OMG was this place great! I came to Fresno for work and needed a quick place to eat and came across this restaurant. Ratings were great so I thought why not, and I'm so glad I did! The chicken katsu plate was so delicious! Its pricey but you get sooooo much for it! The was the katsu, plus rice, plus and tempura with it! And a drink! It was so much food and soooo good! Even the leftovers were good! I wish they had more locations because I am obessed!

My husband and I visited Kenji's for the first time today. We chose the grilled shrimp plate and the teriyaki chicken plate. Both plates had generous portions that came with tempura vegetables and rice. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The shrimp was tender and cooked perfectly with a nice subtle teriyaki flavor. The tempura vegetables were thick and fresh with a nice bite and texture. The employees were helpful and eager to please their customers. One employee disinfected the counters between customers, which was nice to see. Maks are required for entry and hand sanitizer is available just inside the front door. Phone in orders are welcome and tables and chairs are available outside as well as seating inside. We enjoyed a tasty and memorable meal and plan on returning soon! Thank you, Kenji's!

Amazing food, well worth the price the tempura is fantastic especially the sweet potatoes. I'm serious as a heart attack, I cried when I ate the last bite because it was gone.

Honestly, it's a great place to get fast Japanese style food. The food tasted great as well, and the service was great, and the atmosphere was nice and homing. We ordered the chicken katsu and it was great! The crunch was there, and the sauce was delicious. The tempura veggies were dead on. The beef bowl that I got was great as well and tasted great! Wasn't burnt or tasted funny. The only thing I probably didn't ask was if I could have exchanged the tempura veggies with something else... maybe I didn't know, but that would be the only complaint I have, other than that it's a great place to eat!

I'm from the Bay Area. I've never had Teriyaki cooked this way. Now it's one of my favorite spots to eat at. I recommend it!

I try and get a salad every time I come here because the portion is huge! I mean like there is no way to finish the whole thing, it’s very simple I get the mixed chicken salad and it come with an orange sauce but always get a little of the spicy to go. My partner gets the tempura fried chicken/veggies and he loves the portions. Menu is simple and not overly complicated which is 10/10 in my book so what they do, they do well and fast with good portions.

While a good line was waiting when we got there, it moved pretty steady once we were inside, but as soon as they were slow no one attempted to clean dirty tables or situate chairs and we had to wipe ours down with a wet napkin before sitting. The lady who took our order, although friendly, took way too much time socializing with each customer to realize the hold up she was creating in the line. BUT the food was excellent!

1st time there, it far exceed my expectations. The meat and chicken was tender, tempura was really good. The portions were more then plenty, the sauces were good. I am now a fan of Kenji's, coming back.

Such good Japanese take out! This was my first time here, and I loved it! Large portions. Cooked to order. Tempura was fantastic. Go try this place out for yourself! ❤️

It’s been a week or two since my wife and I ate here after shopping at Smart and final. My most salient memory is that the portion sizes were significant, more than either of us could eat that one sitting. Unfortunately, the food didn’t leave any significant impression. If my wife and I return in the future we would just order one meal and split it.

The service was mediocre, most of the employees didn’t even look happy and the lady who took my order was very rude when I asked about an item on the menu. Today was my first and last time here. The food was absolutely tasteless. No flavor at all. $30 down the drain 🤦🏾‍♂️. If you like food with no flavor, then this is your place, but I’m a flavor guy and this just didn’t do it for me personally.

Everything here is good! I come for my lunch break often and the food is always hot, fresh, and super tasty with all the sauce options they offer. Definitely one, if not, the best place in Fresno to get teriyaki bowls/plates!

A ton of yummy food for a great price! $10 for a bowl that could easily feed 2. Service was fast and friendly despite the busy lunch rush. We stopped off on our way to Yosemite looking for something that wasn’t McDonald’s, and I’m stoked that we chose Kenji’s. We will definitely be back next time we’re passing through Fresno.

I've eaten here three times.... I won't anymore, though. I went Saturday around 4 & the cashier was rude af. Unnecessarily and obnoxiously snotty. The server was nice and respectful and he made sure we had our complete order and was cool. Then.... There's a damn hair in our food. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I really enjoy this place. Its simple and easy to order. Prices are great for the portions served. The katsu chicken is the best. Always Spicy sauces! Usually there dining area is clean and employees seem happy.

Finally stopped here with the hubby for some dinner. We each ordered the katsu chicken which was really freaking good. I've been trying chicken at different teriyaki places in town and it is always dry. Not here! Chicken is juicy and crispy. The teriyaki sauce has a smoky undertone almost like BBQ. I don't believe it's katsu sauce but I didn't think to ask if they had any. Also ordered some of the spicy mayo. My husband didn't like it but I think the aoili is fire when mixed with the teriyaki sauce! They subbed steamed veggies for me which was great. I just regret not getting a side order of vegetable tempura. It looked really good and crispy and my husband refused to share. Customer service was great here. This location was extremely busy at dinner time and I was surprised the amount of people getting their orders expedited while we were there.
