Beautiful breathtaking landscape. Plenty to see and do. Lots of little shops. Super family friendly. Watch the 40’-50’ waves crash to your right and the beautiful waves ahead right from the beach, the walking paths, waterfront restaurants and cafés. Take the funicular to the top to see the Nazaré Canyon and surf exhibitions! Absolutely stunning!

During our visit the waves were not as big as I expected. The place was nevertheless suggestive and the museum inside really interesting.

You will find more than you expected. A cathedral of surfing equipped with the original surfboards of most legends hitting the big waves. Also merch and some detailed info about why the waves turn out so big here. Bring some time to also enjoy north beach with it's caves below the lighthouse.

This place was really amazing!! We were, most unfortunately, not there when the waves were big, but I would come back again to see them. The whole stretch of town along the cliff was breathtaking! There was a great little shop right near the top of the funicular where a fella was hand crafting traditional fishing boats. They were beautiful!! The information on how the giant waves form and the surfers that ride them was very interesting! The beach to the north of the lighthouse was very cool. You could see the striations in the sand of where different heights of waves wash up to. Very, very cool!! Well worth going out of your way to see!

The lighthouse of Nazaré offers an eye-watering view that takes your breath away. An elevated standing that allows you to embrace the horizon of the sea. Even though the place is small, the view it provides is nothing less of a beauty of nature.

I went to visit on a good day. The waves were a good size. 10-12 meters high. Crashing and roaring down the cliff side. So cool seeing the surfers 🏄‍♂️ out there doing their thing. Nice cheap area as well to eat food or have a coffee. Come early though that’s the best time to visit.

Great place to admire Portuguese rules and regulations about walking near a surf spot. Would suggest a few more bins because I had some wrappers leftover from a custard tart that I ate an hour away that was also really tasty but I had a surf before the tart so had a bit of acid reflux which the chemist couldn't fix.

We tried our luck going end of September in hopes of catching a glimps of big swells but unfortunately that was not the case. Still, we watched surfers practice on 6-7m swells which is something we have not yet seen. The walk to the lighthouse is steep (as is everything in Portugal, we quickly came to realize) but doable. If not, there are tuktuk's that offer lifts up and down. The lighthouse has a museum which is a must to see. The views of the beach and Nazare town are superb and the small town on top of the hill offers pretty gifts.

We loved our trip to Nazaré! The entire location is amazing. We had first heard of it through the 100 Foot Wave documentary and my son made it clear that we needed to come. It was worth the extra time to get here!

Farol da Nazare. They have the road blocks now Not easy to find park in the city Was a Nice walk going down and a bit hard coming back. Must be in good shape. I paid 2.00 euros to go inside the lighthouse. They have a Museum inside with all the top surfers boards signed .

Lovely little lighthouse with interesting display showing the reason this area is so popular with surfers. Known for the biggest surfed wave in the world. Fantastic viewpoint.

Before visiting google 'Nazare wave forecast' to see when the waves will be the biggest (peak season is during the winter months). Once you arrive you will need to park at the top of the hill and then walk down to the lighthouse. From there you will see spectacular views of both beaches. It's amazing to see the difference in wave heights. Admission into the lighthouse is 2 euros and well worth it.

Nice little lighthouse converted into a museum, with great views and information about the geology of the coast off Nazare and the giant waves.

A small walk of 10 minutes downhill to get there from the main square and it's church and you have a beautiful over 180 degrés view on the ocean with the big waves, when there are some. 2 euros entrance to see a museum about why the waves are so high there and some surf items. The view is awesome!

This is the place to visit to watch waves and the surfers. You must walk all the way down and up, but there is an option to take a tut tut for €2 a person if it is available. There are a few places available to eat, and a few souvenir shops here. Make sure and check the tidal charts if you want to see the big waves.

Great lookout spot to watch the surfers. Museum was near to explore. Nice place to get in a good short walk, but there is some incline and uneven terrain so keep that in mind.

Superb. Although we did not see really huge waves, the place is a real interesting and impressive location.

Truly amazing. Though we were not there during winter to experience the towering waves, it was still spectacular to view.

Gorgeous. The history, the bravery, the power of Mother Nature. This place will humble your soul and give you a reset to life. Here you understand how small we are and how wonderful a planet we live in.

A very scenic spot. Especially when you understand what type of waves they get here during winter months this place will not leave you cold hearted for sure

Cheap entry for a beautiful view. Definitely worth it! Unfortunately, we had not the pleasure to see some of the world’s largest waves - unlucky I would say..

Very beautiful place. Hard to arrive with the Apple GPS information. Search Largo nossa sra da Nazaré instead. Enjoy.

An interesting experience. The exhibition is also nice. It is explained to you, why Nazare have so big waves. They say that the big waves season starts in October till March. We were there in April and the ocean was still wild.

Great views of the coast and waves. Warning: long downhill walk to reach. Some people there to give tuk tuk rides back up for a few euros.

Second time visiting here. Each time feels special. Biggest wave surfed in the world. Bring some walking legs to get to the light house. Park at the top of the town. No payment required. Plenty of places to grab a cool drink and some food if you want it. Small tutut service to get you down and up the hill if you have limited mobility. Take in the view. Relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Worth visiting.

One of the "must see" places in Portugal, even if the waves are not impressed or sea is just flat :) It's recommended to go to kick your imagination how big they can be (there is room inside with screen and sea bottom model). View is just amazing. Entry €2
