Steinbeck Plaza is right in the heart of historic Cannery Row in Monterey CA. This area is very lively. There is live music being played almost always and on days there's no live music, music still plays in the plaza. From the Plaza you can lookout over the Pacific Ocean and there's even coin operated telescopes so if you want to really look out there, you can. The Plaza has a huge fountain in the middle with statues of Steinbeck and other important people that were around back in the day. There is also beach access from the Steinbeck plaza and you can go right down to the beach and find seashells or get your feet wet. And if you're hungry, the Fish Hopper restaurant is always a wise choice.

The food was delicious! The scenery was gorgeous! And there was a lot to look at, although I live in California I felt like a tourist 😄

Very well entertaining place. For adults and kids. From shopping to kids adventures to diversity of food to try or dessert to enjoy. Little hidden spot to play into the water. Is a little beach spot behind of the Ghirardelli building. Great playground for the kids.

I liked it. Simple, great view over the water, a bronze bust of Steinbeck and a very interesting fountain of "Doc", Steinbeck, and the other people close to them.

Super cool public plaza in the heart of Cannery Row in Monterey. A great place to walk around and take in the sights and sounds of the old fisherman's life of the Monterey Peninsula...and very festive during Christmas time. Scenic ocean views, especially at sunset, with plenty of stores and restaurants to buy memorabilia or grab a bite to eat.

Such a fun little plaza with some sort of small strip mall filled with candy shops, arcades, donuts and more!

Steinbeck Plaza it's such a quaint warm and inviting place to hang around observe some beautiful views of the ocean snack on delectable desserts and people watch. It's namesake John Steinbeck is celebrated with a beautiful bronze statue and a history of his connection to the Monterey peninsula. Everyone knows him as one of the great authors who was known for telling stories of the Old Monterey Bay fishing community. He is definitely celebrated all throughout the Monterey Bay Peninsula. So many beautiful colors all around you from the sparkling Emerald Pacific Ocean to the colorful buildings along the bay and the Beautiful art galleries around. A great place to stop for a quick bite to eat before heading into the Monterey Bay Aquarium or just strolling along the different shops. Lot of great photo opportunities all around you. It gets really busy on the weekend so expect some big crowds I love coming on a weekday where I can enjoy my own peaceful time to relax do some people watching and stare out into the ocean. Don't be afraid to explore there are so many little hidden Corners with Alleyways leading to the ocean giving you beautiful views.

Great area to visit. Cannery Row, Monterey, Cal. John Steinbeck monument. Tons of shops and restaurants in this area of Monterey. Also, the Monterey Aquarium is walking distance. Find street parking, or use the parking garage. You will want to hang out and explore beautiful Monterey and nearby Carmel

Ghirardelli's Ice Cream shop on Cannery Row.. For the majority, it might not matter, however everybody remembers the glass goblets that you would eat your hot fudge sundae in, and in my opinion, that's what made the experience, beyond the fudge and ice cream... Unfortunately they are still using plastic cups for sundaes.. Thanks COVID-19.😶

Baklava to die for! So many other treats to delight! Guys behind the counter were just fabulous, giving us samples with our coffee. So nice and attentive. Don't skip this place!

We had hot fudge sundaes at Ghirardelli. The service was excellent the atmosphere outstanding, but the prices were very high. If you are okay with paying $16.95 for a hot fudge Sunday then go and you'll have a great time.

Nice as it can get, in a mask (appreciated the major effort Monterey is making in the war called CoVid19) Food was Ah-mazing! Shops were nice, loved a lot of the artsy kitschy stores .

Many shops and restaurants line the walk and street. The views of the bay are outstanding and the many sculptures are worth seeing. Be sure to try fresh sardines from one of the seafood places along the way. My kids loved this area and the aquarium.
