a family we have done this very accessible hiking route to the beginning of the Segovia aqueduct, a symbol of Roman social architecture. The path is very easy, at first it is a path and then it turns into a path between a forest of holm oaks, oaks and pines, with impressive visits to the Poton Alto reservoir, the Dead Woman and a large part of the Sierra. For all those who want to know, Azud is a barrier made in rivers in order to facilitate the diversion of part of the flow for irrigation and other uses. It is located about 10 km in a straight line from the highest part of the aqueduct in the Plaza del Azoguejo. The difference in level from the beginning to said square is about 240 mtr. The actual total route due to the sinuosity of the terrain is about 15.5 km. It is mainly made up of: The catchment, the weir, the decanter and the manholes. The path is well marked with milestones. Enjoy and......greetings!!!!!

The place is very interesting and the route from Revenga is beautiful. You have to be careful not to get lost going into the ditch.

A small paradise in the mountains of Valsaín. The water and the pines are the protagonists of this beautiful place. A place worth a visit.

Ruta muy guay saliendo desde Valsain, aunque el agua del río un poco fría para bañarse desnudo...se te queda el cacharro en la mínima expresión...ocasionando las risas de senderistas y diversos paseantes que pasan por allí...

One of the must see places in Spain. It brings people back to a long journey back in time. It’s such an architectural wonder. I’ll go back to Segovia with family and friends.

(Translated by Google) Good place to stop along the route and, in addition to seeing a historical curiosity, be able to soak your feet and snack on something while. (Original) Buen sitio para hacer un alto en la ruta y además de ver una curiosidad historica poder meter los pies en remojo y picar algo mientras.
