My husband and I stayed for the night. We enjoyed their beautiful spa and swimming pool and everything. We almost thought we were having an incredible time in our stay UNTIL we checked out and decided to have lunch at their restaurant. We waited too long for the waiter to ask for our order and took it. There's no one ordering the food and waiting almost an hour for the main course (and i guess they're also in the middle of their internal meetings?) is such a pain in our schedule. They didn't even serve the cutleries until we asked for it. The service and long wait for a meal is really mood killer. Feels like restaurant service is lack of professionalism; it's slow, they just staring at us for no reason AND the food, is okay, not good, not bad just okay. Too bad it does not give me much positive impression on this one.

We had a two night stay at the hotel. Good welcome, large room, with comfy beds, large bathroom with both a shower and bathtub. The breakfast buffet is exceptionally good in offer and varieties. Good service. The Spa is nice with a pool, jacuzzi and sauna section. Unfortunately our experience is overshadowed by the Spa reception staff being cold and not interested in questions asked. The resting room is dusty , wrong piped music and not even water is available. An area to improve. The hotel is in walking distance from the old town. Otherwise perfect.

It would give it 5 stars which was actually my first impression when I arrived but it changes during my stay. The hotel itself is a wonderful place with its spa and swimming pool access (even though its managed by a different company - DAO ) . Some of the staff was very unprofessional and the hotel is getting to age : - Some corners are old and rusty which defenitly needs some renovations - Unprofessional staff and service. I needed to wait 45 minutes for dinner which was even not tasty at all in my opinion. Reception and restaurant service lines are always not reachable. It seems that they are avoiding any work. - Then, I found a found at the recpetion. That a particular blond woman working as receptionist staff just pick up and hanged the phone again while shouting "poutain" when a the phone is ringing. - In addition, during the 45 minutes wait for the food. I was not even handed cutleries to eat. This was give after my food was served and took additional 5 minutes again All in all, if the hotel would be a stand alone without the spa annex it does not deserve the current rating (4.2 in Aug. 2022).

Very nice hotel. Staff speaks English and there is a public parking available across the street. Went there for a wedding and we had a wonderful time. The building itself is beautiful and much bigger than what you expect from the street. The outdoor gardens are great for events!

The hotel itself is amazing! Unfortunately I continue to experience that some of the waiters and waitresses are not very switched on. I do not feel taken care of as you would expect in such a hotel. Most of them are very friendly, however some are not.

The hotel itself is a wonderful place. The rooms are great and spacious. Valet parking is an excellent way of getting your luggage in the hotel. The breakfast was excellent. The staff responsible for breakfast was excellent. However ... Dinner on Saturday night was chicken according to the kitchen staff but we doubted that and our table made guesses from pheasant to duck to rabbit. The sizes of the cuts didn't correspond to chicken and the taste and texture didn't either. After finding some buckshot in the "chicken" and asking the staff exactly how "free-roaming" these chickens were, the staff still maintained that it was chicken. They day after, we were informed that it was, in fact, pheasant. The staff at reception never replied to our e-mails. After calling and making a reservation for a deluxe room in the new building, we arrived to find we had been placed in a luxury suite that had been reviewed before as "extremely noisy" (room 11). Amends were made and everything was fine until check-out when it seemed impossible to get a properly detailed invoice. Instead there were "manual" entries for each night. Invoice was otherwise correct. Instead of having a small map available of where the valet parked our car, there was some pointing and language barrier problem. In the end, we found the parking but we didn't know where the car was parked because they could not tell us so we spent another 10 minutes walking through the parking structure with our luggage.

Stayed here whilst on our F1 weekend. The entrance lobby is impressive and as soon as you enter you feel the quality. All staff that we came into contact with were nice & helpful. Bedroom was a good size & bathroom had a good sized shower plus a separate bath ,( usually it's one or the other ) Bed was comfortable but a but too soft for me. Breakfast was buffet and had everything you need to start the day. We had dinner here and opted for the 3 course fixed price and it was all delicious so a job very well done by the chefs 👍( phone was flat so only got picture of my desert). No hesitation in recommending.

Room Is nice good restaurant but the WiFi didn't work my whole trip. I was told that the technician is not here everyday and the shower does not get hot. Not a great place for a business trip

Well located hotel with reverse logic of floors (upside down). Instead of king size bed, I've received normal two beds pushed together.

Super tolles Hotel!

I stayed at Van Der Valk Sélys Liège for 2 nights in a stadard room. Pleasantly surprised by how accurate the photos on the website are. Room was neat, comfortable, and clean. Really enjoyed the bath (a rare thing these days). Spa facilities were modern, well maintained and clean. Really good breakfast buffet - Big variety and very tasty. Would definitely recommend to add breakfast. They could have added another towel in the room since they don't hand them out at the spa. And also just sad to see that the lobsters in the mini aquarium in the lobby have their claws closed with rubber bands. If you're going to keep them there maybe just take off the bands. Very good hotel. I will definitely stay here if I'm in Liège again.

So etwas weiß man frühzeitig.

Eher desorganisiert. Zimmer ging auf Seitengasse im ersten Stock raus - sorry, ein no go. Dann lieber IBIS.

Van der Valk Sélys Liège is a romantic hotel with a beautiful spa in the centre of Liège, with lovely rooms, an excellent restaurant, and friendly helpful staff.

So nearly gave this lovely hotel a 5. Dinner in restaurant was delicious. Room lovely. However shower was really just a dribble Only one bottle of water. Only one small body wash Very small thin bath towels. Come on - you can fix this really easily!!!

We booked a room by expedia, looks very nice on the pictures. In real life we get the most worst room they have for people who are invalid. Never again for us. Not recommanded

Not often, that i give 5 stars but here it fits. Smiles everywhere, nice rooms, nice Spa, nice breakfast (even though they have no idea about how to treat bacon). Sky bar is not sky but perfect!

We have stayed here several yimes, and in general love the Van D Valk brand. We came last Christmas with my boyfriend, everything was perfect. I came with my teenagers this fall, and was surprised how much things had changed. Maybe we just caught you on an off day, but service wasn't as good as usual, and cleanliness wasn't to your usual standard. We arrived at our room that had dirty dishes sitting in front, that stayed there for 4 hours for example. The biggest disappointment this time was the swimming pool. Locker room was absolutely trashed, and every time we came classes were going on. I understand another company runs it all, but that is a poor excuse when you are including this amenity in your offer. Please communicate with guests about times we can use the pool, and please manage this company better. We left a bottle of water one afternoon by accident by the pool; the next day it was still there. We also had things stolen at the pool twice: once out of our locker, once poolside. Again, perhaps not Vdv's responsability, but surprising. Breakfast was lovely and what the front desk staff lacked was made up for by the restaurant staff.

We spent 2 nights at the Van Der Valk Sélys Hotel in Léige. We truly enjoyed our stay. The Hotel is very true to the photos on their website. Breakfast was wonderful with a lot of variety. The spa facilities are clean and well-maintained. The only thing that they may change is to add towels at the spa area or to add additional towels in the room, there wasn't enough and also no area where you could leave your wet towel when done at the spa facilities. As an international traveler - it would also be nice if all the notices and singnage were in English as well. If ever in Léige, will visit again.

Really nice and comfortable hotel, situated on the hill overlooking old city center. The rooms are rather big and well equipped and bathroom is really stylish. The lobby bar and main restaurant are a big plus as they offer great food and nice selection of drinks. The service is very welcoming and I must especially point out the lobby bar team who is working crazy fast to serve you as quickly as possible and at the same time still having a chat with you. The only a bit negative thing is parking which is a situated in a semi-built building cca 150 m away which is not to comfortable if you have rain when the path to the hotel (a bit going up the hill) becomes a bit slippery. I think I will return to this one.

I really enjoyed my stay! When you arrive w car you can park it in the front, they take your keys and park your car underground. Very friendly staff and beautiful restaurant. Even a cave with a wide variety of wine and e en a cozy room for smokers to enjoy their wine inside. It's a beautiful hotel with a rooftop bar and a wellness area. The breakfast was so DELICIOUS and you had SO many options. The room was very nice, clean and the bathroom had heated flooring. There was a nice big batch AND a separate shower. We were welcomed by fresh sweet strawberries and macarons. A few things that I would have criticism on is that only the rooms have air conditioning, so not in the hallway & lobby nor in the restaurant. It was very hot. The other thing was we had only wiFi in the bathroom, on the right side of the bed we had wifi but it would always disconnect and if I layed on the left side (same phone) there was no internet access. It felt very luxurious and I really enjoyed my stay. We didn't knew about the parking so we parked at a payed parking on the same street and when we told when we checked out they reembursed €20. Which was very nice of them. Definitely would recommend this hotel to my family and friends when they visit Liège!

We stayed there for three nights, with breakfast. It is located nearby the centre (3 minutes of walk). The hotel rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast very good, the view from the restaurant is very nice! We enjoyed the usage of the swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna (all included in the reservation). The drinks in the mini-bar were also included. I can definitely recommend the hotel !

Nice hotel but what a shameless behaviour towards its clients on COVID-19. We had a drink in the fabulous bar yet without checking our covid safe app. Worse: staff was walking around the premises without nose mask or mask was hanging chin down. Avoid in times of a pandemic!

I had a lovely stay in this hotel. It is situated in the old city of Liège and the balcony's give you a good view over the city. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast bar has a large assortment to choose from and everything is freshly made. I dined in twice and the food was of a high quality and scrumptious. The only point of contention was the language barrier. There was only one or two staff members that spoke another language other than French. This made communication a little difficult. Other than this I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Great staff but most of their booking process is a mess. I asked a room with a good wifi access but they put me a dark room with almost no internet. Parking a car is a nightmare. I was once stuck on the parking for 30 minutes. The Van Der Valk Palais des congrès is much more confortable. The real plus of this hotel is the Spa that they have very well renovated and the roof top bar in the summer

The Van der Selys is simply a luxurious experience. From the reception to the restaurant to the rooms everything is very neatly arranged and taken care of. The style is superb and very distinct. I have hardly ever seen a better breakfast buffet. I think the staff could improve a bit to be more efficient sometimes, they seemed to be either understaffed either not available enough. Other than that, great experience, would return again.

Nice location, bizarre business politics and mediocre food looking fancy. We had booked 2 nights from Thursday to Saturday, due to a change in planning we would have liked to stay one night longer ... But we were told that it simply isn't possible to book a hotel room for a Saturday night. It's mandatory to book both Saturday and Sunday night (= check-out Monday).... Simply unheard of 🤷 Breakfast is worth it though!

Nice rooms and well equipped, lots of services like rooftop, good food and breakfast... Though the service was very slow. The spa is really nice and included in the price. Good location!

Fantastic hotel, beautifully decorated and styled. Rooms were very large and in great condition. Terrace is nice on a warm day with wide views over the city. Breakfast was very extensive and good quality. Restaurant is nice and light with sun coming in to wake you up. Only point, mentioned by others too, is that serving staff (waiters) were almost all extremely slow and unattentive. Sometimes even borderline rude. There's definitely room for improvement but overal stay was fantastic.

  • 3/5 RaviShankar A. 2 years ago on Google
The hotel is in central Liege which is a very convenient location. The rooms look and feel small. The menu at the restaurant and room service is limited and you would struggle if you are a vegetarian or vegan. Most of all the service desires a lot of improvement. We were waiting for checking in and they were busy behind the counter not caring for us. Ordered room service and after 45 minutes made a call to check where my food was only to hear that they ran out of what I ordered and they did not feel necessary to let me know..no apologies and was just mentioned that there is miscommunication between kitchen and front desk.. if you can eat out and afford the cost for the convenience to be in city centre with no expectations for service this is the right place for you..
