👍👍 A lovely and delicious spot that you must make time for if you’re in Braga. The staff was so kind and accommodating for our large group. We sampled every dish, drink and dessert. Highly recommend the Brie cheese appetizer and the duck for the main course! People often mention staff, lovely, delicious, nice, lunch, soup, Braga, main, menu,

It was a wonderful evening. Traveling for work, a local recommended this restaurant to me. It was a nice meal, I was very well advised and not pushed to eat. At a fair price, I was delighted with both the food (quality/quantity), the setting, but above all the service. The staff was lovely, and really made me want to come back, if one day I had to go back to Braga! in short, I think it will be my very first 5 stars of my life. Do not hesitate: enter.

One of the best meals we had in Portugal. For value, it is a 10. There were two main dishes/lunch options with coffee and dessert. There were 4 options for dessert, which were all phenomenal. The place is small, but was packed. Service was exceptional and they spoke English. Coffee was fantastic. The bread and butter were so fresh and also free with the meal (unlike many other restaurants). It was a little hard to find and off the beaten path, but well worth the visit. Classic home cooking and very inexpensive prices. This place could charge double and it would still be a deal. Highly recommend.

Excellent value for money in a cozy place. The menu of the day is quite filling (soup and bread + main dish + coffee), with ingredients of good quality. The rice was super tasty. Lovely decoration. The waiters are nice. We went there at 12pm for lunch and by 12:45pm it was already packed.

I loved this place! The decor is super cute and retro. The people working there are amazingly nice and their veggie fish and soup are to die for. There is nothing to point here. Make sure you go early because it’s packed often

What a lovely place! The owner was so welcoming, and the food was delicious. I went there for lunch and had the baked fish with potatoes. It was perfect, light, and flavourful. I also tasted the feijoada dish (the owner was so kind to bring me a sample of it when I mentioned I never had it before). I highly recommend it, especially on a cold, rainy day.

If you don’t go to Retrokitchen when in Braga your visit is not complete. This is a hidden gem that gives you a true understanding of Portuguese hospitality and friendliness. The Owners Rui and Tania are extremely welcoming and lovely. The food is very local and delicious. They explain things so nicely for those who don’t speak Portuguese. Rui speaks French as well . Really lovely experience, we even invited us to watched the Good Friday parade from their terrace which was a great experience .

Highly value for money - €7 for soup, main and coffee. Lovely place with friendly service. However, the main choices for weekday lunches are limited.

I really liked the staff there!! The man with a dog tattoo on his arm was so caring, friendly and open! The young lady that served us was also very very nice and pleasant to talk to! I really enjoyed the Portuguese sausage and the pudding dessert was just heavenly. I would come to Braga just to eat in this place again! Thank you!

I would like to rate this place 2.5 stars, but that's not an option so I have to choose between 2 and 3 stars. As the name suggests, the restaurant has vintage furniture. While it looks plainly old at spots (e.g., my bowl was chipped), all in all this creates a coherent and enjoyable atmosphere on the whole. The place looks to be family-run and the staff was very polite and welcoming. However, I and my girlfriends did not like the food and the menu. They had only three choices for the meal (one option with meat, one with fish, and a vegetarian one). To this we could add a small bowl of the "soup of the day" as an appetizer. There were no other entries on the menu. We did not expect a huge menu from a small place like this, but having only 3 (+1) options seemed too few to us. The food we ordered was made with fresh ingredients (you could taste that), but the overall flavor was plain or even bland in our opinion. To put this in other words, it felt "home made", but not in a good sense: we could likely have prepared the same thing at home ourselves and enjoyed it better. We rarely go out for lunch or dinner, and when we do we want to eat better and tastier food than what we usually prepare at home. Maybe this restaurant was simply not the right choice for us and other people would enjoy it more. On the bright side, the price was cheap for what we had (7€ per person for a bowl of vegetables soup and a plate of spaghetti with clams).

Dinner was amazing! Everything was delicious, be warned they don’t accept American cards and often only accept cash. We ordered 2 colas, bottle of wine, two appetizers, and 3 entrees= 65€. In case you need an idea of how much cash to bring, we were a family of four having dinner.

Perfect. The service was lovely - and even though I can muddle my way through Portuguese, they took me back to the blackboard and talked me through all the dishes in English! Wow. Then the food was excellent (as was the Vinho Verde) - and I just loved the no-pretense vibe of the place. Highly, highly recommended!!! (I also love that this place is a bit removed from the touristy center - and down a quiet street. I actually tried to have lunch here yesterday, but it was mobbed! Make reservations for dinner - you won't be disappointed.)

3 choices when we arrived for lunch - chicken, fish, and vegetarian based. Tried the chicken and fish and recommend both!

Great (cash only) eatery full of locals as much as visitors. Choice of 3 dishes for each course on the day all absolutely beautiful for the money (20 - 30 euros per head). The owner and his wife are great host who love to engage. Need to book in advance as very popular. Food is simple but great.

Very cute place with nice decoration. A little shabby/scary from the outside but cosy inside. The staff (owners?) Were very kind and welcoming, and the food was delicious, albeit the chicken a bit dry (but we went close to closing time so that could be the reason) They don't have menus and different foods, but every day there's a menu with two(maybe more on other days) choices and you can choose from that. They serve soup first, then the chosen main, and then there's a variety of desserts.

A very cozy space in the heart of Braga, with super friendly staff. The menu is not long, but you don't also really need it. Just ask for some advice and you will not regret it. Would definitely recommend it!

👍👍 Taberna Belga in my opinion serves the best francesinha in Portugal, surpassing all others. Taberna Belga has two locations, Taberna Belga 1 and Taberna Belga 2, which are located a short distance apart. Both restaurants are owned by the same proprietor and offer the same high-quality Francesinha...
