Tub bus#50 goes from Braga to Monastery. It takes 20 to 30 min by bus. I would highly recommend to time the bus and your visit because on weekend the bus goes once in 2.5 hours. Monastery is free on Sundays for Portugal residence. Very secluded. Nice gardens. Nice golden church. However it was not extraordinary special for me. If you skip it you won't miss much.

Visiting the monastery has been an unique experience for us. Never before have we been able to stroll through a monastery so freely. Surprisingly, there were no attendants nor other visitors ( visited in Oktober). As a result, we could admire the buildings, rooms, furniture, old agricultural tools and the old church organ without interruption. There is a lot to see here. The monastery and its surrounding area is huge. Using the supplied map it was easy to visit all the rooms and gardens and read about the history and use of the place.

Definitely the most beautiful Monastery I've been to (and I've been to a few). Definitely worth doing thw listening tour, was very informative and there was always something available to listen to. In total took about 3hours for us to tour the entire grounds, but it definitely worth it. The safe was so friendly and nice, and the atmosphere was amazing and beautiful as it was rich with so much history... Do ensure that you visit the beautiful lake on the grounds before leaving. Definitely a must see when in Portugal.

Lovely monastery of São Martinho de Tibaes. It's huge with a lot of exsebition and outside area as well. Most of the monastery is renovate in proprietary way. There are green and red path for outside walk. The green one is around 50 minutes and the red one around 1:40 minutes. It's worthy to go and see the lovely nature for both pat's. There are smaller stairs similar to Bon Jesus but still unique and one of the kind. Beautiful lake, orange 🍊 trees and grapes all around the borders. If the weather is nice, you can spend more than a half day.

It is surely an extraordinary and obligatory stop to visit while in Braga. The visit exceeded all our expectations. We have been amazed with how the monastery has been rebuilt from the complete ruins. Not only the walls and decorations have been restored, but the atmosphere itself, so that while walking along its quiet long corridors, looking at lovingly restored cells and beautiful chapel, you can almost tangibly feel the presence of the long gone monks. The gardens of the monastery are full of fruits, herbs and different scents that create a really nice atmosphere. If you are a local or part of a volunteering association and bring proof, the ticket is free. Also, the employees there are friendly and helpful with anything you need. Please do not miss this place when in Braga!

A magnificent treasure. A sublime surprise that keeps on delivering wonder after wonder. A breathtaking location that offers a window into monastic life. Each detail is lovingly crafted, and the restoration is perfect. If you see anything in Braga, make sure you see this. You won't be disappointed. 6 stars!

Beautiful historical buildings and landscapes with vineyards, corn patches, gardens, lake and forest. Due for restoration soon but that takes nothing away from the history that's been so well maintained.

Absolutely amazed by how beautiful this place is! The lady at the reception spoke very good English in case you're still learning Portuguese and not able to speak very well. They also handed out maps to both inside the monastery and the garden at the back of the monastery - which was huge, it looks more like a forest than a garden. The garden includes some stairs similar to what they have in Bom Jesus with a lake. There are also two routes that you can choose: short (45 minutes to complete) or long (90 minutes to complete). I chose the long route but it was doable in an hour or so. The church itself was pretty well kept with numbers on the floor that correspond with the explanation included on the map. We could also explore other areas of the monastery such as Sacristy, living room, painting rooms, little gardens, bedrooms, kitchens and even the toilets. Are all kept cleaned and renovated. Getting from Braga to here is also fairly easy. You can take an Uber, drive or take a bus. It's definitely a must visit place in Braga - Real for many reasons!

Magnificent! And I don't mean the pompous display of ecclesiastical splendor in the form of gilded church interiors. I can't take any pleasure in that. What I mean is the overall work - the stone art, the wood art, the gardens with its aqueduct, the chapel path and the gardens in the monastery courtyard. Remarkable how was built and lived at that time. Amission for 4 people (2x students, 2 adults) 10 euros. Tour: not guided but paper-based reading material provided. Duration: 2h in our case

it is an interesting place a bit run down if you look up and see trees growing out of the cloister but the church is interesting and a walk around to see how those monks were living plus there is a huge garden which unfortunately was in rather bad shape when I visited

The visit overall exceeded my expectations. The church is magnificent while the jardines were a real surprise. I recommend to reserve3-4 hours for the visit. You can drive up to the monastery, and in front of it here are a lot of parking places. At the entrance you can buy tickets only using cash. Together with the tickets we received also some information tour guides. The cashier was very amable and spoke English well. At 7pm the exit door was locked, while lots of people were still visiting the garden. We learned that you can leave after 7pm, and the monastery guard will unlock the door for you (his phone number is displayed at exit door).
